@viridismonasteriense well thats why they contribute so much to haliberton, they're the only ones that can make sure to fix the roof and protect it for "terrorist threats"
Not to mention that the Bible is the biggest SELLING book of all time. One would think the word for salvation would be free. My favourites are the hard covers with gold plated page edges that go for more than $100 a pop.
Im sure many smug holier than thou sorts have purchased one and then stepped over the man in the gutter outside the store in which they bough it.
@Seektruth1st How immature can you be? The Bible comes in so many FREE forms that I don't know where to begin. A Christian church, which never ever REQUIRES you to give money, will have hundreds of copies available to read. You can find it for free all over the internet, or in the form of phone apps. A book made from paper costs money to produce, that's why they charge for it. Don't twist it up, most church money goes to missionary work or foreign aid.
@rob0rat It is not immature at all. I know you are absorbed in your Ipod way of life, but before this time, it was indeed sold and if you research what the highest selling book of all time is you will get the same response.Furthermore, there a are many books that are freely available. To say most church money goes to missionary work is hogwash. Preachers in fancy clothes and cars, private jets are no exception. Jesus said give all you have...tell that to your televangelist charlatans.
@Seektruth1st You're looking at the Papacy as a role model for Christianity. I know two pastors personally. Both live in a one story house and live very modestly. I know what cars they drive because I'm a mechanic and I've worked on both their cars. Of course there are preachers who are a little extravagant, but not many, and not at the churches I attend. My churches give food to the hungry, education for the poor, and lots of missionary work. Churches aren't a scam.
@rob0rat Not just the papacy, I do not actually know what car the pope drives. But I have seen all of these tv preachers and it is obvious they are over the top in their spending. They claim they work for God so they are being blessed, nonsense. These people should be keeping just enough to survive and giving ALL of the rest to those in need. No excuses! I never said all churches were scams but, unfortunately there are definitely alot. Driving a mercedes when kids are starved is just wrong.
@Seektruth1st I can guarantee that most of them aren't as wealthy as the papacy. I saw a cardinals house from a neighboring $4 million home. Very extravagant. I'm very sure there are preachers who spend more than they should on themselves. Honestly, I really wish people would stop giving money to those guys. My family has always supported small churches, which is what people should do when they start seeing preachers driving Mercedes around.
@rob0rat Of course the papacy is wealthy beyond most. I do not deny that at all. though you cannot deny that there are televangelists mostly who have far more than they should. it is not enough to donate a little to a good cause and then reside in a mansion with multiple cars and lavish lifestyles. In the end, I think the best way to sow money into Gods kingdom is to make the independent choice yourself and give to someone in need...even if it is a stranger on the street.Seems more Christ like.
@Seektruth1st Hmm..Televangelists aren't working for Yahweh. No no they're working for profit/ & false deities, Idol worship. Look up the actual GOD-origin. Huge deception btw God & the Truth-Yahuwshua/YaHWeh. All of the mega televangelists are amongst the Satanists (Global Elite) Just study hand symbology & you will witness. The true followers are called Followers of The Way & you may never find them in these churches for the churches have been infiltrated by the elite. Sad sad story!!!
@CreateRealWorldPeace Interesting, I notice you say true followers are that of "the way" which were Jesus immediate disciples and what they preached and this was considerably different to Paul also. John James and Peters writings are still jewish in substance as were their post resurrection behaviour. If it were not, these disciples would not have gone back to the temple to praise God afterwards, which they did. Makes more sense as Jesus never said the law was ended either.
@CreateRealWorldPeace As for the televangelists, i think it is very obvious they are not working under Jesus teachings. If the law is really dead as Paul insists, then the tithe died with it. Funny how most mainstream Christians say the law is null and void but when it comes to tithing, somehow this remains as alive and well. Jesus said give to the poor (aka Gods Kingdom) he didn't say give it to preachers, people want blessings themselves, they hardly want to bless the poor with giving...
@Seektruth1st I agree. Many people struggle with the (self-first) disease & I believe it is a dis-ease. Many people also struggle with believing & not receiving and are not aware of this. "I speak for myself here."
I am glad to see you are aware of this big deception through out America (televangelist's) as for most people are not & have settled for blessing of a pastor in a box & have forgotten His Decree, and are relying not on Messiah.
Prayer/Worship=get down & face the pavement-Humiltiy.
@CreateRealWorldPeace I too am glad that I can come across someone who does not attack me and accuse me of not knowing God when I say it is wrong to pursue material wealth in the name of God. Today, Christians have been taught to view God as none other than a spiritual vending machine to get what they need in the here and now. Seldom do I see or hear of Christians giving time to anyone in need apart form themselves....but then again, the ones who do these works of God do not sound a trumpet.
@Seektruth1st Yea...the bible nuts also panic when the slightest talk of asking questions about $ come upon 'em (specially thiers). Btw, all political-correctness goes out the door. They talk the talk great, but walk the walk piss-poor.
@davemelnick At the end of the day, it is evidence in itself that people are really seeking some form of reward. They only pay the money because they are told it is a financial seed and that whatever is paid will come back 50 or 100 fold etc. Everyone is out to get paid when they pay, they see it as an investment to gain return, nothing to do with helping the poor and needy...which is what Jesus taught. non Christians seem to know more about Jesus than those who say they believe in him.
