aCTUALLY BULL DOG U DO GET 1 BRAKING DEVICE NOW. MOST PUT A DISC ON THE REAR. I PUT MINE ON THE FRONT TILL THEY SPECIFIED U CAN'T PUT IT ON THE FRONT . WHY? CUZ I WAS KILLIN EM.BUT BEFORE 1972 THEY HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL.3 ABREST INTO TURN 3 ON A MILE WAS HAIRY AS FUN GETS.hADDA HAVE BALLS THE SIZE OF CAULDRINS AND OF THE SAME CAST IRON.140MPH AND NOBODY COULD BE SCAREED N JAM ON THE BINDERS IN FRONT OF YA.LOTTA SLUGS WENT THRU THE FENCE.
@the1spen CLOSE? I had my little fingernail taken off at cycleland in chico one night, by a racer puttin a wheeel in on me. Classy intimidation. Many times rubber wore onto your leathers from being pushed by the competition. Some would reach over as they pass on the outside in a corner and shift u down a gear too.Or in a TT grab your front brake. Or put their hand on your # plate as u try to pass with the draft, and hold ya back lol.Ahh lessons of closeness .Yes sir ....ya learn to get gone.
@FahQBB Cool to hear from you, sounds like you had fun! Was wondering if you ever raced against any of the Spence guys? They are my family and raced alot in the expert class in California. Duane, Dennis, or Steve are their names.
It's called "tucking in"! It's for cutting drag on the straights @ 100+ mph! type in "xr 750 flat track" and watch Marl Brelsford in video clip as he tucks in while still sliding sideways! awesome!
For sure, it just depends on the length of the track! In my opinion, FTR is the best, most action-packed, thrilling racing in the world. Love it! Can't wait for the 2010 season!
@cdiaz55 or Gary Nixon did it with that kind of natural grace style and talent, may he R.I.P.....too bad Mark had to make the papers the way he did in practice for the 1972 Daytona 200, first time and last time he carried the Number 1 plate and THE most awesome picture scary wise in racing if u were to ask me. Tough guy tough he didn't die
Do you happen to know Don Estep? He was one of my husbands best friends. We were looking for footage of him. He passed away, and would like to have something to remember him by. Thanks
@grampakampa yer right gramp, mike kidd was #72 then, ricky was #41 and number #1 was a hondawith a crew of riders on it, bubba, ricky, mike, hocking too, poovey....nice try akita but eeeh u lose.
cool, depending on year, ricky graham was #3 (think) I seen him win the grand national championship in Springfield 93? anyway, cool vid. I love flat track racing.
Hey, maybe you can help me - I just found a early - mid 1990's autographed b & w pic of Ricky at the home we bought left by the previous owner. I would like to know the value of the pic since my son has Cystic Fibrosis and i would like to perhaps auction it off for his charity! what a blessing! Any ideas what something like this would be worth? I also have Kevin Atherton, Steve Beattie and JP Schnabel!! Whaddya think?

That was an awsome perspective of the racing and how close they get to eachother.

I've read that they are obtaining speeds of 140mph on the straights and 90 in the turns.

This has to be '82 or '83, Mike Kidd was on Honda then. Number 1 is Ricky Graham.
Ricky, Bubba, and Mike came in and kicked Harley's ass overnight with the RS750.
I miss those bikes :(
