  • i totally agree u r intitled to ur opinion so am i and the rest of u, so lets not point the finger on whos wrong and right because u never know

  • Your religion has a lot to do with my life and outhers. Its religion that starts wars

  • mrbuchanantoyou thank you for your frank and rational statement. It was refreshing.

  • ALSO please don't act like Atheists are the only people who try to convince/force peoples beliefs. Christian recruiters are HORRIBLE. Jehovah's Witnesses, it's their job to go door to door and try to convince you of the beliefs. All beliefs do it. They may sound troll-ish. But you looked REAAALy satisfied with yourself when you got that idea that "You don force your religion". Yeah, tha'ts you. Not the majority. You are intelligent enough to understand people have different opinions. Many don't.

  • Religion is the ultimate failure! FAILURE, FAILURE, FAILURE!

  • Why cant people stop fighting about religion.

  • I am an Atheist and i do NOT believe in The God Humans have made up !!!

I have kept the option open that there might be some supernatural force ... but its not God , not Satan and certainly not Allah ... imo religion is all about Money and Power ... and just to frighten people off to comply ! nothing more nothing less

  • @roughneckghost Then your not an Athiest :)

  • @Mazz1420 check my profile and then decide whether im one or not ... i do not believe in any God !

  • I am with you , everybody has choice to believe or not in a God !

But in this time of the century there aint much choice left cause religion gets more bored by the hour and not only bored but also stuck up our asses deeper by the day ... Allah akbar .... be-headings ... HATE .....Violence .... I cannot describe how much i am fed up with religion and certainly islam !!! My opinion remains ... everyone has a choice but not everyone gives another one the choice to believe or not !

  • hey since youre sick of the god debate and you brought up "freedom of choice", do you support the legalization drugs? including hard ones like coke and heroin? and do you support prostitution?

  • Its simple Religion was set up to make people money and give them power. You are brainwashed to belvie it form a young age when you grow up in a religious family or go to a catholic school. It teaches some good things But overall you have to be an idiot to belive in it or take it seriously.

  • this guy trie to make it sound like we live in a secular society. you and others may see it that way,but the truth is religion play a major role in must countries. it affects the lives of millions, and if it's wrong it's going to affect us in a negative way. religion did not come up with the idea of secularism. people who were tired of its strain on their lives did.

  • this guy won't force his religion on you, but i guess he's not your typical christian

  • I believe that there is something more powerfull but religon is bullshit

  • I think this is one of the best opinions on the religion debate I have heard in a long time, although I'm coming from it in the other direction. I don't believe in God, but as long as someone doesn't push their opinions on me, either way, I don't really give a shit about what someone believes. Thanks for this mrbuchanan

  • the problem with this guy's video is that he is trying to suggest that we are entitled to what we think (fine) but at the end says, "it's your choice, so proposing an end to the debate etc." is tantamount to saying, "look, what I say is right, just believe it & stop debating." & in doing so is trying to enforce a non verifiable belief on us after all, to which I protest. I protest because we should continue to look for the truth and not believe any old crap from savage times just 4 satisfaction.

  • Now that the debate is officially closed, I'd like to open another one.

I like chocolate. And if you don't like chocolate, there's something really wrong with you. I mean, how can you be an intelligent human being, and still deny the power of chocolate?

Feel free to prove me wrong. You won't, though. ;-)

  • It would be good if everyone had the same good intentions as you and religion was just as benign.

An individual can believe whatever they want and that right should be fought for. Organized belief systems however, needs detractors and dissenters because history has shown us that without these barriers they spiral into tyranny.

  • No, you do not understand science. When you chose to believe in something that contradicts everything we understand about our reality you gave up the right to say you understand science.

  • There are stupid opinions. And some people force their ignorant beliefs on others in that they pass legislation against abortion and against homosexuality. So, you are wrong when you try and pass off your belief as a benign choice you have made. Because on one hand you say this and with the other you take away the rights of gays and women and you use your belief to justify this.

  • @kausidya

Do i personally take away rights from Homosexuals or Woman and use my belief as justification for it?

