  • I like this new generation of Nigerian leaders. I see the ideas on energy privatization and the soveriegn wealth fund from Goodluck Jonothan and this ambitious Eko Atlantic project from Fashola and, as an Igbo from the USA, I've never felt more pride in Nigeria than right now. I'm especially encouraged by Fashola's ability to actually get this project off the ground. Nigeria has long been plagued by plans that go nowhere.

  • now he just needs to sort out electricity

  • All Igbo, Ijaw, Ibo(Deltans), Tivs and so on originate from the Yoruba nation but that is even irrelevant because one way or the other we all want the best for the world, Africa in general and for Nigeria in particular. May the Lord almighty give us the best people at last, amen!

  • all this pictures unreal >>>>> Lagos need rebuilding > All the roads very bad > Trafic completely is very very bad > Go slow all time 24/7 >> electricity very bad >> clean drinking water not avilable>>> telephone network all time busy and bad>>>> there is no infrastructure at all >>> and crimes level is to high> > and many things others . the work you can do it in the developed countres withn one day here in lagos you need 15 day

  • I wonder who were the idiots ruling Nigeria before that Nigeria never developed until now...I am really impressed by the NEW Governor. Good job....just keep going and DONT STOP.

  • @RobertsDigital The simple answer, the military rule of some 40 years neglected the country while filling thier pockets. They're finally gone and Nigeria is finally creeping forward. It's about time.

  • ok so heres the thing, in lagos you have being done by 1 governor: over 200 roads being built new taxi services new bus services new rail services new houses being built new factory for electric transformers new waste management new river boats new solar street lights new security new hospitals and schools All creating millions of jobs in just that one state, so what are all the other 36 states governors of nigeria doing with their state budgets?? prosecute them, fashola 4 president
  • Hello All... I am Nigerian and very proud of that fact. yes we have had leaders that have undoubtedly plunged us into the abyss but i am proud non the less. That isnt even the point here... I would really like to urge us all to start thinking as a unit rather than segments, in unity we can find strength. We need to start thinking of ways forward not pointing the finger. we are a diverse nation, lets just get over our differences and seek for solutions of a better home for our future generations

  • Lagos needs to do away with the awful yellow taxis and danfos and upgrade to a LEGIT taxi service.

i've heard about those Danfo things and i feel bad about anyone that ever has to use them.

they're going to need twice as many buses as they currently have

& most of all, they need a subway line (like someone else pointed out).

i think that would seriously help the congested traffic and transporation mess in Lagos.

  • @2darnsexXxy

i wouldnt say all the wealthy folks work on the island. have you seen lagos traffic? often times in the morning, the heavier traffic is going towards the island, and in the evening the heavier traffic is going back to the mainland.

more people work in on the island, than actually living there, thats a fact.

  • Babatunde Fashola , Please try and run for president for I'll come to nigeria to vote for you , You are making all nigerians proud, I'm Ibo and has never live in lagos but I just appreciate the way you setting an examples for others to fellow,we love you , all the way from U.S.A.

  • @margaret1353

chei! you are Igbo but spelling it "Ibo"

    na wa for you oooooo!!!

but i agree with you, nonetheless.

  • Lol if they build those sky scrapers (EKO Atlantic) in Nigeria and get developed I promise Nigeria I will return.

  • Comment removed

  • @RobertsDigital

Shebi na the skyscrappers u go chop

or na the skyscrappers go make peace reign 4 naija.

A failed state is a failed, no matter how many highrises dey there

  • It is funny how rich nigeria is and still lagging behind in development.

  • @nellykrac

How do you know that have you been t here? do you even know the dynamics of government or policitics in Nigeria?

  • This story came out more than a year ago. What's the current status of the project, does anyone know?

  • @jalabi99

Yes, go to skyscrapercity[dot]com for updates.

  • @rdokoye Thanks!

  • In a way u can't blame the hausa tribe for claiming birthrite to the country's leadership, the few igbo puppet politicians are too complacent as long as they are getting a piece of the national cake..... Shame on all Politicians. Go see what Dubai and qatar are doing with their oil money even angola and u have the audacity to call urself a great nation. great my foot. Greatness starts from within. treat ur citizens right and see how productive they can be.

