Does any1 know the name o'an old disney show were they'd take cartoon clips and they'd combine it with music?.It's not "silly symphonies" b/c what I'm thinking about came out in the 90's.
I remember watching the Disney Channel the very first day it aired in 1983. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and waited for it to sign on. It was like going to Disneyland when you couldn't. Now, all I do is skip over it. It's sad what's happened to it. But when you have corporate executives deciding what kids want to watch, the crap you see now is the crap you get. Nothing like watching 'Family" programs that portray the parents and other adults as morons , idiots and fools. Kinda explains allot
This was back when The Disney Channel actually was The *Disney* Channel, airing programs that actually features *Disney* characters. Such a shame how far it's fallen since. I'm surprised kids these days even know who Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, etc. are.
This brings back memories of watching the Disney Channel when it first came on during the 1980s. It seems like George Plimpton was for sale to the highest bidder. I also remember him from those old Mr. Intellivision commercials. Mouseterpiece Theatre and Mr. Intellvision. Wow, George.
Wow! This is the first time I have heard this intro since I was a little boy...really brings back a lot of great memories. Disney Channel sucks for kids today....shame..
Wow realy brings back memories. Shame no one has even one episode in its entirety. :(
I agree that the Disney Channel caters to what teens today want, and that is only what is of today. Most teens today are nothing more than sheep willing to accept what is shoved in front of them.
I remember watching a lot of Disney including this show as a child. Now the channel totally sucks with all those teen shows. I remember Dumbo's Circus, DTV, the old Zorro show, and Mouse Factory.
I posed the same question on the Talk Classical forums. Someone on there managed to find out. It's the last third of Jean-Joseph Mouret's Sinfonies de Fanfare titled "Fanfares." You can find a good rendition of it posted by user: theprof1958
Man, been wanting to know that answer for years and years. Funny how near it was all this time!
@oddtomv If you have a good link to that song, you can post it and I'll put it in the info box for others who are wondering the same question and don't care to look through the replies. I see that user has several. Thanks for solving the mystery! :)
THIS is what Disney Channel (Family Channel) was truly all about - the cartoons! Not all this Hannah Montana/High School Musical/Jonas Brothers crap you see nowadays
Oh yeah, didn't they run this show on Vault Disney back when it was still around? I'm almost certain they did, because I remember seeing this show around the late 90s when Vault Disney was still on Disney Channel.
I've been looking all over YouTube for Lunchbox!! Glad to know i'm not the only one who remembers it! Intros, cartoons, anything..i just can't find it! Anyone have any luck? *sigh* i miss the old Disney Channel soo much =(
I have had VAGUE memory of Lunch Box for years (just the name, not the show itself.)! no luck finding it though.. :( I thought it might trigger something far back in my memory...
I know me too!...i have images and bits and pieces in my head that i remember. I remember Spot the dog cartoons and Paddington Bear being on it. With all the stuff we can find on YouTube we can't find this!? Grrr... =)
If it's the same version I'm thinking of (the British stop-motion animated series), Paddington also aired on Nickelodeon, as short segments on "Pinwheel."
What year(s) did "Lunch Box" air? I have a vague memory of the commercials, but I think it must have been after I stopped watching their programming for younger children. After 1989 or so?
I also have been looking all over for clips of Lunch Box, but it's the one thing I can't seem to find. I am surprised I found this. Maybe because Lunch Box aired when we were in school, it was more difficult for us to capture it on video.
I'm adding another vote for Lunchbox (though I know you don't have it) in the off chance that someone browsing here might have it. These comments on this page are essentially the ONLY place on the web containing any proof of this show's existence. It was my absolute favorite growing up, along with Dumbo's Circus and Under The Umbrella Tree.
Really? I had no idea it was so rare, although once upon a time, I had as much trouble proving Good Morning, Mickey and Contraption existed. I do remember Lunchbox, though! I think I've got ads/previews for Lunchbox on VHS... I'll have to spend some time looking through them. If I do, I'll post them.
Thank you for posting these. Some of my happiest memories are associated with the "classic" Disney channel. You know, 20 years later I'm still kicking myself for not recording more on VHS when I still had the chance.
If only we'd known what utter crap the Disney channel would turn into....I'm old enough to remember these shows, but also young enough to remember when TDC started going downhill fast and I quit watching....stooooopid execs at Disney don't know what the heck they're doing...poor Walt would roll over in his grave if he could see the current state of Disney!
i agree with you...i remembered this show on The Family Channel (canada) but i didn't remember the name...everyone i asked thought i was crazy ^___^ SO I'M NOT CRAZY AFTER ALL
This show was first shown on the Disney Channel back in 1983 and it was hosted by Mr. Intellivision himself George Plimpton. He was then hosted the show prior this when he was doing commercials for Mattel Electronics Intellivision where George Plimpton was shown in every Intellivision ad.
If you want to see AVGN's 2-part review, go watch part 1 of his review on "Double Vision" which is called Intellivision.
I remember on Mouseterpiece theater with 1 cartoon about a lion that was raised by sheep & didn't they show the bull cartoon that loves to smell flowers too?.
That would be so awesome if you did have some episodes of MT. I thank users like you and YouTube for letting me relive a bit of my childhood and for reminding us the glory of what used to be The DISNEY Channel.
I'm so deeply saddened as what The Disney Channel has become today. The Channel has seriously gone downhill after 1996. I miss Lunchbox, Mousterpiece Theatre, those old Disney cartoons they use to air, and the old Disney cartoons with music from the 60s. They also had great bumpers. They never had commercials either. Avonlea was a good program too. Classic Winnie The Pooh, etc. Now the channel is all about teenie bopper music, and teenie bopper shows. R.I.P. The Disney Channel
@sugateddy "They never had commercials either." Sure, but that's because the Disney Channel was a pay channel back in those days. "Now the channel is all about teenie bopper music and shows." I'm nostalgic for the mid 80's Disney Channel too, but the format of 60's music and vintage programming wouldn't be profitable today. Remember, Disney is a business. The teen market is lucrative. That's the reality.
I'm sorry, I don't have Lunchbox. I think I have some old Mousterpiece Theater episodes on VHS in storage though. I'll have to locate them and upload them eventually. Stay tuned! :)
Oh, YEAH!!! Takes me back to my childhood! I saw this last back in 1999 on the Vault Disney block. Back in 1998, our cable got reprogrammed, adding Disney Channel as a standard channel.
Once in a blue moon when disney channel was putting their paid channel for free....i would watch this religiously. I miss the old disney channel
