half the price more like double macs are a minimum of $1000 dollars where as with pc you could get just as good a laptop for $500 $400 even $300 dollars!!

@DannySmackaHo If you want to game a macbook is definetly not the way to go. There are still some really good gaming laptops out there under 1000$ made by asus and the dell xps 15 and stuff but a Macbook won't support high quality gaming, only the pros will.

No issues, it helps it came with Snow Leopard and the apps are still optimized for it. My older macs seem to slow down when trying to run the latest versions of apps like safari on a previous OS.
I got this one, well the mid-2010 one and it works really GREAT. This is my upgrade to my old PC that I had, the PC wasn't cutting it, at all. I use it for school (writing essays, powerpoints, excel docs.), gaming (works great, actually), email, MUSIC, photo. I got mine in February and it hasn't failed me once and I hope it doesn't. I hope, when I am done with schooling that I can get a pro. Great review.

@MachineGunGorilla But its new to iChat and to be fair alot easier to use than the PC equivalents. Its important to note this is actually remote control too, not just Skype screen-sharing.
It is fast enough to run Adobe CS5, does scratch very easy so use a case or protector. Also the keyboard sometimes hits the screen so put like a cleaning clothe between them when you close it.
I'm sorta confused with some things with iChat. I have gmail, so I used that for my Jabber. When I chat with my gmail friends I can just type, but not audio or video chats. And I didn't know about the screen sharing feature. I even decided to get an AOL account and had a friend get it and we tried to see if we could video chat, but nothing worked. Do these features only work between mac to mac? And does the certain account the person has matter?
I just got mine this week and am completely inlove with it, Much better than a pc and so much easier to use. Thanks for the review, helped me make the decision =]

Tough question. Yes I think it is fast. As fast as my MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz) for most things. Unless you want to edit HD video, it should be fast enough for most needs.
@purplemuffinman0198 It's perfect for anything and pretty much the only way to make this Mac slow, with only the normal 2 GB ram and 2.26 GHz processor, is to have like 6 applications open and a Vista Virtual Box.
where could you do reports? you know, like the ones you do on MSword for school. i know that there is ms office for mac but its quite expensive. i tried the trial but its not long enough for the school year.

@gryndelward i pissed off an apple tech by asking why anyone would get the base 13 inch macbook pro when all the specs are the same but the macbook pro has a smaller hard drive and costs 200 dollars more :D
this is actually better then the lowest spec macbook pro but its £102 less so this is a better deal and this is perfect for me because i dont open much at one time so 2gb memory is fine and i wont fill up 250 gb in a hurry also im a games fan and the graphics card on this is fine by me. i cannot wait to get it

for that sort of stuff, i would say ipad. if you dont need a disk drive, and youre just doing online type stuff, get an ipad. its more portable, and its cheaper.

Despite the nay sayers, i for one thought this was a brilliant review. I have been searching around for a review of this laptop, and this is the best youtube one i could find, most of the review's are on the Pro version, and not what i was looking for.
Lol Man if you hung up from the ceiling and u work ur mac upside down you ll also get dizzy but this is not the Mac's problem. You guys are struggling to find a disadvantage of having a Mac that u sometimes are losing ur mind. Having ur mac on ur lap and in this way taking the risk for the cord to pull off without noticing it, IS NOT A PROBLEM TO MENTION IN A SERIOUS REVIEW.
I'm confused. I said they improved it that much better. Are you concerned that I referred that the old plug was not a "perfect" design? My comment was not a knock, obviously Apple made a change to the plug. By making the design thinner, they must have identified the previous design was too bulky. I personally, owning two MacPros have had problems as I stated. They didn't stop me from loving my Mac.
Which laptop was the first one that you showed. The one where the magnet charger disengaged when you used it on your lap.

I like editing on my MacBook Pro. Not so much on the MacBook.
That is the best way to explain it.
Make sure to look into spending a tiny bit more and getting more power on the Pro

You mean streaming via Bluetooth?
Go to set up a Bluetooth device on your Mac.
Make sure your Bluetooth is "on" on your phone.
Make sure your phone is listening or discoverable.
Your Mac should find your phone and ask you to put in a code to synch.
Once you synch, click "browse device" on the mac. You should have access to your pic and videos.

Tough question. Yes I think it is fast. As fast as my MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz) for most things. Unless you want to edit HD video, it should be fast enough for most needs.

@purplemuffinman0198 It's perfect for anything and pretty much the only way to make this Mac slow, with only the normal 2 GB ram and 2.26 GHz processor, is to have like 6 applications open and a Vista Virtual Box.

where could you do reports? you know, like the ones you do on MSword for school. i know that there is ms office for mac but its quite expensive. i tried the trial but its not long enough for the school year.

@doghappy101 I guess thats the "old" Macbook, not the late 2009. The late 2009 has 2GB Ram and a 250GB HDD.

Great review. I really want a mac. I'm on a pc at the minute and I've never had a mac. Is it a waste of money because I know that there are other laptops out there for a lot cheaper. What are some of the cons about the MacBook?

@gryndelward i pissed off an apple tech by asking why anyone would get the base 13 inch macbook pro when all the specs are the same but the macbook pro has a smaller hard drive and costs 200 dollars more :D

this is actually better then the lowest spec macbook pro but its £102 less so this is a better deal and this is perfect for me because i dont open much at one time so 2gb memory is fine and i wont fill up 250 gb in a hurry also im a games fan and the graphics card on this is fine by me. i cannot wait to get it

i havnt even watched the review yet but less than an hour ago i brought home a brand new white macbook(latest) and just wanted to say to whoever wants to know that its just amazing, its like just the atmosphere is amazing and i think its better than the pro(but the pro is still hands down amazing!!!)

for that sort of stuff, i would say ipad. if you dont need a disk drive, and youre just doing online type stuff, get an ipad. its more portable, and its cheaper.

I have wondered that as well.
My guess is that if you'll ever need to photoshop pics or use word or excel you'd want a mouse and a keypad to make life easier.

get an imac buddy, im 13 and saved up for a year, goddamn it was worth it, itsa beauty man, really amazing, u get double the spec on an imac for the same price :) and a better display MUCh better display :D x

Despite the nay sayers, i for one thought this was a brilliant review. I have been searching around for a review of this laptop, and this is the best youtube one i could find, most of the review's are on the Pro version, and not what i was looking for.

Lol Man if you hung up from the ceiling and u work ur mac upside down you ll also get dizzy but this is not the Mac's problem. You guys are struggling to find a disadvantage of having a Mac that u sometimes are losing ur mind. Having ur mac on ur lap and in this way taking the risk for the cord to pull off without noticing it, IS NOT A PROBLEM TO MENTION IN A SERIOUS REVIEW.

I'm confused. I said they improved it that much better. Are you concerned that I referred that the old plug was not a "perfect" design? My comment was not a knock, obviously Apple made a change to the plug. By making the design thinner, they must have identified the previous design was too bulky. I personally, owning two MacPros have had problems as I stated. They didn't stop me from loving my Mac.
