This man was in Kampfgruppe Hansen of the 2nd Company, I./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 1 LAH. His name is Walter Armbrusch. He was a MG-42 gunner with the SS-Schütze rank.

@popper504 : Pervitin : methamphetamine used during World War II by Axis and Allied forces.The German military dispensed it under the trademark name Pervitin. It was widely distributed across rank and division, from elite forces to tank crews and aircraft personnel, with many millions of tablets being distributed throughout the war. ;o)

Yeah it was captured American cigarettes. IF you noticed at the end of the movie when you see "Rudi" you'll notice a disabled American Sherman.

I get it by many searches on the web, a picture of the SS soldier with mg42 ammos around is neck is worldwide known. I'm a belgian and i know exactly the place where this movie footage was shoot (50°18'46.58"N - 6° 0'59.76"E).

@floriangeyer72 The Battle of the Bulge Museum has confirmed it is not Walter. The man in the video does not want identified or recognition to the public. He has lived in the USA for over 50 years now and has moved on from this chapter of his life. He is now a elderly man enjoying his senior years.
