Download mode on Samsung Vibrant

ok pls help me man, i got this shit down, and when its on regularly its detected, in download mode i get "USB NOT RECOGNIZED" and i already installed the drivers, help me please.

if u stuck in phone ! computer error, take out your battery, push volume up and down button, reinsert your battery while holding down the button, click the emergency recovery in kies mini, and your phone will be updated with froyo 2.2 once its completed. :D

I tried many different combo's until this (as posted just a little way down) finally worked for me. I used ODIN, it worked perfectly, was only in Samsung Galaxy S shiny logo screen for a few minutes before it started, all my data in tact and 2.2 Firmware.

Steps for DL mode (do them in EXACT ORDER)

-Remove SD card (unmount while phone is on to not lose data)

-Power off, remove SIM card and battery

-Pop in battery

-Hold both volume buttons

-Plug in USB

... and there it is, straight to DL mode

i seriously never write anything on forums or anywhere on internet cause im too lazy

BUT u saved my phone after THREE HOURS OF SEARCHING IT WAS THIS EASY i feel stupid and relieved

@ben0katz Thanks. This worked. Holding power and Down didn't work for me. I have CM7, so I think it may have caused that button combo not to work. Pull out battery, put battery back in, hold both vol buttons, then plug in USB to power or computer and it will power on by itself to the familar Yellow Downloading screen.

The people who still have problems after watching make me feel bad because I am kind of an idiot, I only figured this out after effing up my own phone and trying a hundred ways of doing it before I finally found something that was working consistently. Good luck with the phone. I am so pissed at how samsung programmed it, can't wait for CM6.1 to finally be finished.

I wish I could help the people who this didn't work for, but there are a lot of possibilities. It might depend on what firmware you flashed, maybe your buttons are physically broken, this probably only works for the Vibrant and not the other Galaxy S phones. I am not the most savvy with new phones, this was just me putting together 2 & 2 for my situation really. I want to help, but this is about all I have and was made to prove that under normal circumstances this is how you get to download mode

just so people know everyphone is a little diff but the captivate u have to use both volume rockers way i did it to my captivate was i took sim card and sd card out took out battery put back in then held down both volume buttons then put the usb cord in and bam i was there great vid though

@Nwor1776 Thank you! Remove everything, then install battery. Hold both volume buttons. Insert USB. You'll see a yellow triangle with "downloading" above it.

@nfxnru Well I have no idea what you did, and even if I did I probably would have no idea, but doubt you could damage it based keys pressed... if that makes any sense.

Also I'm sure it DOES matter that you do it either while it's saying goodbye or while it's showing your battery charger icon

Err if it doesn't work for you try BOTH volume up and down at the same time.