@davemelnick Yes and the time they were selling pieces of wood from Jesus cross, though when they added up the amount sold, apparently it could build the equivalent of 1000 crosses. but I like Benny HInn hitting people with his jacket. I think they only fall down because of all the money in the pockets. ;)
@Seektruth1st Yea...non-Christians definitely know more about the bible. To be "fair & balanced", the non-christians might get the book # wrong. ;) -LOL.
@rob0rat Yeap your totally right!!! One question.... Have you ever been in the moment when they use that money? and we are not talking about the money that you use to buy the bible but the money that you give to church every Sunday.
@GothicBerryBella Not sure which statement I made was "right," but no I usually don't see the actual money transactions being made by the church. I do see where the money has been spent though, as there are many aid and missionary programs in which the church helps to fund. The money is not an investment, but rather a donation. Therefore, whatever goes to the church is theirs, and we trust the church of our choice to spend the money wisely.
Sad. Please just give directly to the poor. Not to churches or other organizations that claim to help the poor. Seek out a family that is having trouble and give directly.
are you crazy? I know some who worked for the red cross and they will tell you the horror stories. Everything is a business and you dont know who to trust. You better off shipping the goods off by yourself.
Yes perhaps, but charities are run by people and people are fallible. Still I believe that charities are there to help people, yes its often run like a business but unfortunately thats more a by product of capitalism not necessarily a full inditement of the charity. I also did say well researched ... and i'll freely admit I haven't researched all red cross initiatives, but ones I have donated to were seemingly good causes and more importantly wasn't just a "spread our religion" type of charity
that 16% for male prostitution and meth was only Ted Haggard's budget. His wife is still in denial....or is she into watching her husband with another guy?
I think someone worked it out that if the Billions Americans put into Religious orgainisations in the US was put into Health Care we would very healthy indeed.
i remember a joke i heard about a little boy asking a rabbi what he does with the money he gets donated. he replied: "i go outside and fling the money up into the sky and whatever god wants, he keeps, and whatever he decides i may have he allows to float back to earth"
It's not an actual statistic; it was just made for fun. I believe in Lord Jesus, but i also believe that churches these days are multimillion companies and priests are the dirtiest businessmen on the earth. It's a disgrace for the great Christianity.
haha funny funny. yeah who the fuck knows where it all goes. i dont think god even really needs it. good thing people make other people think he does so they can take their money, and spend it on: (what was just listed)
they take in billions of dollars...then OWN england, they have every involvement with christian and jewish governments and they control several organisations that are about history.
Do you join an organization? Tell me what our your resources. Who supported the terrorist? Does Benladin spend all his money for bombing? or everybody from the organization contributes.obviuosly Organization/groups needs support from each member, right? SO why you question the Religious groups?
Actually the purpose of the money is meant to spread God's message and to minister to those in need. It is better spent than all the porn that is bought each year. I would rather give my money for the use of good.
homcat, that money is also used to lobby against things the church doesn't like...
ie. gay marraige, abortion, and stem cell research. If it's the catholic church, it's also being used, amongst other things, to spread a 'condoms are a sin' message in africa, where AIDS is killing people in the thousands every year. In other words, it's used to impose religious ideals on people who don't want it, or on people who don't know better. Oh, yeah, and it goes towards some very nice churches too
It depends upon the church. If someone isn't catholic and are attending a small non denom church the money will not be going to those things. It will go towards maintaining the church building and helping out the local community.
I'm not against that, if it's going to the community then I'm all for it, but the big christian love in that's happening in Sydney this year, is going to be paid for by the church, all 30 million of it. Not what I'd call money well spent
Religion is for the most part a business, the worste one in america is the lakewood church in texas. The church recently leased a nba basketball arena to be there church at a cost of 90 million dollars.
They take in 52 million dollars a year in church attendance offerings, and another 20 million mailed into the church each year. Not to mention he's written aobut 10 books worth countless more millions. Joel olsteen is hte pastor.
I'm sorry but this is ridiciulous abundance imho. Its just wrong.
I just talked to Jesus and he said he actually personally got all the money I gave. However he said since he is a sovereign all powerful being he had no use for my money.
DUDE, the principal at my old high school (an Irish Christian Brother) drove a brand new mustang! Not a camaro like you said in your vid, but when I read that that was the first thing I thought of. Talk about vows of poverty.
Even if YahWeh and Jesus flew down right in front of me from Heaven on a white fluffy cloud, I still wouldn't give them a fucking nickel.
"All-powerful, all-knowing, huh? Why don't you get off your omnipotent, omniscient asses and get a job like the rest of us poor schmucks if you need money so bad? I bet the Bush Administration would fork over a lot of dough for some righteous smiting."
roflmao i was gonna make a sarcastic reply to this guy, but [as i usually do] i checked out his channel first to see what he is about, and his account is suspended ... lol
Sad but true about the 2% for the poor. Hitch tears apart Mother Theresa's little cult of suffering for this, as it is clearly show they gave less that 3% of the $ they got, to the actual poor. Pretty sad when you ask the world for 10% then can't even spend 10% of that on the needy.
If you think that's bad, look at the Mormon church--in England, they got 600,000 pounds donated to a Tsunami relief fund, and not one penny was spent of Tsunami relief.
ill go show this chart to my pastor when he heads back to africa and help the needy.

Good, maybe they'll go bankrupt and the buildings could be used for something less important than god like, oh I don't know, housing the homeless? :)
