However, the victories against the Indians were hard fought and they were the first REAL challenge that the Macedonian army faced since conquering the other Greeks.

@mt7taba You're wrong. During the conquest of the Persian Empire, Alexander's numbers were never more than 50,000. Alexander also DID defeat Porus. He never lost a battle in his life. However, the victories against the Indians were hard fought and they were the first REAL challenge that the Macedonian army faced since conquering the other Greeks.

Alexander's empire lead to the spread of Hellenism which ultimately changed the world forever. That being said both were amazing men whomever you think is greater depends on whether you judge them based on the size of their empire or their total influence on history. That is a question I leave up to you.

Both the Macedonians/Greeks and the Persians pillaged and burned. That's what armies did back in those days.