My belief IS my choice, i don't pass laws, the same as i dont hold any judgement on someone for their sex or sexuality, as cliche as it sounds loads of my friends IRL and online are gay or female.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou Regardless of if you do it or not, you can not deny that it is done. Simply look at the laws in this country. There are many that have no justification outside of biblical. If someone does something to you that you don't like and tells you their make-believe friend told them to do it. It seems sensible to explain to them that their make-believe friend isn't real so they won't keep doing it to you.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou Most theists didn't choose to believe in god. They do because they where born into a belief that they think is right. If YOU where born in India, you wouldn't believe in Jesus. Therefore, people blindly follow religion.

  • @Mazz1420 This goes past the fact that there are plenty of people that convert and do in fact choose to believe.

When I grew up I was often bullied because of my beliefs and i'm still being discriminated against.

  • I couldn't agree more Mr. B. I don't believe in God, but I really hate getting into a discussion with people over it because it's completely your choice, and it's stupid to debate it because people are going to believe what they wish. I hate Atheists who think they're so high and mighty because they don't believe in God just as much as I hate Christians trying to shove The Bible down people's throats. IT'S YOUR OWN CHOICE. Sadly though, people are never going to understand that.

  • This video needs to be seen by everyone on youtube.

  • No, atheists aren't smarter than anyone else, they're just intellectually honest with themselves and others.

  • you sir, just earned another sub!

  • The problem I have with religion and the Abrahamic religions in particular, is that they have promoted a great deal of violence in the past. I realize that they are more about morals and living your life the right way, but destroying the lives of others completely defeats the purpose of them.

  • (cont.)…If there was one God who truly created us in his own image, then there would only be one religion present in the world today. If the being that created us truly does exist then he would not allow this to happen. Our creator would not be cruel. Our universe was definitely created, but whom or what created us has no interaction with us whatsoever.

  • People are indeed entitled to their own opinions. However, they are not entitled to their own facts. You can believe that there are unicorns in the world all you want, but you shouldn't take it as a personal attack if someone says that having such a belief is asinine. There's also a difference in believing in a god, and believing in a specific god of a specific religion that makes specific demands of the people on this planet. The former is understandable, the latter is untenable.

  • Well said.

  • Nothing silly about believing? LOL of course you're gona say that, it's obvious you are defending your stupidity.

  • It's only stupid when there are words involved... but it becomes serious when lives become involved simply based on the fact that one person/group believes in something that the other person/group does not!

  • Your accent reminds me of the Boondock Saints and I'm afraid if I disagree with you I'll most likely get shot a bunch of times, so consider me converted.

  • I guess you believe in Resurrected Jewish Zombies? Adam&Eve never Existed, so no NEED for JESUS.......GAME OVER.

  • Great video Mr B,

I study psychology and human biology (among other things) and so I can't help but put all my faith into science and not believe in a God. However my mum is a Christian and strongly believes in God and I completely respect her and in some ways envy her for it. We have often stayed up all night just talking about it. I don't see why believing or not believe makes a person any more intelligent or stupid.

The asshole line made my day ;P Cannot wait for your next video.

    Holly :)

  • @TheUncleNebs

If you want 100% REAL LIFE proof that RIGHT NOW the world is ending, search "end game alex jones full" on YouTube.

If you read the Bible, book of Revelations, it mentions "a new order" directly in the scripture, and a New World Order is something tyrants all throughout history have attempted to achieve!

Watch that documentary, TRUST ME, it WILL change your outlook on life!

  • @ExpertOfSound

Alex Jones is not anything near a reputable source of information. Do you actually believe that he is? How much stock do you put into supermarket tabloids? Also, the verses you're referencing in Revelation are so open ended, it's difficult to come to any consensus. And the recurring theme of people trying to reach tyrannical level of power through history should be a testament to the fact that the Bible mentioning it wouldn't be prophetic. It happened all the time, then and now.

  • @opmike343

He is, because if you piece the knowledge of every source of information together, and look at the broad spectrum, he is right in most of what he claims and says.

Do you research everything he says? (?)

