@rymaghicksy yeah. They had 5 speed manuals from 2001-07 and six speed manuals from 2001-2006. If you ever find one, buy it, baby it and hold on to it. I can only see the value of the trucks with manuals going up because they were rare when they were made and they're getting even rarer. I saw a 2005 in my area in decent condition with a good chunk of miles on it go for $12k
@sportscarfan1989 Tell me about it, I've been looking for one but can't seem to find one close. I'm in NC and I don't wanna drive to MN for a truck, there's gotta be one closer for sale.
Awesome man. Im hopefully trading my cummins on a 04 LB7 with a ZF6 here pretty soon, and I know everything I want to do to it except for what clutch.
Any idea what a tripple disc SBC would drive like on the street? And how in the heck do you manage to go to 2wd after 4th?! That's lots of stuff to do! Awesome vid man
I Really really like !!! What would be your take on the ZF-6 on a half ton platform, think it will fit? my project is my single cab gmc 2001 that threw a rod in the 5.3 so im conversion to a LLY and was going to do a built out 4l80e but this gives me a new idea. I know the 4l80e works cause thats what is in my gmc now. I put that in their a year ago.
The ZF-6 is a huge tranny! However it is lighter than the allison and you dont have to throw alot of money at it to put big power to the ground. I think it would fit in a 1/2 ton with some fab work and maybe a small body lift? Good luck with your project...I have always wanted to see a duramax in a 1/2 ton.
@Sleepersr that's the good thing about a duramax is its not retardedly heavy like a cummins or powerstroke so they work in a half ton.its only about a 150lbs heavier than a old all iron BBC
Tuning is the biggest part of fast diesels. The motors have alot of potential they are just de-tuned so much from the factory its easy to make big power once the transmissions are upgraded ie. the clutch and flywheel in my case.
REALLY? So you could get those basic tranny upgrades, and just play around with the computer a little bit and boom, you have a 11/12 second truck? No intake, exhaust, engine or suspension mods?
What does your right hand do after you shift into third? A switch maybe?

And where the heck did you find an LLY 6 speed truck? It's impossible to find an LB7 6spd truck much less LLY. Did you order it?

Do you get faster times when you put it back into 2wd? My stock clutch slips when i get to 6th gear. best time i got was a 15.2 lol
miketx89x 2 years ago
Faster times are questionable but 2wd will yield a higher mph.
