Huh, JFAC isn't hardcore, at all. They're far closer to metal. Deathcore, metalcore, whatever, they're not hardcore. And of course metalheads will say the same: "fuck off, JFAC ain't metal!".
dude, guess you haven't heard ALL harcore there's around, have you? Try some converge, refused, circle takes the squre, nation of ulysses, the dillinger escape plan, United Nations, Glassjaw, Envy. Most of these bands are better than your average metal band. And I know that many hardcore bands aren't technically challenging but generally they are harmonically more complex than metal (coming from a dude that plays classical guitar since he was 8). So hardcore isn't what most metalheads think.
@Saturdizzle I like Refused, Nation of Ulysses, and especially Glassjaw [I REALLY like Premonitions of War]. Maybe I'll buy some of their tracks on eMusic.
@rhtaft Good you apreciate :) I guess the only thing that I din't like about this video was that Job for a cowboyb was the only band mentioned, because I consider them completely lacking originality. But otherwise, I think this video was good.
@ToggafReggin69 Meshuggah isn't complex hamonically. It's rhythmically complex at the most. Besides, it seems like you didn't get my point at all. Maybe I just need to elucidate a little.
I'm not saying metal is bad nor easy, I'm just saying that hardcore is just as good and even better at a harmonical level. It's just the difference of fields what generates all this reciprocal and constant bashing. To each its own.
@Saturdizzle As a fellow guitarist, no, hardcore is not harmonically complex. I like it (real hardcore, not that melodic hardcore/metalcore/deathcore stuff), but it's extremely simple music and usually doesn't offer a challenging listen. Compare this to bands like Emperor that utilize medieval composition techniques and Last Sacrament that explore microtonality. You're right about Meshuggah being rhythmically rather than harmonically complex, though.
@Saturdizzle the thing we hate the most no offense to you cuz you seem like you have your shit together, but its hc fans. metalheads hate them. they come in and act like they know everything and like thery own the fuckin show. when metal has been around since 1970. i live in the worst part. i live in memphis and we has assholes at our shows. they go to metalcore showsand even death metal shows JUST to start shit w/ ppl. and hardcore dance on top of moshing
