and captain ben thank you for putting me on to the lx..it looks more durable than most reels out these days and you were right, it is fine for shark fishing, even from land..you can fit 600 yards of 80 lb braid on that..i think its possible to even land a nice 80-100 lb tarpon from shore on an sx if you could get like 300 yards of line on it..all the avets seem like real good reels..wish i could afford a couple more, lol
Yeaaah! I love shark fishing. Fought a black tip for 2 and a half hours and we got it to the back of the boat and the damn thing jumped up and the tail knocked it off the line. Capt, Why does the audio sound so weird?
yeah thats how i chum too if im at a place where i can, just cut threadfins or greenbacks with sissors and let the blood out..then i'll throw a big hunk of meat on and wait..i got 3 of those guys off the beach down in naples last week..the rods were going off one after another then the bite stopped as suddenly as it started..but chumming on a beach is not an option for obvious reasons, lol
nah i'd never chum at the beach..i'm actually tarpon fishing anyways but i'll take a shark if the kings aren't biting..if you get a 5-6 footer or better it freaks some people out..got a nearly 7 ft hammerhead on an avet lx recommended by the good captain here and some of the people that came over were like "there's sharks in here?", LOL..the snowbirds get freaked out as it is
lol i know wat u mean i fish at johns pass in st pete area and i caught a lil blacktip and hammerhead and there was a couple that swims by the beach came up to me and asked me were i caught it lol like they coulndt believe there were sharks in the area XD
yep sharks like beaches near passes..but they get a bad rep..i've never had problems and i swim all the time..i swim my bait out about 100 yards from the beach while a friend watches my rods..i'll drag a few yards of leader behind to keep the bait away though, lol..the only thing i worry about is bullsharks, i've seen sharks like 5-7 feet long only 20 feet or so away from me and they usually either get spooked away or not even acknowledge me..people dive near them in the keys all the time!
lol ya well i still wont swim in that area :l lol always been scared of sharks especially since I heard bull sharks can swim in freshwater to :o lol, but I never seen something that big that close to shore before that would freak me out lol
yeah bullsharks have been found MILES inland..impressive that they can adapt to fresh water..they are mean too, more testosterone than any animal out there which is why they are so aggressive..i've seen people on tv dive alongside great whites before, but never a bullshark, that should tell you something right there
if u keep on yap yap yapping imma b deaf!