Do I research everything he says? (yes)

The Bible is correct!! It says in Revelations "there will be wars, and rumors of wars, but this is not the end.." by that it is saying, unless the aforementioned signs are there, then it is not the end.

Look up RFID Chip "Mark of the Beast ".

  • A lot of the debate, at least what I see on youtube myself, is about non believers debunking claims by bible literalists (or Koran/Torah literalists). Many fundamentalists from various backgrounds do try to shove their beliefs down others throats. People like that do deserve to be debated and criticized.

Especially in the states, it isnt just on youtube. Down there they have people trying to destroy science education because it is teaching their kids that their literal view is not accurate.

  • my opinion? I dont care, if there is a god I dont care if there not I dont care

  • I couldn't give a damn about anyone's beliefs, race, sexuality or ethnicity. As along as they are realistically kind - not saying you have to be like Mother Teresa, or anything - and aren't hateful, then that's fine. We're all human, we're all different; it's time we tackle bigger issues, like global warming or Justin Bieber.

  • I'm a proud Christian. I'm not perfect (who is) but I'm proud. Nice video.

  • *opinion deleted* ;)

  • @pixonu Bahaha i like that :)

  • Everything happend for a reason !

  • sounds to me like you've been talking to the wrong people. almost all the atheists I know (including myself) would never lump all believers into one category as stupid and scientifically illiterate.

  • As someone who has lost belief, I do agree with you. The point is, the "F'ing stupids" are the extremists, May it be Atheists or Religious ppl. I find it very extreme and unfair to call every moslim or christian stupid unless they're using the religion to cover up stupid shit. When atheists go as far to judge others by their religion they have no difference with what they actually detest and they turn into hypocrites. I'm non-religious with lots of religious friends, we're doing fine :D

  • Not gonna lie, this debate strikes fear in my heart!!! :O

okay..slightly over dramatic..but when your totally caught in the middle of two opposing arguements it gets really confusing :/ i know what i believe, i just don't know if its worth even discussing anymore..

    I like debates :) but i hate arguements :(

  • "A video to end all videos"

Nothing you said in this video is new, and much of it is sloppy. The thing about "shoving" beliefs unto others is ironic, given that that is exactly what religion has done for the whole of history, and that the atheists of today at most want to engage in a dialectic. That isn't shoving.

And your very first claim made no sense, atheism isn't a fashion, and even if it was "cool" right now to be an atheist, that has nothing to do with the substance of the matter.

  • I have no problem with religeon. Live and let live.

However, it becomes a problem when christian organizations prevent evolution from being taught, or homosexuals from having rights

I understand that you personally don't force your views upon others. However, when other members of your religeon try to force they're views, of course there's going to be backlash

  • There's plenty silly about believing, you have no foundation at all for your beliefs and you even state the fallibility of your religious text at the beginning of your video. You say, "I don't try to prove you wrong", that's because you can't. (Although, you are right in thinking that the burden of proof is upon you as the believer).

  • Really well said, Kris!! Agreed!!

  • I'm not religious at all but you did a good job stating your beliefs.

  • Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends?.....fantastic song! :D

  • In your nice little fluffy cotton ball HD world I suppose it is "fucking stupid"

If your life depended on your religious beliefs being the right one, then maybe you wouldn't be so flippant.

Your arrogance and egotism is astounding.

  • @hEaDoNtHeBlOcK the right one? which one is the right one? the idea's you believe in?

i would more say you were being ignorant, i stated everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and shouldn't force them on others

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

Listen carefully. When the religion, right OR wrong, can directly impact your life (i.e. believing in the wrong one can get you killed) then maybe it would mean more than being "fucking stupid" to you. Look at all the people being murdered because some religious zealot has told them they are following the wrong religion. The world is bigger than your little bubble, mate.

Be thankful that you have freedom of choice, because many don't.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou I completely agree. I honestly think you just summed up how I felt about it. And I think that sometimes religion (Whether athiest or religious, I for one am non-denominational) gets in the way of people knowing others. And, quite frankly, if you want to contradict someone's religion (Not you, but others) You've signed a ticket to be carted off into the world of 1984. I say this because of the government in the book trying to narrow the minds of their citizens.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

Nice to see your little army of self indulgent robots are thumbing up your comment. It would be nice if they understood the context of my argument..........

