I had only seen Connie Smith do this song. Until today, I really like it. It is unreal the way Mr. Kershaw can play that fiddle! Man he's good, real good!
45 years ago I was a young buck driving limo's for rock groups. Picked up Doug at Kennedy airport and drive him to his gig in Manhatten. had a great time and Doug introduced me to some new experiences. Thanks for the memories
Saw him years ago @ Gilleys in Psadena and it was a hell of a show. I recall he was drunk as cooter brown and had one leg up around the back of his head hopping around on the other leg. Heck of a performer. And that drummer is damn good, wonder who he is?
I had never heard of him before but my husband was taking about him to me today. He's is cousin from his mother's side of the family. They are from Lake Charles and there's a whole slew of them. Enjoyed the video.
Born in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, Cajun country, he traces his ancestry to Acadians who were part of the Great Expulsion by British authorities from their homeland in eastern Canada in 1755.
This is a great song and it is how we lived ! The funny thing is my mom was named Rita. I love Doug Kershaw. You cant beat the Cajuns ! We know how to have a great time, may sha !
Ok, not a big country fan...never heard this before but this kicks azz. Music these days needs more real instruments, and real musicians who can PLAY! Now I know why lead guitar is hot, but not for "Luisiana Man". The drummer rocks this song too, good stuff.
I was about to comment on the amazing spirit of that drummer. then I saw some notes down here: he's Doug's son. No wonder he playing like he means it ! It's in the heart and the blood. Doug's intro on the fiddle literally made me teary eyed and put me back in some other time zone. What a talent.
Cajun is a mix of French and English, most french words a bit diluted due to the Canadian goverment forcing them out of Nova Scotia and forcing them to Louisiana , most were educated in English and french was something not to be spoken. Most who speak french now speak "cajun French" as you called it... it's still heard alot in Canada in the province of New Brunswick.
I was born & raised speaking Traditional Canadian French and I have a bit of a hard time understanding them... LOL
My Mom drove him from Dauphin, MB to Winnipeg,MB hehe
