  • Did this go ahead? Dus it exist now?

  • they should do that in canada

  • stillaint done it 1 year and 8 months later

  • yhyh sick idea

  • At least he tries and is willing to listen to ideas.

  • that would NOT work.

first of all, the wooden boards. you'd have kids fighting over a board, and if you sold them, it'd cost ALOT to replace them all.

third, removing all that shit in that place.

how? bulldozer? goodluck! you cant even get a bulldozer IN there.

without knocking a wall down that is.

and third of all, you couldnt make it available 1 day of the week.

graffiti is about having less restrictions, not "once a day a week." theres more, but i cant fit it on here.

  • i think this is a good idea. im a graffiti artist from the u.s. and ive done these kind of legal graffiti spots and theres nothing better then a good spot to showcase my art. you could probably have a day every couple of months where graffiti artist and spectators can meet look at and do art. you could probably make some money of something like that

  • bat soup is a gay ass prick Graffiti is art and its better art than any paintind i seen in my life

  • Yeh, but you're a moron so who really gives a flying fk what u think?

  • Brilliant idea. I talked to artists in Venice Beach in LA...they have a similar thing. It works really well. We may have the next Banksy...you never know!

  • Moseley does not need or want this. It's a very bad idea.

  • Graffiti is not art. It is the human equivalent of dogs marking their territory with pee. Tags and territorial markings don't say anything artistically, at best they're a kind of obscure cultural record, modern rock paintings. Grafitti as political subversion is different, but sadly, the kidz of Brum are largely politically inert, preferring instead crass displays of materialism ie. bling, labels, flash cars etc.

    Quite sad really.

  • graffiti is art you ignorant fuck. There are ugly tags and artistic caligraphic like ones. ugly murals and murals that are very artistic,,, just cauz its on a wall dosnt mean its not art. its illegal i agree,,, but its art,, stop adding to the worlds ignorance! look up the deffinition of art

  • I'll look it up if you learn to spell...

    you ignorant fuck.

  • good idea, but why lock it away? art is about expression not having to go get a key to pant. i understand the kids issue but why not have opening hours and try to run it in with a cafe or sumut so it more regulated in terms of crime and tings - consider epic skat park just down the road.

  • graffitii is art every man has that right this guy is helping the problem by giving them a space to do it would you rather the do it somewhere illegal like your front door? his idea kills two birds with one stone think about it

  • Graffiti is not art.

  • stfu! yu dunt know jack

  • IG NOR ANT!

  • A dreadful idea! It will attract more graffiti kiddies and aspiring taggertwats to the area who will then go on to use Moseley as their broader canvas. Waste of public money.

Do something useful and sort some residential parking for hard-pressed Moseley residents - you know who we are by now. Oh I forgot - u don't give a toss about tax-payers trying to raise families in this car-choked area etc.

  • I dont want that in my area!!!

  • u r the biggest nobhead i ave ever seen go get a fucking life u twat...

  • no direspect to smithies but thats not true poeple can piece an tag

  • at first when i watched your videos i thought gese what a loser but your were actualy on about the TAGERZ who only tag and dont do pieces and stuff but now i completly agree

  • i think the idea of a legal graffiti area is great. but i think the area needs to be bigger and not just a disused car park. the legal graffiti park in selly oak has a basketball court which offers a place to play and not just a place to do graffiti. another area needs to be taken into consideration for this idea to work properly.

  • jesus guys, is there a reason to attack someone on their sexuality?.. graffiti is suppose to be against any kind of control and about free expression, what is it so frightening about people fucking each other? there is morons everywhere and a lovely samples posted comments. i think the idea is stupid but you holigen deserve a special award for extreme moronicity.. well done for being such a twat..

  • Man you really suck , Dont you have an FUC*ING life ? maaan just because U cant bang your wife dosent mean you have to spend your life messin other peoples lifes up ? God where do you people come from ?

  • It's a good idea, bad area. From what I've seen, Graffiti in Mosely sucks.

  • Don't let people commenting put you off, this is a good idea.