  • @hEaDoNtHeBlOcK i'd hardly call 2 thumbs up an army

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

Fair enough. I was being a douche. I get a bit self rightous about this shit. I DO agree with the whole "freedom to choose" stuff in your video, I'm just slightly pissed off about the derisory ending......as you can tell, this is always a touchy subject. Sorry if I came across as a dick.......I worry sometimes that people don't realise the importance of religious discussion. People literally die because of this shit.

  • @hEaDoNtHeBlOcK I agree it's a touchy yet important subject that should be discussed, but not the way it is done on youtube 90% off the time as i feel its a war of words and immature. I was more getting at the debate on youtube, rather than in general,

DW about it lol at least you can come back and say maybe i should have worded it different, if you look through the comments on most religious debate vids its all "you'll burn in hell"

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

    True enough. Peace :)

  • While I think that belief without evidence (or even in spite of contradictory evidence) IS silly (the invisible purple dragon that's living in my garage agrees with me), I tolerate (NOT respect) people's personal beliefs as long as they aren't infringing on other people's rights/freedoms and as long as they aren't trying to shove it down my throat. I couldn't care less otherwise. Simply because I have done & will do silly things myself and you know the saying about glasshouses & stones... lol

  • @NoHiddenPath79 I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact, but then i think what/who put the atom there? i go round and round in circles lol

  • @mrbuchanantoyou The first atom was created in the big bang. What was before the big bang is unknowable, and personally I think it is more honest to say "we don't know and never will know" instead of just making something up like religion does. :) There is no need for a "god" in the creation of the universe, because once you say that the universe was created by a "god", you're left with the question "But where did that god come from?"

  • @NoHiddenPath79 But scientists started theoretical physics... proposals based on numbers... some things just aren't binary... scientists make things up just so they can make their proposal more believable

  • @NoHiddenPath79

Alright, continue to use "science" to actually believe that the universe came from nothing.

Based on science, nothing cannot create something, something can't even create something!

Believing there is no God is crazier than believing there is one, honestly!

Atheists, and people who think that because they have a college degree they are smarter, need to give up their ego for 2 seconds and realize that God is real, the Christian God, Jesus Christ.

Look up New World Order on YT

  • @ExpertOfSound What's your proof that god exists?

  • @NoHiddenPath79 Therefore you "believe" in evolution. Have you ever seen, smelt, heard, felt, or tasted evoulution? NO! Therefore it is your faith, and if you have faith in something you have never sensed it. And if you think it is ok to persecute Christians for their faith than you are a flat out HIPPOCRATE!

  • @TheFrenchWeasel

I think you have a fundamental misunderstand of the theory of evolution. Have you ever smelt, heard, felt, or tasted London dispersion forces? You can't simply right off a scientific theory as being based purely on "faith" while simultaneously having a strong understanding of what it is about. You should seriously consider being well-versed on a topic before summarily categorizing it and disregarding it.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou If the origin of "god" is an unanswerable question, why not save a step & say the origin of the univers is an unanswerable question? And if you say "god" always existed, why not save a step and say the universe always existed? :) I don't have a problem with people's beliefs, I have a problem with people who try to rationalize their fundamentally irrational beliefs. lol

  • @NoHiddenPath79 indeed. Wasn't that the text by Carl Sagen?

  • @mrbuchanantoyou And now I'm already bored of this discussion. haha

  • @NoHiddenPath79 <------------ What he said! :)

  • this guy is a dick

Us non-believers have your god slapped on our money, a church on every corner, door knocking for converts, in our pledge and in our schools... but we can't assert ourselves?

  • @AAL and stating "this guy is a dick" somehow helps your cause, how?

i'm not saying don't assert yourself, what i'm saying is we all believe in what we believe, no point in wasting breath arguing about it,

Where do you live that theirs a church on every corner? you could also say that its not fair on an alcoholic that there are bars all over town?

