I think it was pretty obvious that Kathy was referencing the commercial time when they didnt have to try to play nice for the home audiences. She says Martin Short kept leaning over her to defer to Steve and he didn't do that at all during the interview. However, he DOES lean over right after announcing a commercial break. While I think she may have exaggerated a bit, I believe her when she says his overall demeanor was aloof and particularly towards Kathy.

I love KG, but this wasn't at all a bad interview. Steve & Martin let her tell her stories and interjected humor here and there. Steve even played the dead-pan, straight man and allowed KG to make him the butt of a few jokes. I feel SM is very generous in this clip. HOWEVER, I do agree with the posters who think she was referring to the commercial break chat, as I do know SM to be rather quiet and aloof (not that its a bad thing).

Let me start off by saying, I am a BIG fan of KG's.. however after reading about this specific appearance in her book (pgs. 139-141), I must confess.. I feel she embellished a bit. I was expecting to see Steve barely talking, coming across as being really arrogant etc.. it was not at all how she made it out to be in the book. Sorry Kath.. still love ya tho!

Please go to a bookstore and read the chapter in her book about Steve Martin.  I promise you, you it will PROVE her book is fiction. Griffin wasn't referring to the commerical breaks. She claimed that Steve Martin completely did not acknowledge her presense at all WHILE ON AIR. Griffen claimed Steve Maritin only talked to her through Martin Short but not directly to her at all. She also said the audience was uncomfortable because Martin was such a douche bag.

Here's the deal. I saw Kathy Griffin on Larry King and believed her. She told the story of how she met Steve Martin, he is a complete douche bag and described what happened. It completely changed my opinion of Steve Martin. Then, I checked out this clip on youtube. Then, I read this chapter in Barnes and Noble bookstore Thank GOD I didn't buy the book. She's a liar. She threw Steve Martin under a bus to sell books. Worse, she completely lied. If I were him I were CALL HER OUT ON THIS.
