  • I just don't know what to do with my riot points! :(

  • She was music, Lady with The Voice.

  • She should wear more colourful clothes, its a bit bland.

  • @5teampunker In black and white?

  • A unique voice and real talent. My favourite of all her songs

  • Dusty was my favorite Bristish import after the Bee Gees. Amazing performer. Blue-eyed soul at its very best!

  • lovely lovely song- i was only a young child when this came out -lovely rip Dusty

  • Imagine Dusty and Amy meeting to sing together!

  • i think that song it's white stripes but no

  • Dusty set the standards with this one in the 60's, and they have never yet been bettered.

  • Sounds as good now as it did 48 years ago, it was a tragedy that her personal life eventually masked what a great performer she really was . . . always missed but truely never forgotten!

  • Absolutely fantastic, there are not enough superlatives to describe Dusty Springfield.

  • This is without one of the best vocal perfomances of all time...and one of the best songs. I must have heard this song hundreds of times and it still sends shivers down my spine. Dusty's Bacharach/David renditons were always far superior than other artists at the time I thought, a couple of Dionne Warwick originals (like Anyone Who Had a Heart) were maybe superior but that's about it.

  • No effort for her to hit the high notes

  • Incredible talent , makes ones hair stand up and she did it so effortlessly, it seemed, but behind it was sheer skill.

  • The best female vocalist of all time!

  • Love that set design!

  • * * * * *

  • It doesn't get better than this...Dusty!!!

  • In a word ... Perfection !

  • Superb..

  • didnt really know much about Dusty, being born in '87 obviously had heard of her, but about 2 years ago Richard Feild who was in the springfields moved into the same complex as my nan, and she was going on bout him, so i decided to listen to some of the music, and i was not disappointed in the slightest.

  • when Dusty sang with the Springfields, i told my old mum if she ever went solo she would be brilliant, wasn't wrong was i. so sadly missed, live on in our memory Dusty your music will never die thank God

  • Thumbs up if you typed "i don't know what to do"

  • Really fabulous!!! I think Dusty sang beautifully, and

    all the right songs.

    Rest In Peace Dusty.

  • the early 60's were such a wonderful period, people aspired for a better life, the entertainment was blooming, everything was evolving in a better way, just listen to this song by Dusty this is the early 60's.

  • Adele might be the world's only hope to rescue puppies.

  • What a beautiful song!

  • I reckon The White Stripes did it justice :)

  • @LittleQueenie55

The White Stripes version is INSPIRED. Who but they would have turned this song into rock epicness?

  • I've only been a fan of Dusty since, My Best Friend's Wedding :(

  • Dusty is pure class. Her young rival is Adele. Once in a life time you get singers like these in the UK xx

  • @Traceyuknow Adele might be the world's only hope to rescue popular music.

  • On another Dusty site, people were talking about Dustys slump as a singer

during the 70's. Lets not forget she spent years with the group

The Springfields during the 50's, early 60's cranking out many hit records. Dusty was a world wide "Mega Musical Star" An "Icon". Never Forgotton....

  • Best female singer Britain has produced. Sadly missed

  • Dusty proved a white, English woman could sing soul.

  • @enigmaticbee yep. huge voice on this lady.

  • Dusty had pure SOUL=Thank you so much for this

  • Pure class. great singer, great song.

  • utterly peerless british female vocalist

  • Makes your hair stand on end when she hits those high notes. Totally brilliant, and one of my favourite Dusty songs (of many).

  • that is brilliant

  • Oh this so magnificent.

    Loved that Dusty!!!!

    Sing it girl.

    REST IN PEACE.

    THANKS,

  • amazing what you can do with PVC pipe lol

  • shes beautiful

  • Its all about the music Dusty was huge in the 60's and rightfully so. She still gets air time 45years on ...God Bless you Dusty.

  • I was London stage manager and went on a musical theatre course, in which we had to do ensemble singing of some of Dustys songs, during a discussion I put my hand up and said to the Director and class" Ill bet you didnt know one of Dustys songs was in Lord Of The Rings " You sure John? Yup it was" I just dont know what to do with my ELF ! "(-:

  • UNA DE LAS CANCIONES DE LA PELICULA LA BODA DE MI MEJOR AMIGO

  • this stupid thats what i think

  • class all the way.

  • @CrankCase08

Shouldn't you be happy that modern performers are paying tribute to the artists of old. Or are you just mad that you are a fan of old? You don't see Gaga or Beiber doing covers of great artists so respect the ones who do.

