Someone talked about signature style? this is the point. Tarja is lyrical singer and created this style "metal opera classic" and it was not quite what Nightwish wanted, but still had very good mix.

After leaving nightwish Tarja was more fine coolest, most in his kingdom ... and more goddess.

Because someone (including me) likes one thing better than another does not make it "better"; except to the listener. One of my friends that graduated with a Master's in music said "There is no such thing as bad music; it just depends on who the listener is".

The difference in their training and style of singing is the reason why people claim that they don't have the same range, because they do.. The guys wouldn't have chosen Anette if they didn't think she could do the high notes, she doesn't produce them the same way as Tarja, but she does get there, she just needs practice..

I still love Nightwish. I still love Tarja. The best thing about Tarja's departure though is definitely that the majority of the songs on her solo album are written for her range. Her last album with Nightwish wasn't. She sounded really bad on some songs, like Wish I Had An Angel (why Tuomas seems to be against changing the key of his songs is beyond me... it's the reason why Anette struggles with many of the older Nw songs...)

@oamadeife I too am looking forward to the new Nightwish. Dark Passion Play was excellent in studio. Personally I do not like Olzon's voice in live performances. Her voice is simply not to my liking when they perform live. It is my opinion that the music created by Tuomas Halopainen and the other band members is too powerful for her vocal abilities.. But I am glad that the loss of Tarja did not totally ruin Nightwish. I think they are a wonderful band and could have chosen a better lead singer

Anette in my opinion is an excellent studio vocalist as her voice responds well to filtering and mixing etc but during live preformances her voice is very undependable and sometimes I do wander if she really fits into Nightwish. I think her limits should finish at rock music rather than metal because in live pereformances she needs to go on a higher note than what her natrual vocal range is to be heard over the music.
