He speaks of heaven - but why do we need to be compelled to do good so we go to heaven - why can't we do good things just because it's the right thing to do?

I just watched this for the first time. God touched my heart and I wept like a baby. He showed me that I put Jesus on the cross, my sins put him there. For more, read Hebrews, Ephesians or one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). So Jesus is part of the Godhead, but he is God's only begotten son. The Bible teaches he loves us so much, he came to pay the price for our sin -- we don't have to pay the (eternal) punishment, but can have eternal life.

I believe exactly what the Bible says.. call on the name of Jesus and you will be saved. That's what Paul told the jailor...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Oh please... Paul Washer says there is no place in the Bible where it says all a person has to do to be saved is by calling on the name of Jesus. Seems to me that in Romans 10:13 it says just that. I'm a Calvinist and a member of a presbyterian church. In my country the presbyterian Calvinists consider the Athanasian Creed as a valuable 'statement' from the early church. In my native language(dutch) the word they used for 'begotten' in the Athanasian Creed(article 22) is 'generated'.

He makes no mention of the consequences of denying the Savior that leads to eternal damnation. I just watched this for the first time. God touched my heart and I wept like a baby. He showed me that I put Jesus on the cross, my sins put him there. Jesus is the son of his father, God. He is a part of God. The Bible says he is God as well. Most Christians believe the scriptures that teach us God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. For more, read Hebrews, Ephesians or one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). So Jesus is part of the Godhead, but he is God's only begotten son. The Bible teaches he loves us so much, he came to pay the price for our sin -- we don't have to pay the (eternal) punishment, but can have eternal life.

That's not up to any of us to judge another's salvation. The Bible clearly says all we have to do to be saved is to call on the name of Jesus. Then God begins a work in us, to change us from within. Oh please... Paul Washer says there is no place in the Bible where it says all a person has to do to be saved is by calling on the name of Jesus. Seems to me that in Romans 10:13 it says just that. When I was 11 yrs old all I did was call on Jesus to save me and I was saved instantly. THEN the Holy Spirit comes inside us and begins to change us, from then on.

The same word for "only-begotten" is found at Hebrews 11:17 -it refers to Isaac.
But for 13 years Ishmael was already the ONLY son of Abraham. The Bible shows that both also outlived their father (Genesis 25:9). Therefore, at NO time was Isaac, the 'only-begotten' son of Abraham.
Recognizing this Christian scholars qualified the meaning of the word to give it a LESS THAN LITERAL interpretation. But if the meaning is subject to interpretation here, why not also in the passage of John 3:16?

The KJV and AMP (new American was based on the KJV Bible) they are all living in the past and havent caught up with the latest scholarship, still stubbornly clinging on to their misnomers over terms and passages which have already been identified as suspect.
In the niv the words 'only begotten' are found in the FOOTNOTES, and FOOTNOTE is not the SUPPOSED words of God. otherwise they'd be in the text. Footnotes are the editors comments and editors comments do not qualify as the 'word of God'.

Ive already looked it up and only begotten is not in the TEXT. it is in FOOTNOTE.
In the text there is a small 'a' next to only son and you have to look at footnote to read what it says.

John 3:16 the meaning of the word monogenes is subject to interpretation as already proved from Heb 11:17.
Begetting is an animal act, an outcome of procreation resulting physical association between a male and female. The language is earthly and distasteful.
In Matthew 1, a form of that word is used to list the so-called genealogy of Jesus. It means 'had sex and produced'. See how the use of the word makes a mockery to God's glory. Its rank blasphemy against God.

BEGETTING means had SEX AND PRODUCED. Begetting is the function of created beings. God is the Most High, pure from such association.

GOD CREATES.
GOD creates what he pleases. God had already created a man without a father or mother (Adam) and now without father (Jesus).
The similitude of Jesus before God is that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was. (3:59)
God willed both into existence, both men are God's creation, they are his SERVANTS, they BELONG to Him.

GOD doesnt use distasteful, earthly gutter language to explain HOW he creates he uses SUBLIME language. The word begotten has with it earthly connotations and is far removed ANY association with God. In fact, the Qur'an explains HOW He did it in a much better way. much more sublime and befitting His Dignity and Majesty.

[++BEGETTING] "but in this context it means generated...." I do think you are more correct. I just got a Strong's Concordance and the word in John 3:16 is used only 6 times in the bible. Besides God's Son, it is only used once in Hebrews 11:17 when Abraham offered up his "only begotten" The definition in Strongs word 3439 is "from the same as" which I would think would be close to what we would think of generated. Did you have another authority?

I'm a Calvinist and a member of a presbyterian church. In my country the presbyterian Calvinists consider the Athanasian Creed as a valuable 'statement' from the early church. In my native language(dutch) the word they used for 'begotten' in the Athanasian Creed(article 22) is 'generated'.
