Hendrix wasnt all that great from a technical stand point, but that just MIGHT have been all of the drugs. I still prefer Clapton to Hendrix, but I wont discredit Hendrix, he was the master of distortion, and in some senses he had an immense amount of creativity, but most of all he kept at it with the out of place sound, even if he wasnt popular til after death.
