The Lally Twins, Joanne and Janet, never made a Double-mint Gum Commercial. I can say this for sure because Joanne on the right is my Mom and on the left is Janet, my aunt.

I remember another ad for Certs: "If she kissed you once, will she kiss you again? Be certain with Certs!" I'm amazed that there aren't tons of lewd comments about the blonde twins in the ad. I remembered being very disappointed a number of years ago to find out that retsyn was really only vegetable oil.

And I just remembered - in the '70s, "Saturday Night Live" in one of its early seasons did a satire of this commercial.

"Shimmer's a floor wax!"

"Shimmer's a dessert topping!"

"Stop! You're both right! New Shimmer's a floor wax...and a tasty dessert topping...in one!"

I remember being able to recite much of this commercial from memory from seeing it repeatedly in the early '60s.

And yeah, "Two...two...two mints in one!" was a huge success as a slogan, to judge by how many people remembered it for years. And still do.

"A golden drop of Retsyn" was also a memorable statement.

hebneh...I remember a late 70's episode of 60 Minutes revealed that "Retsyn" was just vegetable oil. I've never thought of Certs in the same way again!
