Curly Hair Tutorial...With Socks?!

This does work, trust me. I tried it before, I went to School and it stayed curly throughout the day. Plus you can use a haircomb on it and it wont go flat. Plus, whilst the hair is moulding into shape spray some Detangling Spray on it, (trust me it wont untangle it will stay volumised and more bouncy when you take socks out)

I usually do this with strips of tshirt, it can be so fiddly! Next time I will try thicker strips, it looks so much easier the way you are doing it. Thanks for the twist and spray tip, they look great.

@meggieq629 no your hair doesn't have to be damp.. All you have to do is put your hair up in it and sleep In it and it will work! I tried it with dry hair and it worked very well! Hope this helps!

@Alexik09 Actually, the socks do a better job. With paper bags, you can't cover a big section, so your hair ends up looking like your hairdresser just permed it crazy and tried to kill you with a bad hair day. xD

I cut up an old flannel shirt and used to do this but slowly the pieces got lost. The flannel I find now is really too thin. Thank you for pointing out socks to do this. I am looking forward to buying some cheap socks just for this purpose. The bulk kind in a bag for boys.

I like this way MUCH better than using paper bags. You can cover a much larger hair section by using socks, instead of paper bags. When I took out my paper bag curls, I looked like I had a perm gone wrong. It was so, so, so ugly that I had to wet my hair straight. With socks, it looks a lot better and much more manageable.

You need to have dry hair, because your hair may not dry when it's wound in the socks/rags.

My mom taught me how to make/use rag curlers when I was a kid.. My hair is pretty wavy/curly, and it gives me "Shirley Temple curls". I've never seen it done with socks before, though. I think it's a great idea! = )

If you have an old shirt or like old towels, just cut them into strips and use them. Ankle socks may work. But you may need more than you have, because ankle socks aren't that big.. then again, how big are your feet? lol.

For rag curls, I personally give myself around 6 inches of fabrics to work with. So yeah..

@JoJoLovesTaylorSwift my opinions: it would probably work with frizzy hair, def with wavy. you may need to put a non frizzing balm in your hair first.

just condition your hair beforehand and you should be fine. and i recommend this with dry hair because at least foe me, when its wet and i go to bed its still wet when i take the socks out in the morning and the curls fall out while it dries during the day.
