Not really man, The car's future was a junk yard, where they'd just crush it anyway, so its actually a pretty good thing to have some fun with the beast before its done.
Hey, Its not that easy. For sure. They are some seriously awesome cars, but they didn't sell well, mainly because they were such a new brand, had no established place. That and the 40,000 price tag in 91 didn't really help :)
But yeah, they're aren't many in the junk yards, and even parts stores don't have many of the parts. and if they do they're generally pretty expensive... Its rough. But worth it if you're really deticated, because the things are crazy powerful.
What is it with people associating having some stupid fun with cars, and or mud, with the idea of being rednecks? Is it just because people are assholes?
Thanks man! Yeah, we're really big toyota fans, so we've been wanting to try out a lexus for a while now. Those especially have to be alot of fun. There were a few years where the q45 ran at full power... :) and man it was crazy. on the road, it went sideways and did donuts everywhere. Incredible power from that incredible nissan :) The black 93 was very impressive as well. though it wasn't posi, and had traction control instead. but you could turn that off.
Drew has known this car for at least 5 years, he helped put a trans in it, completely replaced all the rear suspension and axle, spent countless hours working on this thing over the years, Gone insanely sideways on roads everywhere, done over 150MPH in it... YOU, you don't know what a Q45 is...
???? What? An infiniti Q45??? Are you out of your mind? The front and back are pretty ugly, but the side's are cool looking, the inside is awesome, and the drive train is damn near incredible. Do you know about these cars? Awesome suspension, damn near 300HP, RWD, Posi... They are seriously incredible nissans. for sure. This one had a charging issue, and as the battery would die, it would get slower and slower. Needed full electric power for full power.
4500cc Four Cam Variable Valve Speed, V8. a coil on each spark plug... Just a crazy amount of stuff about these... Awesome cars man. For sure. though ugly ford looking front end.
So, i'm guessing you stopped watching it right away right? Being that the whole video is pretty much all the same.
Though, i have to tell you, its not destroying the car. Might not be as good for it as changing the oil, but it sure as hell wasn't destroying it. If the charging system had still worked, (Stopped charging when it was still a road vehicle) Then it would have had its full 279 HP, and it probably would have been getting beaten badly. But the 50HP was easy on it.
still all that nasty terrible clay mud is getting inside every seal and electrical component on the vehicle, when it dryes on the exhaust it will become a hard porcelain shell. Not to mention the damage its doing to the paint.
"every" seal and electrical component?? Drying into a hard porcelain shell on the exhaust?? :) Seriously? I'm guessing you've never done anything like this then. And damaging the paint? What?
The fact that it is only minorly bad for any seals it might come in contact with, the mud has never, (and never will) be melted into a hard shell on the exhaust, and the electrical components were fine, All that aside, the car was retired from the road, because it needed to much work.
yeah, it was having all sorts of problems with electrical stuff. The one day on the road, it stopped charging, and ran like total shit, and the more dead the battery got, the less power it had. if you threw a really well charged battery in it, it ran pretty good for a minute or two.
i have a 1997 ford tarus fwd and its bad ass in mud and snow it will go thur anything there really good off road cars!!!! just about anything that fwd is!
True True, our 1983 tercel is amzing in the field. Crazy fun too. But rear wheel drive cars are fun in completly different ways that front wheel drive car's can't do. and vice versa. they both have their own awesome stuff about them.
haha, yep, i forget the exact weight, but i think its only a hundred or two away from 4000. huge heavy car! amazing how fast it goes, and how well it handles. incredibly nissan! what rims does your's have?
I got them with the car, and I'm pretty certain they are Konig Crosshairs, also silver.
What ever they are, they are Konigs, and they are very nice. This car is only my second after owning a 1988 Volvo 240DL, ha ha. It was quite a step up from the Volvo to my Q45.
it was called datsun laurel back in 1984 in europe but in the usa they already sold it as nissan maxima. the 2394 cc engine is almost identical to the 240z's one. 120 hp, 5 speed manual, the cars weight is only 1100 kg (yet its a full size). technics are all fine but the previous owner had a crash and probably exposed it to rain. so its covered with rust. thats my problem and when its done it will be my first car. id tried to find a front bench seat but they sold buckets standard even in the US.
Thats got to be an awesome car. i just checked it out on wikipedia. it also says that it came with a diesel 2.8L! which would probably be slow but cool. yeah... people really dig buckets, i'm into the bench seat thing too. its a shame, alot of cars could be cooler if they had bench seats. Thats gonna be a fun car, you're lucky!
thanks. i will upload a vid when its done. but expect nothing special, i just wanna have something to drive. i tried at first to purchase a diesel but now im lucky that i failed. recently diesel costs about the same as gas over here. up to 1.5 euro (2.21 dollar) per litre (0.27 US gallon) but you have to pay higher taxes and the diesel has surprisingly less torque than the gas engine which has approx. 130 lb/ft
Cool i'd like to see the car. i'm not into people doing crazy stuff to cars, i really just like them the way they are. yeah, non turbo diesels are normally pretty weak. (not that i mind!) i just changed the oil in my jetta, and i checked out the manual, brand new its got 52 HP. i forget what the torque is. but 52... man. 1986 even. i get 42 MPG though so its cool. if VW made a 52HP diesel today, it would probably get 100+mpg. its sad they don't.
VW once tried it with a 78 mpg compact ("3L Lupo", 61hp). nobody wanted to have one because they charged $30.000. german brands like bmw or mercedes want to have the performance image in europe. so they use the good technology (compared to peugeot) to build strong not economical cars.
i want to keep my car stock, maybe with headers and lsd but parts for this one are few. in no case i would lower it, mount huge rims or a spoiler, do a fancy paintjob or bolt on LCDs underneath. evil ricer stuff...
drew has 2 Q45's, both have too many problems for the road. Don't judge this one by how its running, its got some electrical problems. the engine is the INSANE aluminum VH45DE 4.5L 4 OHC V8. 279HP. on the road this car HAS gone crazy sideways everywhere, donuts, powerbreaked, and gone at least 150MPH.
The other infiniti's not posi, its got traction control, but theres a button for it. Drew replaced the rear in this, theres a sticer that says "Vicious LSD" Its Serious.
Nissan have pumped out a serious number of RWD cars. all the Z cars are RWD as far as i know. 240Z's and all those. This is an infiniti though, which is the luxury line of the nissan company.
its cool, on this sticker under the hood, it says all the power information about the engine, then, "created by nissan"
which is an awesome thing to say. i'd be proud of the car if i was them. this video dosn't represent that though. It was running like dump.
oh yeah, these things are very very rear wheel drive. and this one's posi. drew had it on the road, and one day it stoped charging, and instantly started running like this. the more dead the battery gets, the slower it runs. this was a shitty battery to start out with so the whole video its pretty slow. i was thinking about putting a starter/generator rom a tractor on it to keep the volts up, that could make it run normal. I'll Get the video of the other one up soon. FULL POWER!
what a shame to do that to a luxury car... :\

Does it really weigh almost 4,000 lbs?
That would explain why I could never push it by myself.
