GUYS I NEED ADVICE; What is the lightest bass strings?? Cuz i have become pretty good at slapping and all i have is my beginner Fender Squier P-Bass and god knows what awful strings they have!!
D'addario Prosteels have very low tension. you might like 'em. if not then try D'addario Nickel wounds in a light gauge. i also suggest to look around the internet for other options
Duuuuuude.... niiiiice..... I've been looking into getting some low gauge strings for my bass(40-95, hopefully.... not entirely sure what to get yet) for some progressive hard-rock, and I'm having a tiny bit of trouble finding the right sound for my band's particular style. Any tips?
hey light gauge strings are a good choice if you feel comfortable with them. if you intend on tuning in Drop D or lower it might sound a bit too floppy. what bass do you have and do you have any clips of your band?
@ghostjs Sadly, my band isn't on the internet just yet. We're working on it.
I actually plan on staying with the standard tuning. I personally don't like tuning down. So I don't feel like I really need to worry about my strings getting all floppy. I have a GSR200 Ibanez bass. This is all the information I have at the moment, sorry.
ok well if you're having trouble playing the standard string gauge, light strings are the way to go then.
the Ibanez bass is a good starter bass and can probably get some decent tones. you just have to fiddle around abit until you can find your own good tone. once you get some media up i'd like to hear
@ghostjs I got the XL Nickel Round Wound long scale EXL 180 strings. Not sure what that means, but they're 35-95, which is what I wanted. I put them on just a while ago, and they sound AMAZING. I've been playing bass off and on for about three years, but this is the first time I actually did anything with the strings. Anyways, thanks again for all your help. =)
Would you recomend Daddario regular light nickel strings or Ernie Ball Super Slinky. I play funk, Slap and Fingerstyle
