I worked for Darrell and Scott in 1997 on their pro stock trucks during the exhibition year. Warren came by our pit in Sonoma while I was working on one of the trucks and talked to me for awhile. W.J. isn't a bad guy, but drag racing is his job and he takes it real serious. I asked him if he was going to build a truck for 1998 and he laughed and told me that if he built a truck it would go in circles and make more money!

What's this got to do with being a Chevy fan? It took a long time for WJ to get his sponsor. He was racing for decades out of his own pocket and worked his way up. He worked hard to get that sponsor and deserved it, you can't just win without money you need it. I'm pretty sure those Mopar guys had a lot of money coming through as well and they were capable to win and did until they got to greedy.

The year of that race was 1994, and I do remember that race, If I remember correctly, Warren Johnson got into a staging battle with darn near everybody, Geoffrion, Darrell Alderman, Bob Glidden, Dave Connolly (if you remember Denver 2005) you name 'em, Warren has been in a staging duel with 'em all.

Geoffrion and Alderman eventually got the last laugh, they were 1 and 2 in the points that same year, Alderman 1st, Geoffrion 2nd, and W.J. 3rd.

When Alderman and Geffreon came back after a break they got nowhere, and it wasn't a break they came back from either they got banned from racing for cheating and some other things. Noone ever caught the dodge boys using nitrous, even after all of those tear downs.. inwich nothing was left in the car besides the bare block . But i just can't see them cheating when no proof was presented and they were tore down constintley to a bare block after event wins. where was the nitrous? how was it hooked up? Anyone who knows anything about using / setting nitrous knows its very hard to set up a hidden system much less get away with it for years of event wins in NHRA prostock..
