The real cruelty seems to be allowing asylum seekers entry into the UK in the first place, the vast majority of whom are economic migrants.
It is not being realistic to think that they will quite freely just up sticks after a few years living within the UK given that it is much safer and better job prospects.
Certainly illegal immigrants should be deported immediately - those people who have not even claimed asylum and are working in the black economy or more likely are involved in crime.
