Randy has the most amazing voice. As a song writer, it's a life experience. Yea Tim replaced Randy in Poco and the Eagles, but he was just a replacement for someone who could not really be replaced. He never wrote or sang a song like this or Take it to the Limit. A limited bass player at best.
as true as it gets strong piano and string arrangement and the vocals are exceptional listening to any of randy meisners songs is like opening a book on life experience, jesus he could not only write them but sing them with a deft of clarity and feeling
@JayDog1028 I did not know Henley came out for Take it to the limit. Well as a aside to that. Backstage when Randy's wife asked Don if he would take a picture with Randy he grumbled something turned on his heels and left. Timothy and Bernie gladly posed for pictures with Randy for his wife.
I played the heck out of this song when I was at a college radio station in 1980. I don't know which song I like better, this one or Hearts on Fire.
Does anybody know who did the string arrangement on this song? They are synth strings but more realistic than the typical Solina (ARP) String Ensemble of the day.
I love this song and also because Randy was once part of my favorite band and the best band in the world The Eagles. It's a shame that he's not one of them anymore.
I knew that . I was saying there were no more times to come after this recording. Because they have not sang together since and as far as i know haven't even spoken since.
Actually they have....they were at the Rock N Roll Hall of fame induction...and all 7 members played Take it Easy and Hotel California.....Randy's acrimony with the band was due to his exhaustion, he was tired of the road at the time...and Glenn and Don were pretty PO'd at him for leaving the group.
Yeah and they were not too happy to have him there either. Since they turned his guitar mic off and muted his vocals. And after the show they left without even saying goodbye. He had the right to leave if he felt like it and he did. Left and never looked back He is quite happy in retirement right now.
And another thing he was not well liked by Irving Azoff either. as a solo artist when he asked Azoff why he was not getting booked for gigs Azoff backed him up against the wall and screamed get out and never come back. When HFO came around Randy had asked through the Eagles grapevine if he could get involved he was told no. Once your gone your gone for good.
@nyrichiek Actually a few years ago at the Santa Monica civic center in a benefit for Fred Walecki, Randy was playing with his band and Don Henley and Bernie Leadon joined him onstage to sing Take IT to The Limit....
1980, always!

I´ve seen the EAGLES last year here in Mannheim/Germany. They gave a gorgeous performance. Randy Meisner would fit again in this group.

@Grizzlylake I don't think anyone can "fit" in that band. Can't wait to see Don Felder solo!
