The one thing you can't see in a spec sheet is the superior quality of the MacBook Air compared to others in its class. I just bought a MacBook Air (2011) then I remembered this commercial. The way he used a manilla folder on stage to announce this product made the world go crazy. While I passed up on the 2008 MacBook Air, the 2011 version with an Intel Core i5 is an excellent mobile companion to my i7 GTX580 pc.

I wouldn't buy a Macbook Air, it's unnecessary. I'd rather use an iPad for it and for a computer for true I'd buy a MacbookPro. It's way more reliable and as much beautiful.

What i'm wondering is if best choice, if even possible, would be to use Apple operating system on a high-end non apple computer? you know, buy a supers up pc without an operating system and add the apple OS....

@pipmypap1980 Well, it is a good choice but I assure you is not the best. The best choice is to buy a real Mac computer (like the iMac or a MacbookPro) so you'll have the real "Apple experience". Although Mac OS X can unofficially run on non-apple hardware it may have some bugs and some issues, save that you'll have to get a good amount of knowledge in hardware and software topics to get it running of the fix its issues. Well, but sure it's way cheaper, but for work buy a Mac...

It has better screen effects that any other os, it has better utilization of screen space than any other os, and it's free. @perrythekiller first off, an AMD Athlon 64 is a 64 bit processor. If you downloaded the 32 bit version of ubuntu, you should re-download the 64 bit version. other than that... ATI cards have...problems with Ubuntu. The graphics drivers for ati aren't as good as the ones for Nvidia, That being said, they have gotten much better in recent years. Did you get the newest ATI drivers for linux for your card?