  • this is for dawn on sheppy

  • Hermoooosaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • The White Stripes ficou muito melhor (:

  • Fantastic song,great singer.

  • great song, fab singer, much missed.

  • is that the wall of sound?

  • I had forgotten this song but was watching "My Best Friend's Wedding" last night and when Cameron Diaz butchered this up singing it to her soon to be fiance,it rang a bell. When I looked it up,I realized it was just another GREAT by one of my favorite gal singers of all time,Dusty. She was terrific! No one could do a heart throb song like her.

  • I can't help but think she's just stacked toilet rolls up to set the scene XD

  • Dusty... greatest of all time.

  • an elegant, lovely lady forever and always..RIP Dusty dear

  • such a lovely voice on a wonderul woman, lost to us far too early, RIP hon

  • One of the greatest voices of all time, and also a really nice person

  • The ultimate break up song...

  • @wigh0355 - I agree!! This is a great emotional song!!! I could listen to it every day and not tire of it!!! RIP Dusty!!! Your fantastic music lives on!!!!

  • 60 people are giving knuckle dragging a bad name

  • Mooi liedje. In Amsterdam is er op het moment een Dusty Springfield tentoonstelling 'Dusty Days'. We hebben er een item van gemaakt. Kijk op onze afspeellijst onder musea op onze youtube pagina.

  • SHE WAS THE WORLDS GREATEST FEMALE SINGER. END OF

  • @gazzah54 Not quite. Try listening to Mireille Mathieu, and she's still performing after looking after her voice.

  • one of the greatest songs of all time a with great voice.. my god , 1964..what a year for music and life...

  • mooie tijd.

    deze is voor mijn zus.

    mis je vreselijk.

    was je nog maar hier.

    voor altijd in mijn hart.

  • England's Julie London.

  • Now I know what to do with my left over PVC pipe.

  • @mdostay you're listening to one of the greatest female voices ever to come out if the UK, singing one of the best songs in her repertoire, and all you can say is this trite comment?? Sad.

  • OMG i thought this song was a jack white original before i discovered this video. But i like the white stripes cover better still.

  • just another great IRISH EXPORT go MARY

  • How can a woman sing a song better then this? Impossible.

  • absolutely fabulously spectacular

  • which version does cameron diaz sing in my best frnds weddin ??

  • The lip sync is out, is this a mime ??????

  • Interesting about the Doctor Who take. Originally I couldn't see how that applied to a song about the loss of purpose, but of course a control room set would inform that just as poetically as rolled blueprints. The former is a little insular, perhaps, but maybe not for a British audience, for whom this was originally aimed.

  • Great stage set--abstract rolled "plans" referencing blueprints--and watch what she does with her hands at 2:04-2:08. High-style crossed with pop grammar. Not to mention the song! Pretty great, all of it.

  • @drobbi Agreed! My own first thought was that this set very strongly emulates aspects of the original TARDIS control room set, credited to Peter Brachaki. The BBC TV series Doctor Who first screened in late 1963, so that would have been a very fresh visual reference for people also viewing this 1964 performance. The set design looks futuristic even today in 2011. I think the resemblance is too strong to be coincidental.

(Oh - I see Cybervisionstar has noted the same thing)

  • thanks for the upload. I love dusty

  • crap cameron diaz reminds me of this song...

  • the white stripes' version is good too

  • Dusty must be turning in her grave after listening to the white strips version of this classic

  • ...does anyone bother to pay attention to the set designs- some very inexpensive and effective sets on these 1960's b&w videos.

  • I hav never understoood this film/vid.

Her hair is parted one way until 1.50, when she emerges from behind the scenery. And from then on, it's parted the other way !

  • CLASSIC X

  • Girl's hair is better nowadays.

  • @chailizard She's not a girl. In 1964, everyone wasn't trying to look (or act or sing) like a 13 year old.

  • Some assmunch came to my channel and told me Dusty is better than Patsy Cline. Freaking hilarious. I think he must be on crack

  • I don't know either!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know either!!!

  • Brilliant. :D

  • 54 people apparently know what to do

  • This song makes me cry and I don't know why!

  • [Cankuman8] I know you're entitled to your opinion, but come on, its like comparing the beatles to Katy perry

  • happy birthday dusty.we all miss you,so much.favorite song---something in my eye--richard carpenter.

