  • This is one of my favorite songs from my childhood, listening to it in the mornings before heading off to school.

    Thnaks for sharing

  • RIP Roger Nolet, how you loved this song. You are gone but not forgotten.

  • I adore this woman and not only is she a spectacular singer, she is an accomplished actress, too. We don't see enough of her as she (or we) deserves.

  • Cancon or no cancon, this is just a great song! I love Ginette Reno.

This is one of my favourite Canadian songs from the early 70's. What a voice! What a hook! She's a delight to listen to (or watch) in an interview.

If you get a chance to hear Ginette's pop adult English album from the late 90's, "Love Is All," please do! Great stuff!

  • Greastest canadian singer of all time...she was way ahead of superstar Celine Dion but she decided not have that great international career of her own because she lacked that self-confidence refusing to acknowledge that she had that great talent to become the world's best singer of her time...but here in Québec we do know that she would have been the best of all...such a devine talent..Thanks Ginette...you made our lives much better!!

  • My father played this many years ago. Even as a kid, I liked it the second I heard it. I love Ginette Reno. She is a brilliant talent and I am proud to say she is Canadian! Yours truly, Vince Ravon. Canadian songwriter. Check out my song: Where I Belong, by Vince Ravon. It's on youtube.

  • CANCON. Whoda thought!

  • I remember when CANCON made the ruling. We thought music was dead! But in turn it created the opposite effect after a time because now you are hearing great Canadian music that you might never had the chance to listen to as much before. One of the very few rulings the Canadian goverment got right for the people!!!!

  • Though it was deserving of all the airplay it got when this fantatstic tune came out in the fall of '70, looking back I wonder if it already somehat benefited from the Canadian content laws, cuase they suer as hell played it seeminly hourly on shows like The House of Warren, on CFBR, Toronto's utra-conservative AM station. Hell, they called themselves-

CFRB-Ontario's AUTHORITATIVE Newsvoice. I'm surprised the Harris Tories never stole that one!

  • RIP Roger Nolet... did he ever love this song as he was a second hand man

  • WOW! Thanks for the blast from the past!

  • I adore this song......I'm trying to find it in CD form.......well at least I have it on computer!!!

  • excellent.

  • Powerful song from Ginette. My mom used to sing this to me when I was about 3 years old just for the hell of it. I'm 38 now and it's something I won't forget ever.

  • Wow! I searched the internet for years looking for this track. A few years ago I found the single in London and had a friend bring it to Toronto on her way here. Thanks for a serious treat. I think Amy Winhouse's Tears Dry instrumentation may have been inspired by this track - her hair was . . .

  • Hello - i had this Ginette album in the earely 70s - I was dating a girl named Karen who looked like Ginette - I LOVED her - Ginette has a beautiful voice to go along with her beautiful personality - I think this was her finest song...and you were nice too Karen.....Paul

  • Hi out there!!

Does anybody have the songs from Volume 7-8? Can't afford to buy these two fantastic volumes....this is when Ginette was at her best in my opinion. Many, many thanks!

  • If you're still interested and have an IPod, ITunes now has Vol's 7-8 available. Purchase individual songs or the entire album.

  • Where can I find the lyrics to this? Some of them I can't figure out after all these years. Thanks.

  • It looks like you have to buy the album to see the lyrics, because I can't find them anywhere on the web. If you tell me what parts you aren't understanding, maybe I can help.

  • Sorry for the delay.

But then you came along with all those ...

    Before one ....

But I'm telling you one thing (the rest I know)

  • But then you came along with all those dated routines you used before

Worn-out, faded old daydreams by the score...

    Hope that helps!

  • Yes, it does. Thanks!

  • I'm the same way. She sings some of the lyrics in such a breathless hurried way that I can't understand them. From the :34 second mark to :41 seconds I don't know what the hell she's saying.

  • Mojofilter - I may be one of the few Americans who knows and likes this song, and that's due to a now-defunct oldies station in Chatham, Ontario, Classic Gold 630 AM CFCO, that could be heard in the Detroit area where I live. This was one of the "oh wow" CanCon gems on CFCO's playlist. The station is still around but have flipped to country... blech.

    Anyway, thanks for posting!

  • Wow, I haven't heard this song in....gawd, I don't know how long. I had a crush on Ginette Reno when I was a kid!! Thank you for posting this!!Do you have her heartwrenching song "Can't Get Hurt Anymore" ?

  • Sorry, I have one other single of hers, but that's not it. I know she's made a ton of records, but I've only ever heard two that crossed over from AC to the pop charts around the same time.

  • Superb! Excellent vocals, score, etc. A perfect song.

  • thank you for posting this song

  • You're welcome. Glad you liked it.

  • I love this song!! It has beautiful music in the background, too. I was looking for it a few months ago and it wasn't there. Thank you, mojofilter02, for posting this. I seem to remember her doing "Will Everyone Here Kindly Step to the Rear", also done with a full orchestra, if memory serves me correctly.

  • You're welcome! It had been ages since I heard this song before I posted it here, and it's like rediscovering an old friend. It keeps getting stuck in my head!

  • Bradat what a memory jolt with your mention of "Will Everyone Here..." this all played on my parents' more square sounding radio, CFRB, the House of Warren.

  • Sorry, gave you a thumbs down instead of up...

  • Love This Song! Another great classic.

I really didn't know anything about Ginette until I caught her on a rerun of the Dini Petty show. She was a great interview...a truly fascinating woman. Gold based radio stations still play this song. Ginette also does quite a bit of acting too. She plays the mother of the lead gay character in Mambo Italiano. Love her!