  • you sound like the cooperative guy "good with food"... totally has no link to the video but it was my random thought! xx

  • @maxinecassidy grr ima have to search that now lol

  • Sadly I wish I could just accept both sides as equal but they aren't, and the majority of negativity is towards the ones that will not back off & let everyone else be. I have yet to have an atheist knock on my door trying to sell his belief system to me, I have yet to have an atheist condemn me for supporting my gay & lesbian friends. Sure have had that happen from christians, why ?? because they are mostly (not all) delusional people who see the world in an "us vs. them" attitude.

  • @Hopekuma i'm with you on most off what you say tbh, i cannot stand when someone comes to my door pushing their beliefs in my face, the same as i cant stand them doing it in the streets.

i support gay rights, each to their own is my belief

as you say not all religious people do the things you mention, some do but, you could use the same logic when it comes to most things in life

  • you may belive in something more powerful but athist belife is based on logic!

  • @7ineedalife7 I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact, but then i think were did the atom start? who/what put it there? i'm going in circles lol

  • Great video Mr D. But you see I agree 100% with you.. I believe what I believe and they can believe what they believe I am not a atheist but People who want to be thats fine thats there life Now it does bother me people trying to push religion on people that does bother me and I would never push something that someone don't believe in on the person.. its just not right.. But I believe in god and always will..

  • @metalmulishawolf i 100% agree with what you say 2 :p

  • great points chris. i've always lived w/ the philosophy "to each his own". i feel everybody should be entitled to believe whatever they choose to believe in. where it gets me angry is when people try to infringe upon others' rights based on those beliefs. my being an agnostic never took away anyone's rights. that's not to say that every religious person is like this. i try not to generalize. i just call it like i see it.

  • @psushgirl *Cough* Kris :p

  • @mrbuchanantoyou whoops. i had a long day kris, sryyy >_<

  • My only real problem with the theory of organized religion is that millions of people fight and die over who's version of God is correct.

  • @Sludgekill99 i have to agree with you there, but that's a minority,

  • This video had me subscribed. I think this video doesn't just discuss Atheism, it discusses everything. Life. I mean it.

  • @TheK3lsinator The world would be a better place if we all just got over the fact that we think in different ways :)

Welcome aboard and thanks for watching :)

  • @mrbuchanantoyou Yah... if only. And you're welcome!

  • Agree so much! I'm a Christian but most people on youtube wouldn't know that because it's not relevant to what I do on youtube. I have never tried to force religious beliefs on anyone, yet I have often gotten a feeling from people that if I said I have a religion they would think that's stupid and be judgmental, and try to prove how I'm wrong. It's silly. :) great video!

  • @therealCiCa it's silly that people feel they need to hide what they believe in for fear off being called out, in my eyes there are no right and wrongs

  • On a more serious note, you're completely right.

  • @NeonWar1 Thanks :) currently googling Gatsby lol

  • YOU KILLED GATSBY!

  • @NeonWar1 Who the fluff is Gatsby lol should i know this one?

  • Amen. Let's put the massive argument and petty name-calling to rest already. I believe what I believe and it's everyone else's right to believe what they believe. :)

  • @ZoraMalfoy Well said :)

  • I completely agree with you

  • @bluejaybee17 Thanks for watching :)

  • Well said! As always I agree with you 100%. Scientists amaze me for thinking of alternate theories and proving why the world is here, but to me personally, it makes more sense for there to be a higher being watching over us than some atoms that randomly collided. It truly is that simple. Nice one Kris =D xxxx

  • @PurpleFunnyChocolate I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact,

but then i think what put the atom there?

  • @PurpleFunnyChocolate "Scientists amaze me for thinking of alternate theories" Alternate? Has there been another method shown to consistently be able to accurately describe the world and make accurate predictions from this? Nobody's denying your right to religious belief, but I have to point out that science isn't the "alternative". It is the only method we use to describe reality because it actually works.

Anyway, that's probably not how you meant it, so I'll not bang on about it. :)

  • @ScotsmanRS Fair enough. What I meant was that for ages and ages, religion and christianity were the answer to everything and nobody questioned it; I find it incedible that people like Charles Darwin came forward with new ideas that contradicted faith, something which was believed to be the only idea about the world, even if I don't agree with what he said! That was all :)

  • Well said!!

