  • my favorite commercial ever

  • I love London and United Air Lines!! See you in the friendly skies tomorrow on LAX-LHR in J class!

  • @Pi7473000 tell me more!! please...

  • In a nutshell, United no longer does international flights from New York.

Among US-based carriers, only American, Delta, and Continental (Newark) provide intercontinental flights from the nation's largest urban area.

  • @ultraback29 That all changes October 1st, 2010. United will be the dominant carrier at Newark.

  • The six US Cities are/Were:

EWR, JFK, ORD, IAD, LAX, SFO

  • EWR / JFK shares a city (New York) after all....

  • what are the 6 US cities ? I am guessing JFK, IAD, LAX, SFO, ORD, DEN

  • JFK IAD LAX SFO ORD and I want to say SEA (all from Pan-Am) because UA never did DEN-LHR until 2008

  • UA no longer flies to London from JFK and reportedly is dropping the DEN-LHR route, and eliminating 1 of 2 flights from SFO.

  • WRONG, UA do fly that route LHR - JFK =P

  • Sorry my friend -- it is you who are wrong. UA only flies to LAX, SFO and IAD nonstop from JFK. There are no UA flights on UA aircraft between JFK and LHR or vice versa. To get to LHR from JFK on UA, you need to fly to IAD first.

I spend half my life on UA flights and fly in/out of JFK often. Trust me, I know what I am talking about.

  • lol you didnt mention "non-stop" flights :P

you can still get to JFK from LHR with UA :)

  • Point taken. Made an assumption.

  • Don't take your guitar

  • UNITED BREAKS GUITARS!!!

  • I used to love United and I was a loyal customer. Not any more. I fly BA instead when I go to Europe.

  • Yes, this is early 1990s. The new 747-400 and the pre-1994 livery give it away as being 1991 or 1992. The voice over is James Earl Jones - he has one of the most recognizable voices ever.

  • Are there really advantages to flying Heathrow over Gatwick and vice versa?

  • well, i guess gatwick is very bussy since it only has one runway so airlines prefer Heathrow

  • Heahtrow is much closer to central London then Gatwick is.

  • gatwick is in crawley

    heathrow is in longsford

  • Make that 1990 or 1991 when the 400 came on-line at United.

  • This commercial is from 1992. I think the United 747-400 came on line in the middle-1980s and the 777 arriving 10-years later.

  • United used to be the best airline around in he 80s and 90s but now they are a shell of themselves, going from best to worst in a little more than 5 years, all thanks to 9/11 and Glenn Tilton. I just hope United can return to it's glory days and become a world class airline again.

  • That livery united used is kinda ugly i liked all of their liveries except this one i never liked it other wise than that i love united i like flying on it ever since i was a kid

  • United is the best airline I've flown on so far. Now-defunct Piedmont is the worst.

  • Try

Singapore Airlines, Cathy Pacific,Emirates Qatar, Asana,ANA THEy ARE MUCH BETTER

  • Wasn't this commercial done around the time UAL added the 747-400 series to their fleet? I miss this ad.

  • No fella. That was Gene Hackman doing the voice-over.

  • Was that Patrick Stewart? It kinda sounds like him.

  • Nice.

  • This came out following United buying all of Pan Am Heathrow routes when Pan Am went bust.

  • Ironically enough about 5 Years earlier, they also got PanAm's Pacific routes.

  • It wasn't irony, it was desperation from Pan Am to get money.