  • @gusto4106 Just like fucking retarded Africans to always bring tribal issue on the table. That's why you'll remain in a cesspit. Competence is more importance than any tribal crap.

  • @TemplarX2 ...... And Past leaders have exhibited competence??? Spare me!!!! I can your iQ is that of imbecility. Counter with a better argument and perhaps you may get an intelligent reply from me otherwise Go fuck urself.

  • @gusto4106 Hausa, yoruba whatever!? You are all negroes in my creole eyes. Ban that tribal crap and get some harmony.

  • Yes, Fashola for President only after an Igbo or delta man has gotten their turn to the leadership. Nigeria is not only made up of hausa and yoruba, the real people, south east indigenes, (u know, the ones with the oil) are suffering too much. If not, south east should go the gadahffi route. They have the resources to start from scratch. Everyone is revamping their state with our oil money, while not one single international airport in owerri, enugu, or delta. BullShit!!!! if u ask me.

  • @gusto4106

who cares about all this take your turn stuff! Nigeria has suffered long enough and does not have time to do this "Igbo man first, Efik man second, blah blah blah"

we need someone like Fashola now! whether he is another Hausa, Tiv or who cares!

Nigeria doesn't have time and Nigeria's people have put up with the crap long enough.

before you attack me, I'm Igbo myself.

  • @goldenismonica Well if i may ask, Isn't the definition of stupidity doing the same thing and expecting different results? Hausas and yorubas have plunged Nigeria's economy and integrity into a pit. Honestly, I am ashamed to call myself a Nigerian. Fashola this, Fashola that, go and see what the governor of Edo state is doing to his state, the guy's good but the few edo people do not brag or maybe they really don't care. Nigeria is not just Hausa and Yoruba.

  • @goldenismonica Yes I speak about turns because these fucking northerners regard the leadership of Nigeria as their birthrite and these fools have nothing. Johnathan hasn't even ruled the country for 4yrs and they are already counting the number of terms he's allowed to serve. We don't need someone like Fashola, we need someone as educated as Fashola. Even a nomadic fulani will do a great job if he's gotten the same or better exposure to education as fashola.

  • @goldenismonica You can sit there and say that you are Igbo and don't care who leads, perhaps u lack the foresight to see the wrong going on in that country. Go and compete for a job in Abuja or Lagos with a yoruba man and see who will get that job, Nigeria needs to have fresh leaders from the south or leave the south alone to secede to its own sovereignty. The South produces over 90% of Nigeria's resources and it's people should have a say of what goes on in Aso Rock. That's my view!!!!

  • @gusto4106

i agree and disagree with some of what you said.

  • o0o i want to see eko atlantic

  • they're wearing clothes at the beach :D

  • @MissVampireDiaries Y.Not. We cannot all be lovers of nudity like Westerners.

  • Is good foreign contractors are doing it. Nigerians do it, by the time they collect bribery and shit, all the money is gone. I look forward to EKO Atlantic. Beautiful name by the way.

  • Besides nigeria contractors will embezzle half of the money and use the other half to do the job, which will result in lagos tsunami.

So I prefer the foreigners to do it.

  • Echoed my thoughts exactly.

  • wow im proud of the development Niagara is having

  • It's not Niagara for fuk sake ...it's called NIGERIA!!!

  • ok thanks for the correction

  • Its Nigeria! not Niagara

  • Which part of Lagos is this cos I went lyk dis summer but it was not dat developed or anyfink

  • R u sure u're in Lagos? Well every country have its ghetto

  • Dats obviously Bar Beach at VI

  • why doesnt the government help develop the other states

  • Why would the government help develop other states...this is Lagos state for God sake...let other Governors do their own job as well!

  • Lagos needs a subway like no other city of which I know...

  • they're building one

  • Nigeria should easily be Africas Dubai!we have bountiful natural resources to enable it. Land reclamation is happening all over the UAE and it has benefited their economies positively, for those questioning why Nigerians are not carrying out the work? well thats because it is not a field that we are specialised in - all similar projects in the middle east were carried out by foregin contractors who monopolise the sector solely due to experience. hopefully this benefits the country?