  • this is very good bu I prefer White Stripes cover

  • Still LOVE this. My kids tell me I live in the past but I don't see it that way. In the sixties people were so much nicer and had more patience..

  • @coratris they will understand if they survive the next big catastrophe/war

  • Ahead of its time. Happy B-day lady!

  • Happy Birthday Dusty

  • Happy birthday Dusty Springfield!

    She's amazing.

  • oh how I love this so

  • "my best friend's wedding"

    ^_^

  • No question, the best ever from the UK, the USA, or any where else!

  • Heard on "My Best Friend's Wedding."

  • Check out 1.49 see how her hair parting changes sides..Strange, but hey dusty was the best just magical just like the hair

  • Hard to enjoy this version since I first heard the white stripes cover.

  • Fabulous Song, Incredible singer.... HORRible set !! UGGGGLLLY!!

  • What an amazing set! Pure 60s. So much white plastic, it must be the work of Ralph Koltai.

  • So soulful hit burns......just great

  • You got it wrong Angie she know what to do alright ' shoot the white bitch , motherfukka' great lyrics we get from the neanderthals. They'll be around as long as this song !!!!!

  • nowadyas she would be wearing a skimpy bikini while black rappers shout : "Yeah Yeah she don't know what to do"

  • @AngieMFAK77 not Dusty. She would be wearing vintage couture and making people focus on the MUSIC...exactly like Adele is doing right now...

  • @arezeeisme .. i totally agree and i would love the hear Adele cover this

  • @eggy1962 Great idea! Adele singing any of Dusty Springfield's songs would be a real treat!

  • @AngieMFAK77 lmfao! so true...and so sad.

  • @AngieMFAK77 She wouldn't because that's not who Dusty is. You don't see artists like Adele doing what everybody else does today. They hold a regard for the music, not appearance.

  • she is fondly missed...great voice, great lady

  • I Was A Junior In High School with the Love Of My Life in "64".

This Song "Echo's" In My Heart.

  • she sounds like a black singer

  • I just bought this fancy new phone right before I moved to England but my AT&T plan doesn't have international calling, so now I just don't know what to do with my cellphone.....

  • @TerenceFlanagan8 Hello Bieber fan here, I LIKE this video.

  • I Often Wonder If These "Musical Giants" Know or Knew What An Impact They

Made On Our Lives With Their Music!

Dusty Was One Of Those Women Who Sang & I Don't Think She Knew How Important She Was In The "Sound-Track" Of Our Lives.

    RIP Dusty

  • I first saw Dusty in 1964 in concert in my home town...the love affair began.

I actually met her in London in 1986......magical.

    I miss her so much.

  • Dusty and Freda Payne both use their hands and arms as a form as "expression".

Oh Dam, I miss Dusty! RIP

  • awesome song probably her best ever..its so nice to hear a song that tells a story...it must mean a lot to couples that have split up...it does to me

  • Dusty you were a diamond, a jewel of the Pop World. A great song sung by a class act. Good on Yer! Dusty.

  • Magnificent xxx love to you Dusty xx

  • Just look at her.. those eyes, her hairdo, the way she carries herself and ofcourse that voice.... the Grand Dame of the sixties. This lady was pure class to the very end!

  • A massive tune delivered with great power and feeling. A wonderful voice.

  • AT 1:54 WHEN SHE COMES BACK AROUND THE BRICKS HER HAIR IS PARTED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE.

  • @cybervisionstar These things happen when you walk into a tardis.

  • @cybervisionstar Brilliant observation, I like you already just for noticing that!

  • When you have just split up after going out with a girl for 20 months this song hurts. That was 1964 and hell fire it still hurts.

  • who's hitting "thumbs down" on this?? really!! someone please tell me!! ...probably people who think that Dusty covered the White Stripes, and wondering why the vid is in black and white and not HD color. ...ridiculous.

  • @scranchdip don't laugh they most likely think that

  • @scranchdip Oh no! A whole 2.8% of youtube subscribers that have seen this video don't like it! Surely it must be the White Stripes' fault! Let's all vote for the comment that points out how many people disliked it and how they're wrong! That way every single video on youtube can have a top comment pointing out how many people dislike the video! Yay! Great song by Dusty by the way.

  • @ekaminar she didn't write it

  • @tickyticktick You're right, Bert Bachrach wrote this & many of Dusty's hits, pretty hard to imagine the mid - late sixties without Bachrach's songs

  • @ekaminar The White Stripes is strictly for pretentious pseuds who consider disharmony to be cool.
