Beside that... I have to say that was one of the most appropriate and in some way cutest proposal scenes ver made in an anime. It worked because it was fitting for both characters and it was a good ending for one of the greatest anime ever made in the last 10 years.

We know Ed's birthday is in winter. He turns 16 at the beginning of FMA. In episode 45 it's getting cold and after the timeskip in episode 46 it's spring. I guess he turns 17 between episode 45 and 46.

@Mocchimon umm he doesn't turn 16 at the beginning at FMA, he's 15 there is an episode where Al says that Ed is 15 and he's 14, and yes his birthday is in winter, his birthday was somewhere between the episodes 45 and 46, but he turned 16, and so that makes him 18 or 18 and a half at the end of the series. I don't remember which chapter it was in the manga, but they say that Ed is going to be 16 soon, not 17 i 'm 100% sure of it! :))

Yes,he's 15 at the beginning. When they met Ling, Winry said that Ed is almost 16. And I take the "almost" as very soon and not as 60 chapters later. The problem is, we don't know in which period FMA takes place. Even Arakawa problably doesn't know because she doesn't care. In the end it's pointless arguing about it xD Sorry I bothered you.