  • they are ALREADY RECLAIMING LAND/

  • ana emenu

  • based on thi news I can see that Fashola is doing a good job, but part of our problem is that it is the foreign contractors doing this job after they get paid, they will take the money back to go and spend in their home country. If the money was spent in the nigerian system, there will be more jobs available for the nigerian people.

  • It is better the contract r given to foreigners becos from past experience the nigerian contractor neevr finish the jobs so giving the contract to outsiders is good at least they will employ nigerians to do the job and they can learn too

  • the mainland in modernising infrastructures

  • Aint this foolhardy? Why try renovating the coastal areas of Lagos (where the sea is a constant threat, regardless of measures taken to curb its land intrusion) instead of modernising the dilapidated infrastructures of Lagos interior (mainland))?

  • good point!

  • I asked d same questn while watching. With the threat of global warming and rising sea levels, why not develop the main land? Developing the main land would help save money from having to reclaim land, the levees, and all that. Dubai and the like are having to do this sort of thing because they are truly small and have no way to expand but outwards. I think the project can be stopped and the new city be moved inwards where they won't have to worry about d sea.

  • Correct. When will Nigeria ever learn to think and do a sensible thing?

  • would it be fair to say that a place such as lagos actually has an ADVANTAGE over more developed countries in becoming a major eco city because they get to build it with the knowledge the world has now on new land vs having to completely change an already established and built area?knowing what i do about nigeria corruption and scams,is this challenge actually looked at as something that WILL happen or are we speaking only of possibilities here?how long is a gov term there?when was he voted in?

  • carry on fashola.......we wiill make it...in respective of the so called doubting thomas and psycophants...if u dont know......nigeria is undergoing a revolution......and nuffin is gonna stop it...

  • Second largest city in Africa, and about to become third largest metropolitan area in the world: Lagos is splendid! If you live in Lagos, love the city and would like to share information with us, please contact me. Information is for Viva! Lifestyles, a magazine featuring lifestyles in 12 major cities worldwide, among them Lagos ;-)

  • My goodness. Most of you are so deluded if you think this is a viable or even remotely beneficial project. The simple facts are that Tinunbu is a criminal, Fashola is his puppet and how on earth can they even attempt to build a city on the atlantic when Lagos as it is, is a sinking putrid, overcrowded mess.

  • @The Truth296, your name surely is The lie!! what again did you need to know before you and many other agent of rhetoric lies believe the fact that Fashola is nobody's puppet? I mean this guy(Fashola) have achieved what the president of the country cannot even achieve within the shortest period of time and he is still up and running. Just watch if you have no tangible thing to do! Fashole is a Leader and not a manager like others..this is the simple truth.

  • nice city largest in africa after cairo hope it donesnt flood

  • The city won't flood, they're preparing it to become a much better city ;-)

  • It is very tough expensive to win forces of nature, ask New Orleans in USA, Take that money and please clean up Lagos mainland, it is giving Lagos a black eye, take out the trash, design a city plan and provide a reliable electricity and water supply for the whole of lagos, I still admire Fashola and I wish all our governors could be like him.

  • according to an oceanographer, the location of Lagos will make it possible to use modern tech to control ocean surge...unlike New Orleans, its location added to the inability of the engineers to come up with a winning formula to control forces of nature

  • hope it works out and dat corruption doesnt f**k up the plans

  • 80% of this project was financed by foreign property and estate investors from NY, Dubai, London etc...so the issue of corruption is out of this project...lets wait and see the opening of the new lagos city

  • 1:41 is beautiful! kinda looks a little bit like miami. lol

man when i retire i want to live in Lagos. whether it be Eko Atlantic, VI, Lagos Island, or Lekki.

but Lagos Island is #1 on my list. lol

  • wow! i love seeing great things happening in my home country.

but after this project its time to focus on other parts of lagos. the not so good areas. so far fashola has been doing a GREAT JOB!

i cant wait to visit the new lagos maybe years from now.

VI, Lagos Island, Lekki, and Ikoyi look good enough, great job!

maybe if Fashola runs for president and wins we can see this ALL over nigeria. i pray!

people that dont want to see nigeria progress are fools!

    Naija 4 Life!

  • check out Eko Atlantic - Inside Story!

