I do not even know even one piece of chopin that´s not creative or good. I mean his first sonata, wow ! Compare it to early work of Mendelssohn-Bartholdy or Mozart and then judge again ;) Even that 1st sonata is pretty creative. I like it.
"It is one of chopin's least appreciated works, and certainly the least "famous" of his piano soantas, with some critics addressing the work as Chopin's least creative work."
- I must say that sounds a bit too harsh about Chopin. Is it really that bad? I would ask those critics to please do me a big favor: do not say such hate things about chopin, for chopin is the best composer to ever have lived on this earth!
This movement is one of the most emotionally moving, interesting beautiful pieces of work I have ever head. With the brief switches to major, the opposing rhythms, the power, the sweetness. This just brought me through a range of motions I can't even describe
these Chopin sonatas are performed by Dutch pianist FRED OLDENBURG. I think the CD info with Van Deek is in fact the conductor of the concertos on them. Hope this helps guys. Thanks for posting - really enjoyed Oldenburg's interpretation. Have you heard Harasiewicz playing this sonata? - I will post it if I can work out how.
Please do! I had heard a recording by a young Russian pianist of this Sonata on a BBC disc some months ago. It was a powerhouse performance that made a strong case for the inclusion of this piece in the concert repertoire. Thanks again! (:-D)
Ah, indeed. I've checked the full album info. This came as part of a 13 CD box set, titled "Chopin: The Piano works". Type Arie Van Beek into amazon and you'll find it.
Oh I say! Anyone for a pickled cuccumber what?

I understand it's not his greatest work, but for 18 this is a pretty dang good sonata.

I've loved this neglected sonata ever since I heard it played by Nikita Magaloff years ago. Who is the pianist here?

I'm afraid I am not currently aware of who the pianist is, though I shall attempt to discover.

Isn't he a conductor? is it that he is also a pianist?