  • @MikesMultiVideos Thank you

  • I knew this video would have a lot of comments... gahhh controversy! Naughty Kris is back. I really like the dark green and black shadow, very classy.

  • @CheekTV Ha gotta love a controversial topic, gets our lil minds thinking.

Ooh i use that setting on most vids, cant remember the exact name but its a filter in Vegas 10

  • @mrbuchanantoyou I had Vegas 10 but it died so I'm back to the platinum pro 9 I bought :) xD

  • @CheekTV bought? what is this bought?

  • I've never believed in any religion, but I think if you can follow the basic vaues of the 10 commandments you can be a good person regardless.

  • @ThatBeatonBoy Here Here Jamie, well said

  • I don't know what my belief is anymore.

  • @AndrewXAnarchy With ya, after everything that happened last year, i've found great comfort in my faith but questioned it so much at the same time

  • @mrbuchanantoyou I never believed in the Bible. And I'm doubting my atheism.

There has to some force out there that put things into motion. But who says it couldn't be a single atom or matter than no one even knows about.

  • personally I'm atheist , I believe more in science and the big bang theory also my parents are atheist

  • @pcgamerguy1234 I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact

  • Faith is a wonderful trait. I don't have faith in a God, but I wish I did.

Faith leads to purpose leads to ambition leads to success.

  • @MZB1993 it can also lead to a lot darker things, as with most things it all depends on the person and how the perceive the written or spoken word :p

  • Atheism for the win.

  • @endthedisease in your opinion?

  • I agree that a stigma has been attached that atheists are more intelligent people.. such an ignorant statement.

The problem I have with religion is using it as an excuse for extreme behaviour. I only have to look at the civil war which is still ongoing in this country. Catholic vs. Protestant. What's Christian about murder?

Oh and it's nice to see you back on this channel, making my little brain work!

  • @candysomething you're welcome :) and 100% with you on that

  • "Opinions are like arseholes everyone has one" that made me laugh

Both sides are as bad as each other, where most debates go down the "your going to hell" road making the whole thing pointless

  • @hmfc0jambo Ha i love that line, use it a bit much IRL tho

Agreed, both sides are as bad as each other, but hey it's the same when debating about anything

  • I believe in God 110%. I Also can't stand when people talk call me stupid because they don't believe. I always respect everyone and never push my views on anyone or call them stupid for not believing as I do. We need to atleast agree we are human. why not respect each other.Donate the time we waste arguing and name calling and use that time for charity and helps others :) ♥

  • @AlwaysWishing1983 Couldn't have put it better myself

  • i dont believe in the bible because its basically hear say how do we know it wasnt just some story made up , but i DO believe there is a GOD :)

  • @DaCrazyOne25 I'm the same, I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact

  • It's hard to watch this without thinking of DarkMatter2525's recent "Fratricide" video...

  • @army103 I have no idea who that is lol worth me searching?

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

If you dig funny, atheism-themed cartoons, definitely. The one I'm referencing involves a character arguing with a group of fundamentalists preaching about a 6,000 year-old-earth, that god hates fags, etc. When he gets fed up & says something to the effect of "religion is stupid", a more reasonable, moderate Christian appears to defend religion. He portrays theism is a much more positive light, but when he leaves, the atheist is left dealing with the fundamentalists again.

  • For me atheism is not a choice. I find the evidence for any god (that I know of) completely laking and utterly nonsensical so it is not a mater of choice, but of reason and logic.

  • @nyBrit i'm not going to argue with you about that as it's your choice, recently i've been questioning my own faith a lot but as i state its not for anyone but ourselves to decide. I agree with science, i understand it and tbh i see the bible and faith as a way to live your live rather than a book off pure fact

  • I dislike people who try to convert or speak down to me because of my views in the same way that I dislike people who slag off Religion.

