I can't tell out of this performance, but hudging by her other live performances that I've seen, both on video and in person, she sounds just as perfect live as she does on the recorded track. Anyway, she definitely was lipsynching in this clip, but I agree with the people who say it doesn't take away from her artistry. I've also learned that some people will never 'get' Bjork so it's a waste of time to even try. The rest of us can continue to obsess over her inhuman perfection. :)

I can't tell out of this performance, but hudging by her other live performances that I've seen, both on video and in person, she sounds just as perfect live as she does on the recorded track. So even if she IS lip-synching in this one performance, I can guarantee you, she's absolutely talented and it's really hard to tell by hearing her whether something of hers is live or not.

She was lip-syncing. But then again, wouldn't you if you were in front of that ridiculously huge crowd? Also, she's sung live for over 30 years. I think we all know she can sing. So can we grant her a get-out-of-jail-for-free card just this once and move on with our lives?

Bjork WAS NOT LIPSYNCHING. Regarding angel203's statement, several mini-audio pickup devices were securely attached to her costume. These hi-def mikes are the newest electronic feature being utilized by the CIA, NASA, the military, and are being toyed about by the NFL. Sorta like the communication badges worn by StarTrek Next Generation. That idea.

She was lip synching. There's no way she could have sang just like the original. And maybe there was something wrong with her voice at the time? She couldn't just walk away from the olympics could she? She is a great singer but great singers lip synch sometimes..

Actually. As much as I love bjork... You can always tell when she is lipsyncing for the mere fact she doesn't "twitch" as much when lipsyncing. Watch another video of her lipsyncing, then watch a true live one. She can't help but move her FULL body around. That's what she does. There is nothing wrong with lipsyncing sometimes. And look how much room they had to fill up with perfect acoustics. No voice can do that, no matter how many little "CIA, NASA," blah blah mics are hooked to them.

And besides it's a huge stage production. The Olympic organizers did not have time for her, or any other band, to set up their sound system, etc. There were so many different acts, they just needed to save time and have beautiful Bjork lipsynch. Not an insult to her as an artist. Not in the slightest.

well she hates singing lipsynching, but she was asked to sing lipsynching, as the producers of the shows didnt have enough space for the instruments and the production of the song, they were only in charge of the scene which was a lot of work

SW Simpson is beyond Ignorant in even daring to compare the lowly Sinead Oconnor with Bjork.
For one Bjork is older than Sinead and has been an artist since childhood, studied at Julliard. Sinead shaved her head, sang a song Prince wrote (nothing compares to u) and ripped up a pic of the pope on TV, I guess that puts her in the same category as a genius such as Bjork. NOT.

What a fabulous performance! Also, most Olympic performers are forced to mime their songs as it is too technically complicated to arrange for live vocals when you are dealing with so many people and such wide spaces.

I was just kidding. Bjork is very talented- bizarre, violent toward pretty female reports, but very talented. Sinead is Okay- I feel sorry for her career being destroyed over tearing up a photo and her reasons were ignored- she was protesting priests molesting boys in Ireland. Sinead is a great vocalist, Bjork is a talented performance artist. But I would hardly an O'Connor fan, I just dont like injustice when people are merely speaking out against that which is evil.

Yeah I agree that the the camra-men didn't capture the dress hovering over the 20,000 plus athletes in order to imitate the ocean but. Little did you know that if you where to unravel the layers of the dress Bjork is wearing would reveal a 30,000 square foot map of planet earth. Truly artistic.
