I did not like the part where he drops the rat in the shredding machine, this sort of thing could encourage cruelty,I do like this film though, really good & scary.
I don't think I am on the same page as some of the people commenting here;...oh freaking well;..anyway that's a hell of an opener though. Those rats were watching that dude like vultures; they knew he would be fresh meat soon! A stand up way to start a horror story.; but the best scene is yet to come. It reminds me that I had a graveyard job in a printing press once; and although I never saw any rats and thankfully know giant Bats; the machine itself creeped me out with those same metal teeth
I knew I remembered this intro when I was little at my grandparents' house several years ago: it was showing on some local channel. Now I've finally get to see it again.
@slagarcrue85 ahh a animal lover, let me help you with grieving pain of animals, animals like rats dont have a per-frontal cortex like humans do its located in the right hemisphere of our brains, it sends messages (motor messages) to the cerebellum that tells it your experiencing pain, therefore animals dont experience pain like we do, they still experience it but not as bad, thats why they are candidates for vaccination testing
@thebigwhitedude erm...if U poke a animal with a sharp object, dont EVEN tell me it just "reacts" (like an insect would) It feels pain. Go spread yer Nazi gospel somewhere else Dr Mengele.
@raveklaw ah but your wrong they dont feel it to a certain degree they dont feel pain like humans or animals with brains that fit it, and ill keep spreading my nazi truth as long as you spread your illiteracy through the world
Before you go spreading your own ignorant gospel you should take into account the fact that pain isn't even a tangible thing. Pain is the brains reaction to a harmful stimuli being introduced to the physical body; it doesn't really exist except in the mind and it is therefore just a reaction to stimuli and not some deeper spiritual thing like you are implying. Also calling people names is ignorance personified so go ahead and call me something as well.
@TheJamblaster Who the hell cares if pain is tangible or not? If you get in a car accident and your legs are smashed to pieces and you're sitting there writhing in pain, you don't care if you're reacting to stimuli. You're in pain, and it hurts, and you wish it would stop. Cut a finger off and then tell yourself "This pain doesn't exist." See if it makes you feel better.
The pain doesn't exist and it can be controlled. Someone with your obviously limited capacity for imagination though wouldn't understand that. I have personally gone through many very 'painful' things without so much as a thought towards the pain and no internal or external reactions to it. But I bet if you stub your toe you would cry like a baby wouldn't you. Pain isn't real and it doesn't exist. Just look at the buddhist monks who burn themselves alive without a tear.
1) THE BUDDHIST MONKS BURN THEMSELVES AS AN ACT OF DEFIANCE, & DIE EXTREMELY QUICKLY, ALMOST 100% PAINLESS. BECAUSE THEY ARE IN SO MUCH PAIN, THAT THE BRAINS PAIN SIGNALS OVERLOAD ON A TREMENDOUS SCALE CAUSING A REACTION THAT NUMBS THE WHOLE BODY, MAKING THEM AN EXCEPTION TO THE PAIN(EXCEPT FOR MAYBE A FEW SECONDS).
2) PAIN DEFINITELY EXISTS! E.G.IMAGINATION, THOUGHTS, DREAMS, ETC.
3)YOU, SIR, MUST FEEL NO PAIN, OR HAVE NO PAINFUL REACTIONS, MUST HAVE NO SOUL OR CONSCIENCE!!!!!!!
BUT THEN NEITHER IS THINKING, LEARNING, DREAMING, ETC. BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT THESE THINGS ARE SO VERY 'REAL'.
THIS IS A COMMENT SECTION FOR THE INCLUDED MEDIA. SO I THINK WE COULD ALL DO OURSELVES A 'LIL BETTER BY STICKING TO THAT DOCTRINE, & POST ABOUT THE FILM, NOT HAVE PERSONAL ARGUMENTS OVER THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PAIN!!!!!!!(=
After seeing videos of the actual mill I have come to the conclusion that the hopper feeder and picker are not part of Bartlett Yarns' inventory... hmmm
IMDB has this as 4.1 well ill be the judge of that. With King it will better than that I'm sure. Sad to say its my first time seeing it. So thnx for the upload
Stumbled on this a few years back. It was being shown on Space. Problem is, I forgot what the movie was called and wondered if I'd ever stumble on it again... I have! Thanks for the upload!
@sporeman528 How do you control pressure on a purely mechanical device? The setup seems to be powered off a 10HP or greater electric motor... which will turn the machines at a constant torque regaurdless of what's being fed into it. I know it is purely fictional that it would rip a person apart, but I just want to know how PSI comes into play
everything from 4:40 to around 5:24 feels like The X-Files.