Religion can either be something good in a persons life or it could be their end. But you can say that about anything really. xx

  • @ThatDyslexicGuy indeed you can Kerr, i like your way off thinking

  • hehe, when you come to an understanding. When you've had experiences which can not be explained. It neither matters. When you see how the universe is constructed every facet, down to the atom. The way we think, the plethora of emotions. Interrelations and interactions. A joy to be alive, grateful to be created. A deep humble love and respect to what i perceive be only a fraction. Like others, i could go on and on :)

  • If only more people were like you. Sadly that is not always the case. There are people who kill in the name of Christianity. There are people who have ruined their lives, believing they were to turn their back on their own family or medical treatment. There are people who, motivated by holy books, attempt to limit the rights of women, gays, atheists, etc. Religion is not over all a problem. But sometimes it is a problem. That is at least why I am in the debate. :)

  • @jillum89 I agree with what you say but what do you actually gain from the debate other than a sore throat or hand from typing? religion is a topic many people feel so strongly about and you're never going to change their minds

  • @mrbuchanantoyou What do you actually gain?

    -

I have several times had people at least see things from a different perspective. See that homosexuality is not something to fear or look down upon. See that forcing beliefs upon others isn’t acceptable. And that is a win. But even if. If nothing else. Then simply keeping the conversation going helps people remember that religion isn’t and shouldn’t be immune to criticism. Which it has been for centuries. And I am just having fun. :)

  • I think both sides are as bad as each other - I haven't made a video talking about my religious views because I just know I'll get the comments telling me I'll burn in hell. I like a good debate don't get me wrong, but only with people I know aren't going to get offended or think we're trying to convert each other - it starts to get you thinking about the flaws in your own beliefs.

  • @IconifiedEpic With you on that one hun, wish people would grow up and realise that the only real thing people have in common is that we're all human and have our own opinions/beliefs

  • The only thing I have issue with is with your words, "I understand that the Bible isn't 100% accurate."

If God's Word isn't accurate, than there's no point in believing in the God of truth. Everything has to be correct, or none of it is. So which is it, Mr. Buchanan?

    Just saying.

  • @EBov91 you're missing the point off the video obv, but anyway i suppose i can explain, IMO the Bible isn't gods words, its a book written by how many people over how long a period off time, it's been translated how many times? obv their are inaccuracies in it. For one if God created man and earth in 7days as is stated in the bible, then where did the Dinosaurs come into it? or are we pretending they didn't exist?

  • I feel that a lot of the debate is treated like a sport where you cheer for your side and call the other side names. I quite like the debate when people stick to the points that are put to them and learn somthing from the other side.

  • @kevinscales Not gonna lie i love a good debate/argument and i agree that you can learn a lot from each other by having a healthy debate about it, However as you say it usually goes down the you're going to hell road, at which point the debate becomes pointless.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou

there is no debate there is is idiots that are uneducated inbred and didn't finish high school

and there is people like me who are educated.

  • @sykeo123 Educated on what? Obviously not basic English grammar.

On a more serious note... There is definitely a debate. As long as there are different opinions on something, people are going to debate. Not all christians are inbred and/or uneducated. The human being wants to believe. Wether it be in religion or science, or both.

  • @mrbuchanantoyou True, I think though that videos like this one seem to be giving the message of - 'let's not bother discussing it because it will only lead to people getting upset' which I think is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Instead the message should be to only discuss it if your going to be mature about it and to try and get somthing out of it for yourself (get closer to the truth/understand others) rather than simply convincing everyone else of your position.

  • i have never sought out christians to tell them they are wrong. i have never made a video professing my atheism and calling everyone else stupid. because i am not disrespectful. i know there are ones who do this sort of thing, but is it really fair to put us all in one group and shoot us?

there are two sides to this.

so while i'm not hunting down random videos telling everyone they're wrong, why don't they stop telling me i'm going to burn in hell for wanting equality rights for gays?

  • @JangoHarkness Both sides are as bad as each other, for every1 understanding Atheist or Christian there are ten willing to force their opinion down your throat.

i state at the start that i'm refering to people who debate or make a video about the subject, not putting everyone into a group :p

  • @reddawg7246 i too am Catholic and proud to say i am, but i understand everyone is entitled to believe in whatever they wish, why would we be given Free will otherwise.

  • to much to type....hmmm...should I make a video response....*wonders*
