@GTnumber1 True, but both Bruce Lee (he said that imitation turns one into a mechanical being, no longer living) and Brandon Lee referred to the person doing the imitation, not to the person receiving the flattering. It may be rewarding to the flattered person, but is disastrous to the person doing the imitation.
@thawanteds bruce lee had an over dose on exercising and on the seen of a movie I forget which one, there was a seen which involved a gun, the cast had not known. So on the seen of the cut, Brandon was shot and killed.
he's a very well intellectual spoken man, he's right have he not been the son of Bruce Lee would he had been given such a role? of course not Brandon chose not to follow a leader he simply felt "to be original is to be yourself":) like "the crow" completely different from his father's character, it just makes sense to follow your path.
@PinchinTheBear Just keep in mind that anyone that passes ungrounded judgements on other people only reflects self-inferiority, weakness in both mind and body and lack of humility.
@GTnumber1 imitation is the sincerest way to say "Im unoriginal"...there is a difference between adopting a thought, belief, or action of someone else's and imitation..."imitation makes you flavorless" -PinchinTheBear-
@PinchinTheBear If you read what the uploader of this video said, you would see he said," Everyone has their own opinion"...I will add by saying that in the case of "imitating or being original" no person's opinion on this matter should be better than the other..It's all up to that person to pick which side they want to go..For me, I think that imitating a great person shows how much you appreciate and idolize that person on a very humble level..It doesn't mean I am "flavorless".
@GTnumber1 "I always learn something, and that is: to always be yourself. And to express yourself, to have faith in yourself. Do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate him" - Bruce Lee
@GTnumber1 Maybe he wasn't trying to flatter his father. Maybe his father had taught him to be his own man. You know, like someone not endearing to live their lives by quotes or what they see on the side of a cereal box.
@GTnumber1 just because someone famous said it doesnt make it the truth, in some cases that is right but in other terms it is not flattery. This isn't an insult but think for yourself, dont just beleive what famous people have said
Yes Brandon should be himself and everybody can have many qoutes from hes father like be your self and be like wather but he was the only one that could pull this off in a natural way just like chris farleys brother kevin farley would do if he should play chris.when you got the son of lee why find someone else? That dosent make sens.If Brandon did this it should be the closest tribute to bruce.Brandom is still himself and bruce was himself.rip mr lee.
@GTnumber1 In this interview Brandon Lee shows exactly why he is his father's son, to make a long story short, "Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successfull personality and duplicate it." - Bruce Lee
The Ironic part of it all, is something all of you probably know, but had Brandon did the Dragon, he'd be alive, and Johnny Depp may have been dead in his stead. Scary stuff.
reading different books, hating different woman, throwing said books at them.stupid bitches=Pthere is a d in it.it's just a little quick.I could never see him as a woman hater.he reminds me of a guy who could train all day wtih the toughest of men.kick some ass.and an hour later sit in on a womans book club meeting and talk about feelings=)all the while making it look cool.judging by the way he talks I imagine he was more of a therapist/shoulder to cry on for these girlfriends.very likeable guy.
Am I the only person that's hearing him say "reading different books, hating different women..."? I'm sure he says dating... right? haha but i've played it back like ten times and i'm not seeing or hearing that d.
Your work on this earth for the short time you both were here will continue to live on for centuries to come. I'm just honored to say I lived in the same era and time as Brandon. God Bless you both and all of your family.
Not too many celebs in our time today one can honestly look up to.
Brandon like any human wasn't perfect because no one is but he sure came close to it! His father also seemed to be a man of honor and much respect not only for his self and his family but for everything he believed in which were great hard working values and staying fit. When both of these men died they took with them everything I just stated and more. Hard to find now days. How very missed they both are and will always be!
Had he lived beyond The Crow, I feel he would've been a MAJOR celebrity and star to this day! I feel he and Eliza would STILL be together with their children and he would've set a wonderful great example to all young people through out the world that you can reach for the stars and be one yourself but still have good morals and be a good person and live a simple life "a family man" as well.
Brandon in my book was truly a person one could look up to.
You can feel the love he had for his father but naturally he never wanted to spend HIS life in his father's shadow. He never wanted to imitate anything his father had done with his life and career. Who would??? He was his own person and wanted for people to love and respect him for HIM, not because he was the son of Bruce Lee. I'm sure Brandon had to work very hard (mentally) through all of this through out his short young life until his most famous work "THE CROW"!
I agree with everything Brandon said and felt about his father, Bruce. He was basically saying that because they both came from different eras and times there's no way they could be like each other nor did he want to be. Both had different tastes and grew up in geographically different regions and cultures. With that said, regardless, of course he loved his father and respected him very much. You can sense and feel just through his words how very much he respected and looked up to his father.

That's a nice thing to say Brandon Lee. I can see that you had deep respect for your dad but you wanted to be yourself. That's one of the best Bruce's teaching. Bruce Lee encourage people to be real with themselves. If Bruce could live long enough to hear what Brandon said, I believe that Bruce Lee would be very proud of his son. RIP Bruce and RIP Brandon.
