The thing next to the rev counter is for highbeam.
many bikers go with highbeam on the autobahn for speeding so you will be seen earlier by the others.

at the start of the film, the N(eutral) light is on.
At 0:02 (2 seconds), you hear a clacking sound. That's the rider putting the bike in 1st gear.