  • Utomi and Fashola for 2011

  • You are right, Bellemskey. Fashola and Utomi are two leaders with brains. They understand what "working for the common good of the people" means.

  • I have often said, having being about the world quite a bit, that very few countries have the potential of Nigeria. The rest of the world is slowly coming to realize the fact.

  • the project is well on course..Eko oni baje o

  • as usual...i agree with you a bollion percent! all na story

  • BABATUNDE FASHOLA!!! More than ever, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has reawaken my hope in Nigeria. With a couple of leaders with brains, like him, there is hope for the nation. He should be the president of Nigeria - not a state governor.

  • all na story!!you can imagine tinubu in the report?WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT BALD HEADED,SPECTACLE WEARING,OLD SUN OF A BITCH DOING STANDING NEXT TO FASHOLA??the motherfucker had 8 fucking years to do wat fashola is doing in half the time...i pray this fine young man doesnt get corrupted by tinubu and the likes plus i wish to God this happenes but we have seen this times without number but there is also a first time for everything..i pray this is that time..amen to taht o!EKO ONI BAJE

  • i was in Naija last month and went on the cite I saw no work in progress and I wish it stays so. Why waste money to battle nature that you will never win, let the land lost go simply stop more from being lost and spend all that billions of dollas developing lagos inward towards ogun state build new rapid roads from one end of lagos to the other build rapid rail lines so ppl can live at the edge of ogun state and still work in lagos, Or better yet spend it on providing electricity to lagos.

  • Perhaps from this project new technology for electricity will be discovered. Wind/waves are very powerful and in 10, 20 years time maybe wave/wind power will be used to generate electricity. Natural resources like waves and wind power are free and now is a good time, (when the world is concerned about climate change) to be thinking ahead and to bring in experts and technology that can help make the most of natural and abundant resources.

  • What else can i say. If all the Nigerian Governors are thinks like Fashola today . Nigerians would have stoped receiving insults from the rest of the developed world

  • This will be a grand achievement and success.

The design of Eko Atlantic offers the coastline protection from the impact of the waves. Not only will the waves be arrested from eroding the land but it will bring new business opportunities, foreign investment and technology to Lagos. It is a permanent solution to the beach erosion threatening Victoria Island.

  • The new governor Fashola has made a swift and positive impact on Lagos. His vision for Lagos is commendable. I hope one day, Lagos can host an Olympic Games or World Championships and that Nigeria can host a World Cup. Hard work and determination is required to host a World Cup, I hope other Nigerian cities receive a similar boost, so Nigeria can successfully host the World Cup. Lagos is the beginning, Ibadan, Abeoukuta, Ilorin, Owo and all the rest to follow.

    Go Supereagles.

  • keeo u the good work

  • This is a pretty development. We shouldn't dig this deep to find positive stuff like this. Our TV stations should broadcast this as often as possible - they waste A LOT of time doing nothing anyway! Am not a Fashola fan, though I voted for him. Most of his "projects" are shoddy as far as am concerned but, this, is terrific.

  • It is not impt dat everybody will appreciate fasola but he is taking a bold step to improve living conditions in lag.eko atlantic is just a means of expanding lag n reducing pollution. i dont think the obj of the project is housing as some folks believe that that resources shld be used for average nigerian.Itsbetter to enbark on such project than saving it in someone's private acct in swiss or usa.

  • Comment removed

  • Have in mind.! Fashola is trying to clean up LAGOS, not Nigeria has a whole.

The population of Lagos is high. If he should start by clearing up the Low class area..all of them will be homeless becos he will have to evacuate them.

There are other states in Nigeria that people can now go and start business and/or get jobs but everyone wants to sit/dead in LAGOS. People feel it they don't stay in lagos then there is no hope. WRONG. look at Port-harcourt & Ibadan all growing so are other states.

  • I'm not happy with some of the negative comments. Everyone is entitle to his or her opinion. But remember if ABACHA were still alive today. We might be close to the situation in ZIMBABWE. ABACHA stayed well clear of lagos. AFRICA can never be like EUROPE whether pre, during or post COLONIAL ERAS. We just need to be make the most of what is going on in nigeria. Many of us left NIGERIA while the CHINESE moved in to take the opportunities of what is going on there.

