I discovered the terrible sad news about Ian Howarth. Ian Howarth is on these videos, Petula Clark Sargeant Pepper, One More Time, Brewery Tap Brentford, Ian Sharing A tale, Washboard Solo, Drum Solo. Tony Webley.
Saw the Temperance Seven at the Keswick Jazz Festival a few years ago. Brilliant - what a night of funny entertainment. Don't know if they are still going ...
I discovered it"s Willie Entwhistle on Saxophone, not Mike Higham. He"d left after many years. I remember him well with the Syncopaters, as a Vicar. Vincent Turton, not Burton, was on the Tuba. He was funny too in the act. Tony Webley.
Singing Trombonist out of tune. Still is. Now in a band as Temperance 7. Those copiests have half of Vintage Syncopators! terrible. Ive seen them. Definitely Charlie Smart on Banjo. I lived in the north, 1960s and 70s. Saw Syncopators lots. Ian Howarth was the star, amazed everybody on Drums, a clever comical announcer too, and nearly allways brought house down. Funnyest act Ive ever seen. You Tube item is one number in their act which was an hour long. Fantastic. Tony Webley.
Lets face it! Ian Howarth"s brilliant Drumming drove that band. The Banjoist (?Charlie Smart?) Is the next best. The rest of where just in it for the money. Tony Webley.
"My Blue Heaven" as you've never seen it played before! Great stuff.