  • Further more, i had to giggle at the idea of spending £1800 to allow kids to spray the walls. What are you going to spend it on? Hopefully, on paint - which would support a local business. However, i totally support the initiative of spending money on the Skatepark as it is the only place i know of locally that endevours to occupy young people.

  • u fucking gay prick y dnt u fuckoff if graffiti aint your thing fuck off why would graffers fill unsafe abuot gettin mugged if they did y do they do it u sill dum prick

  • fair play to ya at less you show that you care

  • SCREW THIS GUY!! GRAFFITI 4 LIFE BABY

  • NOT THIS HOMO AGAIN

  • Since Fletchers closed down, Selly Oak got moody, there are only a couple of legal places within Brum to paint - so this could be a good idea. The problem isnt the graf artists it's the toys tagging crap everywhere. My personal opinion is that this will encourage more people into graf and accelerate the problem

  • Two questions:

    1) what's you thoughts on an indoor graffiti art zone at Epic?

    2) why aren't more people using the rear of the Jug of Ale to do graffiti art? I get the feeling that only a select few do art here - is this correct?

  • great for everyone who does graffiti so long as there arent muggers waiting outside. yeh i think the jug are a bit select and dont let begginers or the rubbish work there haha

  • At tonight's Ward Committee we should give the go ahead for £1800 to be spent on a graffiti art zone at Epic Skateboard park. I would be interested to know where the muggers outside Epic Skatebaord park hang out - I'm a great believer that muggers can be designed out of an area. Muggers like dark areas to hang around in and quick escape routes.

Who controls who does what at the rear of the Jug? Is it Amigo, Nors and Obens?

  • i wouldnt know where muggers hang out to be honest but im sure you could stop it happening if you tired. dont know who controld the graffiti at the jug either

  • Dear Mullaney,

although i have watched with pleasure your videos, i believe your energy and our budget could be spent for more important issues. Roads? Housing? Improving facilities for young people to go to, which would include disaffected youth aswell as middle class, to occupy and stimulate their mind? Where can under 18s hang out at night? The Devil finds work for idle hands.

  • well jug of ale is only used by a select few because it is more of a private graffiti area, and not everyone would be able to use it.

  • never knew this place existed. great if u build a legal site but ur missing the bigger issue that is that we have nowhere to go at night. any lowlife over 18 can have a good night in moseley at any of the many pubs, but try having a good time in moseley if ur under 18

  • Good point. I'm in discussions with the Epic Skateboard park to get regular bands for under 18's. Keith Marsden informs me that under-18's are allowed in up until 11pm. I need to double check with Licensing, if this is correct.

I'm also in discussion with Keith about having an indoor legal graffiti art zone at Epic. However, we need to sort out some form of ventilation.

The big sticking point is if you want to drink alcohol or smoke. That in itself is a whole huge debate.

  • exactly, nothing will be that popular without alcohol. obviously u cant change the drinking age or anything but id say that drinking alcohol isnt really a problem, in a year or two years everyone will be able to drink it legally but we will still be the same people, but alcohol has its problems obviously

  • The problem was alcohol in the UK was made a taboo.

If alcohol was made available from a young age at the table, and was available when eating out from a young age, there would have been less of a problem.

At home kids 5 and over can drink alcohol, I was brought up at home to respect alcohol and a small glass of wine, beer or cider once or twice a week during meal times whilst I was growing up, meant when I was older I never saw the need to go out and abuse alcohol.

  • Good plan martin! Mollie x

  • sounds like a good plan to me mate.

    x

  • If you want graffiti to spread even more, this is the way to do it. Happens every time. The entire area surrounding legal spots will be hit hard by those going to and from the area. Taggers have no respect.

  • Martin. thanks for sending me this link. I think you may be onto something here. Things are getting pretty bad, and a legal wall space is much needed in Birmingham, and i can bring to mind a number of serious artists who would support you in this in whichever way we can, including myself...

  • safe martin wahgwahn did u like the photo of us i left on ur myspace the other day ??

yeh i can remember speakin to u on thursday at private park about this tbh it sounds like a plan . you seem to see being mugged as a big issue which it is but what measures would you take against that because simply being able to see the spot wont stop us bein mugged ???

    much love

    x

  • very good idea