  • You said something about the chinese moving in to take advantage of the situation....why?,.....becos they have the money to invest and execute contracts like these ones ....if i had the same kind of money trust me i will be discussing with the lagos government.

  • why dont u shut your dirty mouth. what are you doing to help build. sitting ur fat yellow ass up in america. we building back home. dumbass. and yeah its buff from nr. buhahahahhahaha

  • if fashola do this he will be the best governor nigeria ever have and also nigerian government needed to creat job for people and build more school

  • fashola..the best governor in the world

  • Agreed.

Lagos is a very, very, very complex city. I admire someone who goes about to tackle it's problems the way he is.

Time to take this city to the next level, and raise the entire standard of the country, whether it is Education, Jobs, Environment, Energy, Agriculture...You name it.

And Time to change the image of Lagos. It's been poorly advertised in the past. Lagos is much more than what most non lagosians think it is.

    Cheers

  • So let me get this straight; there are poor people in Lagos with no houses, no jobs, and no education. There roads and infrastructures that require government funding for maintaintence. Teachers need to be paid. Schools need equipment. But the government decides to build a freaking underwater city??? That's just fucking stupid. Another example of the Nigerian government thinking backwards. What the fuck - after the city is done, only the rich and corrupt will be able to live there.

  • go to lagos and voice your opinion otherwise shut your filty mouth.......i no fit shout!!!!!

  • Currupt as in what? As in stealing? I don't know where you are from, but I know that your wretched country is damn very currupt than nigeria. The problem is that it is well hidden, so that the world, deaf and dumb citizens like you cannot realise that! Is the U.S, China, India, U.K not currupt? are they under-developed? Stay there and be concentrating on curruption. I pity you if you are an investor. By the time you will realise the potentials that Nigeria has, it will be too late. Ask Vodacom!

  • China, India, U.k and the U.S.A are corrupt, but you cannot compare these countries with Nigeria in terms of infastructure and overall well being of its people (maybe except for parts of India and China). Yes they are corrupt, but can you tell me the last time Gordon Brown stole billions of pounds from the U.K? Politicians in the U.K ride on the tube with everybody else, Nigerian politicians ride with the whole police force when their coming through town, am I wrong?

  • HEY FAG!!!.....u better not put india(shit hole of the world!!!) in dat shit list of urs coz dats where im and it fuckin stick here.......IDIOT!!!

  • So there are no bad parts in India?

  • am nigerian leavin in new york, lets be honest with our selves india is well ahead of nigeria,my only fear is when fashola is gone what next for lagos we lack continiuty in nigeria,a new gover nor comes and he brings new vision then what next..was in lagos and all i see is beautifyin the city people are still hungry, no jobs, no elctricity and the roads are so bad ,how can enything good come out of it fashola is a man fightin so many demons things have to be done economically first

  • india? u got to b joking. iv been to india and the first hing i saw were dead bodies on the road ..the dark skined indians packing the bodiess. as in u really need to do ur research first... embrace wat one is doing and u do your part rather than sit there waiting for another fashola...i belieive u have one brain like fashola does.. so do something and stop compaining.

  • okay are their no dead bodies in nigeria .y are the american companies taking jobs from america to india cos econimically india is better they are among the 8 devoloping nations be real and lets face the facts in nigeria. Not beautify a city makes a city but provide jobs electricity and see how things wld fall in place in nigeria... even their movies and actors are recognized in hollywood nigerias u make me laugh

  • nigeria was one the list of developing economies as well :)

  • duane2kelly why u keep going on "providing electricity" in your comments on Lagos videos? In the US and UK, utilities are privately provided. Lagos state cant provide electricity on its own because it's the central govt that owns it. This issue has now been legally dealt with as Fashola has signed a contract with a Singapore Energy company to provide electricity for Lagos state..meaning that the state will have a control over its energy source!

