i wonder why this nasl fail it seem like they had bunch of fans following this sport in america i wonder how would this sport been if this league would had never fallen apart
@bigpopparamma -Miami was not a original franchise,they came into the league about 2 yrs later,and along with Tampa Bay where folded after the 2002 season long way from the Strikers and Rowdies of the NASL heyday
-hopefully next season when Portland Timbers move up to MLS they renew the rivilary with the Sounders MLS go back to the old NASL shootouts get rid of the tie
also San Jose were one of the original MLS teams but they rrelocated to Houston and became the Dynamo. Couple years later, San Jose was brought back in MLS.
Philadelphia,Portland, & Vancouver are joining the MLS.....maybe down the road you will see Miami,Tampa Bay,Minnesota,Montreal, or St. Louis get an MLS team.
Hey on the off chance do you know if Graham Day played this match? he now runs my local pub here in Bristol Uk. Only found out he played in the USA a few wks back.
Can't believe some guys are playing with no shin guards, and the keepers with no gloves!
The Kingdome astroturf was the worst of the worst. So many injuries from it (ask Curt Warner), and the place was just damned dark inside. What a rotten stadium.
Agree Football and Soccer should be on real grass, but FieldTurf is not bad stuff.
When Qwest Field was designed, a natural grass surface was planned for the facility. However, when the Seattle Seahawks played at the U. of Washington's Husky Stadium for 2 years while the Kingdome was torn down to make way for Qwest Field, they liked the FieldTurf surface the Huskies used, so they decided to install it at Qwest Field. I believe that soccer and football should be on real grass, but the FieldTurf was needed due to Seattle's rainy climate.
It was a different time. No choreographed celebrations like you see all over the NFL and NBA these days. This was back when athletes played for a team, not for themselves and the latest endorsement deal. ME ME ME is all that most athletes of today worry about. Of course the media doesn't help. It's not longer the Lakers & Caveliers but "Kobe Bryant and the Lakers against Lebron James and the Cavaliers".

@indyfan22k
they will play on Field Turf but they are remodeling the stadium so it would look like a legitimate soccer stadium.

Cool to see this footage. Amazing it exists.

Wow, they score and then became "very enthusiastic" or sad like "oh no, I scored against my team.

I was at this game. That first goal was classic Alan Hudson. As I recall, Derek Smethurst scored all five goals. Memories.
