  • this is great footage. it almost seem like its ordinary friends having a smoke. but these men are hardened wariors they have my respect

  • the guy with the k 98 and the guy with the mg 42 ammo belt look like brothers

  • This man was in Kampfgruppe Hansen of the 2nd Company, I./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 1 LAH. His name is Walter Armbrusch. He was a MG-42 gunner with the SS-Schütze rank.

  • When you see the eyes of the grenadier, the one with the K98 on his back; you can see that he’s doped with the famous pervitin®…Heavily tired but he’s well.

  • @floriangeyer72 Really???? That is a intresting topic you just brought up. What exazctly is pervitin and was it common in the german wermacht?

  • @popper504 : Pervitin : methamphetamine used during World War II by Axis and Allied forces. The German military dispensed it under the trademark name Pervitin. It was widely distributed across rank and division, from elite forces to tank crews and aircraft personnel, with many millions of tablets being distributed throughout the war. ;o)

  • @floriangeyer72 why was that drug used to calm people?

  • oh my, it's him! from the famous battle of the bulge photo, the mg42 gunner. i hope he made it.

  • @12thpanzergrenadiers what mg 42 gunner/ what photo are u referring to. My favorite is when the grenadier is laying in the ground doing the hand signal to advance for infantry behind him . then he gets up and runs.

  • @12thpanzergrenadiers o yes and he was holding a assualt rifle during the ardennes offensive

  • Smoking is bad for the health.

  • Great material for Lucky Strike TV commercial.

  • Walter Armbrusch is his Name!

  • @Duisburger9911 : Not confirmed and always in dispute by former soldiers of the LAH or by the historians.

  • @Duisburger9911

    No,that`s not the Name.

    Nobody knows his real Name.

  • awesome film

  • Music?

  • Great moment captured in time, great music

  • Luky strike ;)

  • Yeah it was captured American cigarettes. IF you noticed at the end of the movie when you see "Rudi" you'll notice a disabled American Sherman.

  • @TadJames Thats a M8 Greyhound, you can notice by the wheels and the armoured skirts... Not even a tank...

  • yeah I immediately recognized him, too...

  • The sodier with the ammo belt are from a famous war picture.

    They called him "Rudi".

Got like 4-6 photos of him :D

  • he was from Wilhelm Mohnke's division

  • i saw this soldier in the shell belt on a famous pic

  • me two! Damn I swear its him from the picture.

  • i wonder what the german americans felt about fighting against there ancestors!

  • I'm sure they fought for the cause and didn't think about it too much....

  • @goldyn12345 Hated it I have been told.

  • They would not share cigarettes any more nowadays! Cigarettes cost too much! ;-)

  • Hmmm what brand of ciggartettes

  • music name please!

  • I don't know the name of the music !

  • Those are "Lucky Strike" cigarrettes taken from the Americans which they just beat.

You can see an American half track on the background.

  • Great music (by whom is it?) and it was a nice unexpected surprise to see the trooper of the famous historical pic in this footage.

  • great!i want to know the music too

  • @DexterHollandrulez06

yeah great pic. and now this is first time i see him moving

  • well thank you because Im really into the 1st SS and the Battle of the Bulge

  • I get it by many searches on the web, a picture of the SS soldier with mg42 ammos around is neck is worldwide known. I'm a belgian and i know exactly the place where this movie footage was shoot (50°18'46.58"N - 6° 0'59.76"E).

  • did this soldier survived?

  • All i know is the famous mg-42 gunner is now a us citizen, he leaves in the USA but don't want to be recognize. I don't know his name.

  • @floriangeyer72 Neither Severlo nor Gockl from WN 62 at Omaha Beach were in the Waffen-SS. Which other MG-42 gunner do you consider famous?

  • @BusterXXXL : Yes but they weren't on pictures or footages...

  • @floriangeyer72 Your remarks are three years old but I will respond. They know his name. He does not wish for it to be released and he does not want any attention. People keep mistakin him for Walter Ambrusch. It's not Walter.

  • @Eagle9294 : So you confirm that he's not "Walter Ambrusch"?

  • @floriangeyer72 The Battle of the Bulge Museum has confirmed it is not Walter. The man in the video does not want identified or recognition to the public. He has lived in the USA for over 50 years now and has moved on from this chapter of his life. He is now a elderly man enjoying his senior years.
