Watched this before my test at 1Pm today, passed with 4 minors (had the strictest examiner there according to my instructor) One of the minors was for doing 20MPH in an apparent "advised" 20MPH zone. Pretty much news to me, the others where just as bad. Anyways thanks for this video, fucking helped alot!
@multipinkpolkadot Yes, only 1 minor fault though :) Not sure if you were to stall a number of times during your test, I'll have to check with my instructor as my test is next week!
@multipinkpolkadot A stall can be a serious fault if it causes inconvenience to other drivers. Learn how to recover calmly, safely and quickly from a stall. Do not take your test if you keep stalling.
I don't know why so many people are getting worked up over this element of the driving test. It is straightforward to me, you will be doing this in 'real life' and should add to your driving confidence not lessen it. You will probably fail if you are going to fail through lack of preparation or if you generally fall apart from nervous tension. Then that's upsetting but not the end of the world. Yes the Gov is making money but What's New???
this is another another way to screw people 's money . what is 10 Min independent
driving while learners take their driving lessons on the roads ? . myself , I can drive from London to Portsmouth , but , I still failed my test . nonsense xxxxxx
I passed today with 5 minors, i'm not sure if thats good or average. Thanks sholao for these videos, they really helped me prepare for my test. I wish you all the best in your future career.
I passed today. This independant driving section is pretty easy to grasp, and undertake on test day. For instance, my examiner asked me to turn right at the end of the road, then follow signs to the city center. At one point I went off course. He told me I went off course and simply guided me back on route. He didn't note it as a fault or anything, as long as you drive safely, that is number 1 priority.
Fail driving test because they don't want people driving, bastards. Its just a shame that most jobs require a driving license, fire fighter, ramp handler, police officer. DSA and government you don't just destroy driving opportunities but also young people getting the jobs they want because of your arrogance, spiteful ways. Do us all a favour .
I took my test for the first time yesterday and failed. It did take me by surprise by driving around that new housing estate heading into whitlesea, but it would have gone alright for me, had that twat of a car behind me not made me do something stupid like making me block the entrance/exit to a junction with road works ahead of me! Hopefully, its second time lucky.
i am gutted, i was meant to have my test today, i was a bag of nerves, only to arrive at the test centre with a huge nail in the passesngers front tyre, i could not go through with my test. I lose the money, but the worst thing is having to find another, prepare for it and go through those nerver allll ovvvver aggggain :(:(
@smiff198907 i was late 10 min for my test in watford due to traffic and i guess my instructor for not leaving early enough, make sure you arrive there early i say to everyone, noting worse then this , lost fee and confidence, and will have to get another booking, we all know that it will be at least a month, all my friends and family think a failed the test , nobody believes i didn't take the test !!!!
With as handy tools as GPS (every other drivers take so much far granted), this ID thing is such a useless intimidating tool! I failed due to this and rethinking taking it again.
@raniisc14 Wait, what? You failed on independent driving? That must have meant you carried out a serious driver error. You CANNOT fail on independent driving if you take the wrong turnings. It does not matter if you are instructed to follow signs to the town centre, but end up going in the opposite direction. It is a test of your driving skills, not your navigation skills.
I passed today 2nd attempt.I should have got it on my first go but on a silly mistake i failed. The independent driving test is easier as you can ask the examiner if you forget where you want to go. Its still the same though except you do 1 manoeuvre.I had to do bay parking at the start of my test which I thought I messed up pretty bad as I kept on going forwards and backward.I decided to forget about it and move on and prayed in my head just before I got out the parking space. Just concentrate.
i passed it yesterday, 2nd attempt. i think its easy bcoz u know where u goin, u can check it if u forget and u have to do only one menouvre. i got 2 minore for not checking blind spot properly and one for cantrol whilst moving off uphill.
In conjunction with the new test BSM are collecting passers celebration photos which can be uploaded to their facebook page. Everyone who uploads is given a discount on the pass plus courses and the best ones are going to be featured on their website, one of which will win an iPad!
dont evan seem hard its just for the adi to judge the way u drive with out insuction an with u findin ur own way simple will stop sum drives getin on the road tho
The examiner will ask you to drive by either following a series of directions, following traffic signs, or a combination of both. That is a fact. You are poorm go check it out...
this is bull mate they just want to get less drivers on the road i have my test in a couple of hours so im praying i pass cuz i relly dont want to do this test wow
@2010petrolhead it means you need additional preparation for the 10 minute independent driving element, and there will be some peope who might initially be taken by surprise.
@2010petrolhead the new test is easier i past on the new test but failed on the old one and gives you good experience using road signs and following maps
Would you say this has been made harder or the same as per a normal test, i have failed 2 and have another booked not in october. I am so scared about this new test but i just want to get it done.
This is not how Independent driving will be delivered. You are misleading people who are already concerned enough about doing it in October.
There are plenty of official DSA videos on here that show it the way it will actually be done.
The examiner will not talk during the Independent Driving section to allow the candidate to concentrate, however any conversation will continue as normal for the rest of the test.
If there are no road signs at a junction the examiner will give you extra help.
TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE WORRIED AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO......... THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL DSA VIDEO AND THEIS IS NOT HOW THE INDEPENDENT DRIVING SECTION OF THE TEST WILL BE CARRIED OUT. PLEASE WATCH THE OFFICIAL DSA VIDEO TO SEE HOW IT WILL REALLY HAPPEN.
you are only given the target destination or a series of directions on a diagram/map instead of the teacher telling you at every turn which direction to go next. So instead of saying "next left, next right, straight on, at the roundabout third exit" the teacher will only tell you "Go to the town hall /or ASDA or the beach or whatever" and the student must navigate on him/herself by reading the signs. The idea is to learn to drive independentely.
@noonr001 I'm not quite sure, but I guess that would be allowed. After all, it's not a taxi driver test, this test is there just to make sure you can drive without someone else always telling you what to do next.
If you are not familiar with the area and don't know the destination you can tell the examiner before starting and then he has either to give a different destination, explain the way or draw a map of the way to the destination. Instead of drawing a map, using a road map should be OK.
How slow is she i could walk faster and why does she always pull the handbrake.
hamsta891 3 weeks ago
@hamsta891 Use the handbrake if you come to a stop for more than a few seconds. Otherwise it could count as a minor.

You let learner turn right from centre lane at roundabout and whilst negotiating roundabout, cut over to lane to their right.

At 4:16 - she switched into the middle lane to go straight at the roundabout. Shouldn't she have remained on the left hand lane?
