It is a confidence issue indeed, if his wife feels that he loves every part of her imperfect body.

She may get confident enough to set him loose.

Women, very many at least, only gets jealous like that if they feel the other one is more attractive.

Only way to get past that is to make the woman he is with feel that she is special to him, with the body she has.

Each couple has to decide for themselves what they want to try and not. For MANY couples it is a really enjoyable recreation they share. For others it goes even further and becomes long-term relationships with people. But lots of things can be unhealthy for a relationship... too much TV even.

It's only cheating if you believe it's cheating. When you're in a marriage, or a committed relationship, then you don't do ANYTHING, sexual or otherwise, without consent from your partner. That consent may come on a situational basis, or it may be understood - things you can do without asking, knowing it's OK with your partner. Swinging follows those same rules, provided the consent is NOT coerced. Cheating occurs when these rules are broken.

I wouldn't say that, do you mean the couple aren't into each other? Some of the couples we know who swing have been together and "into" each other for 20-30-40 or more years. And while Swinging doesn't have the same level of emotional intimacy that polyamory does, we still know plenty of couples that have a great deal of care and I'll dare say love for their long-term swinging partners.

They may have love for them, but I don't see how they can be *in* love with them. Like you said, it doesn't have the same amount of emotional intimacy. I'm not judging though, if people want to do that fine. I don't think it's good for people who have kids though which seems like a lot of them.

I would say we know many couples who love and are IN love with each other, and have love for the other couples, their long-term swing partners, even in love sometimes. I would say their/our having children has absolutely nothing to do with being or not being swingers or being polyamorous or being parents, EXCEPT to say they/we tend to be in my opinion better than average at communicating about sex and relationships when it comes time to teach their/our children such things.

Agree with Deb, Cheating is breaking the rules of the marriage as agreed to by the people involved. If the rules look different than what you think of or are used to, you may think it's cheating, ( staying with the game analogy ) when in reality they are playing a completely different game. Their marriage rules are completely different, so it isn't cheating. Dan&Jen had a GREAT deffinition, cheating is saying or doing something that you wouldn't say or do when your partner is with you.

Swinging... I think that this may be an activity some couples can pull off relatively easily. However, other people (myself included) in a marital relationship may not feel comfortable with their partner having sex with someone else. It all depends on how lenient you are, I suppose.

Great comment! You are absolutely right. Swinging is not for everyone. It will only word if both partners want to do it. You cannot 'convince' your partner that it's a good thing. You may be able to convince them to try it, but after that - it's time to talk... The important thing is that both partners be honest about their feelings from the beginning (and during and after if they decide to try it)

It absolutely can have this effect if the relationship was not strong enough to begin with.

That's why we never suggest this kind of thing as a fix for a struggling relationship. Bringing another person into your bedroom is guaranteed to amplify any insecurities, trust, communication, or jealousy issues that already exist in the relationship. An normally, these issues have not been dealt with up front. That's what caused the trouble...

Actually we know more than a few people who think closed marriages are sick with the disease of mistrust and jealousy, possessiveness and lack of respect. BUT hey, if monogamy is your thing I would fight for your right to enjoy it, everyone should have the right and freedom to define the relationships they want to engage in for themselves, NOT from someone else or the government telling them who they can or can't relate to and how they must or must not relate.

That's an interesting interpretation since in reality for the vast majority of the world, marriages are actually civil contracts designed for the maintaining of collected wealth and distribution of said wealth from one generation to another. And while Christianity might be a plurality, I doubt it's a true majority. In fact over the last 5 years every major denomination in the U.S. at one time or another has had large clinics and symposiums to try and address losses in numbers.

well as a perspective of being in my particular church of episcopalian, we have had a three way split recently due to the issue of gay marriage, the Anglican church in europe, my personal branch which does not favor the issue and the third branch which does, but gay marriage has been a huge issue amoung christian religions recently causing many people to switch and change religions and churchs recently, so if you were wondering why, thats going to be the most pressing issue right now

Actually, only a small percentage of our videos are on swinging - out of our more than 150 videos, only 16 are on the topic of swinging. We do feel that these are very important questions that deserve an answer.

Couples who are curious about swinging can really mess up their relationship if they do it for the wrong reasons, or don't get the important questions answered up front.
