It's the fact that soccer hasn't become a fucking slow sport like american football, due to camera reviews and what not, that makes the players able to do these things. Basketball isn't a slow sport, but apart from Dennis Rodman and Vlade Divac you don't see many floppers out there. You definitely don't see anyone convulsing on the ground as though being attacked by a swarm of bees. Soccer may not have a lot of stops but that doesn't make it exciting. A game of people running up and down the field, kicking the ball into hordes of opposing players for an hour and a half only for it to end in a 0-0 tie is not going to catch on in America.
