"But they don't understand how I feel about the funk. I walk with the funk, talk with the funk. Eat with the funk, sleep with the funk. I live for the funk, I'll die for the funk." -The Chief Rockas, the Lords of the Underground.
it's one thing to think that you're going to be the next jay-z, or to put all your energy into rapping when you should have contingency plans, but can't a nigga have a hobby without being called fake or a wannabe? #justsayin
i have a friend who is an aspiring future poet. She's talented, but she's what we like to call a starving artist. She has a lot of feelings to get out and it would mean the world if you could encourage her, and follow her blog emptystatic-silence.blogspot. com feel free to critique or applause her. She could really use your help! thanks so so much!
NAW , I THINK SHE HATING . IF A NIGGA WANA RHYME JUS FOR FUN , LET HIM . LOL
DANG, YOU SHOULD NEVER TELL SOMEBODY PUT THE PEN DOWN , IF YOU WANA DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO IT FINE , THEY DON'T FINE , JUST APPRECIATE THAT LIDDO APPRECIATION AND LOVE THEY GIVE TO THE ART FORM... EVEN IF ITS DIPPIN THEY FOOT IN THE WATER, NOT SWIMMIN
She is an incredible and for real voice of the streetz. Not just NY streets but nationally. And I truly believe she'll die for what she believes in which is the "real" Hip Hop.
Man, this video reminds me of how much I miss Def Poetry. I can't get it while on my college's cable package, and my mom dropped HBO since I'm hardly home anymore. :(
i bet the 34 people who disliked this are part of the 40 emcees shes talkin about, i wonder wat happened to the other 6, probably dead hahaha.... this is some real ish(not to mention she a cutie)

That's why i listen to a few underground groups. Amanda Diva know's what sh'es saying. I can't listen to mainstream anymore. Its just crap. Its dead. yo a lot of people think that they don't have to work hard to make it. They think that talent is all you need or the right opportunity but thats why its a lot of garbage out here because those garbage niggas worked hard as hell and still workin hard to put shit out while the most talented niggas talkin about some real shit fall short cause they can't or won't do the work it takes.
@hiphopiam BULLSHIT!~ The truth is garbage nigga's are picked up not because they work harder, but because they're willing to do anything for the money, including mislead and demean their own people. A real Mc, a real Poet, won't sell themselves and become sluts to major multi million dollar labels to survive.
Besides, true artists are purposefully declined opportunities, because they'd rather not teach the people who listen to the music.

Also, the ones that haad to get jobs, HAD TO GET JOBS, its an imature and selfish person who refuses to support people that rely on them because they HAVE TO chase their dream, sometimes u have to sacrifice your dream for ure chilren or mother to eat...
my problem is not with the message of the poem, only that it is stating the obvious and doesnt account for the reality that life isnt black and white easy...
but if ur passionate about something u wouldn't let your job slow u down from ur aspiration of rapping. just because u need to get a job doesn't mean u HAVE to stop writing.
calm down jack. You still don't get it. Bottom line, Q-tip said it best, "rappin nigga forreal, You could find me in a cipher if i didn't have a deal." period. Folks like you get on this internet & talk like you know wassup. I am a poet, and i speak on what I feel. Who are you to say that I have no place to address emcees that exploit a culture of artistry for solely materialistic means? Get off your soapbox and listen again. Furthermore i wrote this in 2001 Soulja Boy was a 5th grader.
please shut the fuck up with the "folks like you" shit ive been spittin for years, makin tracks and just rappin with people, i go to university, and have a job dont talk as tho u know me.If u understood what my problem was, u'd see its not the adressing those who exploit, but calling those who have to make their situatuion work and therefore put JUST rhyming on the backburner until they can concentrate on it sellouts..."IM A POET" doesnt mean ure above critisism either...soulja boy was an EXAMPLE
well put. why the hell do people think she is talking about certain people? she didnt drop any names, how the hell do you get soldier boy out of 40 mc's? Just goes to show, just to many rappers and not enough fans.
This poem IS stating the obvious, Twiggs, but you have yet to see it. I am also a poet with two children. I keep my music and poetry going WITHOUT having to sacrifice neither because my poetry IS AS MUCH A PART OF ME AS MY CHILDREN ARE! True poetry lives in the soul. This poem was pointing out those who don't have it in theirs. They're not REAL MC's. I don't have to choose between being BLACK and being a dad because my skin cannot be changed. My soul can't be either. REAL LYRICS CAN'T be faked.
Some people are built to be certain things in life. Not everybody can be an MC. THAT is the reality that YOU don't see, Twiggs. Amanda Diva ended this poem telling those who don't have the truest essence of an MC to put their pens down and do something else...whatever they were meant to do. In short, just because someone WANTS to rap, doesn't mean they are supposed to. If they have to choose between something and music, that means they are not supposed to be doing music in the first place.
yes that's exactly what im saying. There are no shots at soulja boy or Ma$e lol. i wrote this in 2001. One was in elementary school and the other was still on BadBoy!
I'm going to recite this poem at my school's assembly tomorrow. Yea I expect to get suspended.....

Also, the ones that haad to get jobs, HAD TO GET JOBS, its an imature and selfish person who refuses to support people that rely on them because they HAVE TO chase their dream, sometimes u have to sacrifice your dream for ure chilren or mother to eat...
my problem is not with the message of the poem, only that it is stating the obvious and doesnt account for the reality that life isnt black and white easy...
regards,
Twiggs Munroe.

but if ur passionate about something u wouldn't let your job slow u down from ur aspiration of rapping. just because u need to get a job doesn't mean u HAVE to stop writing.

calm down jack.