  • good question? i walk as on engine planes and virtue of my job i move around the states/world fixng broken planes for delta airlines.I was able to see one thing electricity builds the development of a country.I was suprised with india having stable elctricity haVing a subway system that walks pretty much and a 12 space satellite station .Fashola is trying no doubt but i b elive we have so many smart people in nigeria with no jobs and the goverment doesnt care. I was in nigeria some month ago

  • and happened to stay in nicon hilton abuja do u know the hotel runs on 24 /7 generator and how can a nation grow without electricity. That is the foundation of the development of lagos and nigeria

  • I honestly reason along with you, but mind you electricity is a national problem - i meant the central government responsibilities. The structure of national resources in Nigeria needs to be amended because it's not helping states like Lagos to provide certain services on its own. Am very sure that if electricity could be independently provided, Lagos would have tried to generate its own electricity with or without NEPA or PHCN

  • Mate, every country is corrupt, but if your country is so corrupt that the corruption can't be hidden, then it's REALLy corrupt.

  • Go to hell looser

  • I don't understand why I'm being insulted, but at least do it properly, its 'loser' not 'looser'.

  • Just so you know, the rest of the world spells differently. Some examples are colour instead of color and a thousand other words.

  • Loser is spelled loser.

  • lol

  • wot about dis.....? BIATCH!!!

  • sorry...meant "entire state"

  • I was in lagos few months ago and I must confess that the new governor is making bold steps not only for VI but for entire country.

I understand the way people feel cos of historical past. Lets see the cup half full

a good eg. is the cleanup of Oshodi which began b4 I left

  • That's the same statement i was told. My mother went to Lagos in summer of 2008 and she said the same thing. That's why i'm wondering why they believe the new lagos governor is only doing this for millionaries.

  • Be realistic, an average Lagos inhabitant is not going to be able to afford the imaginary buildings that you see in this video.

  • Amazingly unigerian

  • Comment removed

  • LOL! I've been watching this debate but seriously I have a couple of questions now after reading the comments. About the erosion issue-wouldn't it just be better to build this EKO Atlantic city elsewhere in Lagos? And just move the people off of Victoria ISland? I guess that would be EXTREMELY COSTLY to move the people and demolish the buildings cuz they're still constructing on the Island from what I've read.

  • They could even use the money to build a metro system through out lagos state. They only jumping the fundamental projects the people need. provision of constant energy supply. good hospitals, good schools and Good market.. plot in that new lagos would go for about 20 million naira which the common man cant afford so who is their target? is it not the same BILLIONAIRES who already have homes at decent places?

  • 20 million is probably a low estimate.

That's only a few years rent in VI and Ikoyi.

We all know these plots will go to those who have the money, and those people are more than likely to have already acquired large plots in VI, Ikoyi and Lekki in the earlier land rush. The money that is generated from the land sale will be chopped by Lagos State Government, where as we know any large sum of money disappears with ease.

Google Tinubu and Chicago to get a measure of the people backing this.

  • Oneoarwar, Thank you very much.

  • omg. have you guys even watched other videos about what's done in Lagos? hmm. The millionaries, so they opening land for millioniares. Since you guys knoe politics so much? Tell me what the land will achieve for those with houses everywhere and what it wouldn't achieve for poor folks without places to even stay? after all you all are so smart about politics.

  • LOL.. Nigerians love to waste money.. Why dont they develop Ibadana, Abeokute, Ilorin, Owo and all the rest Yoruba towns instead of wasting money to sand fill some ocean deep shore that wont stay long. ?

  • You're exactly the kind of Nigerian that i have a problem with.Always finding fault in EVERYTHING.Have you forgotten that Lagos is basically the financial nerve centre of Nigeria?By the way, it's a STATE PROJECT, not a federal one.

  • Nonsense, The land after its been reclaimed would go to the same rich men who alread have homes at VI, IKOYI,IKEJA GRA AND other places. Why dont they use the money to develop ajegunle, mushin, itire, agege etc. that money being used to pay those white men could be used to develop the inner lagos state.only nations like japan that lack land reclaim ocean shores. and for your infor kano is more commercial than lagos.

  • And some abia governor started giving out free lunches in a public school and parents accused him of trying to give their children Juju. Yeah the government sucks but anytime they do something to help, we always accuse them for something or we just don't take it.

  • yet Africans wonder why western like protraying everything happening in Africa is bad?

When they show a positive one, an African will try to turn it negative.

We wonder why? killayut is an example of why.

  • The amount of money they will use to pay the white people should be used to tarr the roads in ajegunle and to build residential homes for the poor people in form of low cos houses. Lagos state has a lot of land at Kirikiri and tarkwa bay and the badagry area. That dredging is nonsense. Thats not developement. people dredge oceans to get land when they lack land for projects. They are only using tax payers money to provide heaven for rich people who already have homes.

  • child, have you been to Nigeria RECENTLY? cause alot of Nigerians living in Nigeria and alot of Nigerians that visited Nigeria in 2008 said that the governor in Lagos have cleaned the streets in Lagos. The same shit happened in Anambra. huh, i guess they are doing something. oh last time i checked, public schools in Nigeria is free and yet majority of parents refuses to send their children there.

  • And you sound racist right now. The money they are wasting on white people? You know that same money also goes to the white African farmers, nigerian government brought to help the northerners increase food in Nigeria. The same money is going to white people, they brought to help Nigerian builders fix the road, etc. We don't mind when white people are paid to help the music industry but yet we get pissed off when they are paid to help fix the country? Racism in Africa surprises me.

  • ok, let me come to your level, cos you dont seem to understand. Lagos is still part of nigeria.. developement could extend beyound the lagos ogun state border.. ikorodu has a lot of land.. epe has too badagry has too and all these places need fund for developement.. good roads, electricity, housing and drainage... not to build posh land for billionairs.. the new lagos in the ocean wont be for the average people. the same millionairs would get the land. it is not necessary.

  • seriously how do you know only millionaries would afford it? When the ne lagos governor starte creating a new way to travel in lagos. people claimed, only millionaries can afford it, now it seems everyone is riding it. Check out another video about lagos (i think aljerrza or something did it). So, how you know how much it will cost? Since you can see in the future. thanks. Also how much it cost? I would like to know.

  • Actually we do mind but I'm sure you know nothing about all the guys that are capable who won't get the jobs to do this work. The fellas who form companies to do the work but would never get the contracts because it's easier to round trip money through foreigners who would kick back money to the bank manager or governor and leave for their land when the deed is done (remember all those uncompleted projects). If you grew up in any place in that country among pple who actually were trying to do..

  • ..something worthwhile you'll understand why so many pple who are capable would do any and everything to leave the country. I could tell you stories of so many relatives that started companies chose to stay and do everything to work within the framework of integrity and build something and how many of them would be passed over for opportunities which would then be given to foreigners fresh of the boat. This after so many of them sunk all their savings into building factories etc. I've general...

  • I've generally stopped talking about nigeria, after 30+ yrs of fighting and trying to build things despite the odds, but every so often the igorance that spews forth from fellow nigerians (whether in diaspora or not) sometimes forces a response from me. I hope you would stop swallowing all the bs but then again you might be related to any one of these jackasses.. When you've spent a decent amount of your life building viable products and working within that chaos of a system get back to me.

  • You know we sound stupid, Lagos is OVER POPULATED, have you been to Lagos RECENTLY? that place do need more land for the people? Duh, before i left Nigeria, i knew that part. If a place has like you quoted "enough land". why in the hell will they claim it's overpopulated? hmm. Education, education, ya'll.

  • Africa on the rise!! :D

  • yeah yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Thanks for sharing with me Baba:-)

  • Fashola for president!

  • Soon things will get better I believe.

    I'm a proud Nigerian.

  • I feel good being part of this. This is democracy at work in Lagos.

In 2007 Lagosian stood their ground and voted for the present leadership and they are now reaping the fruit of it

  • It's not democracy. It's 'a good man'. Democracy has nothing to do with this.

  • Well If you understand that democracy is a system that allows a GOOD man to become a governor; then you'll understand what i am saying.

If you were in Lagos in 2007, you'll see how Lagosian came out to vote , so that "koro" does not become gov...........that's democracy brother

  • No,

There are good people as Governors even in dictatorial/or military regimes.

Democracy is just an illusion....which also leads to terrible governors and presidents.

Dubai is not a democracy, yet it developed smartly like no other nation has, with virtually little to build upon.

  • And you, must take the prize for being the most deluded of them all.. democracy is something that has not happened yet in Nigeria. Maybe you are reaping the fruit as you are one of the kick back recipients of these ghastly projects.

  • This project sets apart the difference visions brings to leadership...

  • God bless Nigeria

  • Amin
