  • I will not forgive GM for what it did to SAAB...

  • Prius doesn't explode :D

  • Comment removed

  • @Swagdaddy777 yeah and doesn't cost the tax payers $250,000 per car

  • Yes I like it. BUT it can only fit 4 people I would like 5. And the deck has to many my buttons! That would be hard to do some thing while driving :/

  • -And your doing something for the home team......Yeah I think that is key in this "objective" review......

-Premium feel....eh an american car with premium feel.....woman please...

  • @MogensPeralta its actually german, Opel design and engineered this vehicle.

  • One of the key things that makes me mistrust GM is that they were responsible for selling the patents on NiMH batteries to Chevron, which set back the electric vehicle industry incredibly. The NiMH battery was close to the point where it would make electric vehicles directly compeitive with internal combustion. As a result of GM's move, all electric vehicle production ground to a halt..and there was no choice but to try to work with lithium ion. This was pure evil....to block such an industry.

  • The average commuter travels 50 miles a day? The EV1, 11 to 12 years ago, did 60 miles to a charge.

  • @SSparks555

Yea? and when the EV1 runs out, it slows to a stop. When the volt runs out, it switches to gas meaning you can go for thousands of miles. Also I easily get 60-70 miles to a charge on my volt.

  • @ACEDcomputers yeah you get 60-70 miles going down hill right ? lmao

  • I would be interested in an electric car like this. The volt is very nice design and the interior, console and everything is nice looking... but cheap which would be fine if it wasn't so unaffordable. It the States it's 31600 which is fine but here in Canada where are dollar is pretty much par, it's 41600 starting. How can t be 10000 dollars more here. GM you will fail in Canada. Us tax payers n Canada bailed you out in the recession, and now this in return.

  • @canascot02 you are a bullshit

  • @RichardJoash how so?

  • hahaha ur a sales man u don't care about that car at all

  • Japan and America have played their cards. Just wait for the Germans now.

  • @priyam9015 they did. they made a half million dollar porsche

  • @priyam9015 what about the hybrid S class or the hybrid Touareg. those are both trumped by the diesel versions of the same models.

  • this is a nice car...hope the government give lesser tax for the environment friendly car so the people will patronize it fully and we are save from glbal climate change which we are experiencing now....not to mention the polution and lungs failure due to carbon dioxide emmited by engine...proelectric car advocate should raise this issue to the congres to lessen the cost due to aditional tax

  • Tesla

  • @byma99 Volt, Leaf, Karma, Roadster.

  • Absolute garbage.

  • @GayGamer21 you are a bullshit and a garbage

  • @GayGamer21 you are a absolute garbage, a troll and a bullshit

  • @RichardJoash What's that you're insecure and online bullying people?

  • @finnirazor A $750 electric bill would be about 6,000Kwh. You would have to charge the car 20 times a day to use that much energy. Coal, natural gas, and nuclear power are much cheaper than oil/gas. In my scenario i spent 1/10 the amount i use to on filling up at the pump.

  • @finnirazor average cost of energy in US in 2007 was 10.65 cents per KWH, and the Volt hold 16KWH. If you drained the battery every day, that's about $50 a month on electricity...and the average distance that the average North American person drives everyday is approx. 40 miles, which is the range of the battery for the Volt... Where did your figures come from?

  • I think some people are missing the point when they compare this car to a Prius. This is an electric car. Electric cars have provide an experience that can't be described in a video. Very few reviews explain the pure linear acceleration. Also much lower Mx costs and issues.

  • Turbo Diesel > hybrids > electric

  • Def not the vehicle of choice in case of zombie apocalypse ... 8 hours is an eternity

  • Is Holden getting these?

  • now thats a car

  • Great review!

  • $36,000 Isn't that bad considering you get dual climate control and heated seats standard. A bare bones Avalanche will cost you the same anyway. I looks a lot better then some plastic Prius and is bigger too.

  • GO VOLT!!! So it is better than the prius in looks. Also in gas milage as it gets 95 city and 90 highway. Oh did i say it looks better!!! it doesnt look like some gay ass peice of shit car.. and it is well put together. Plus people hating on americans shutup cause you know what kind of electric car company we have TESLA an amazing electric sports car brand so suck it..

  • Volt SUCK!

The Volt is for people who get a GED and were a suite to their $10hr Job.

Prius is for people who are confident enough about themselves , got a healthy bank account, a good dam job, good friends and big enough balls not to give a fack about the "wanna be cool".

    THEY ARE COOL.

Save Money, Save the Plane and Drive the latest Car Technology around.

True, Not a Ferrari BUT, I cruise from MA to Miami on I95 many times at 120MPH and over 2,500 miles for about $160 bucks. :D

  • @irafael8080 you are a bullshit

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE FOR THIS CAR! IT'S LIKE JUST WHEN THEY GET TO MAKE A SIMPLE CAR NOT EXPENSIVE ON PARTS, THEY SUCK THE LAST DROP OF BLOOD. YOU CAN'T FUCKING BREATH WITH ALL THEIR CHARGES. MOTHER FUCKERS THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY. BASTARDS HOW THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSE TO SAVE THE PLANET AT THESE FUCKING RATES. FORTY ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS? FUCK YOU. GUESS YOUR CHILDREN DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MANSIONS!

  • @KnowHowDOCTOR you are a bullshit

  • prius is for fags... sorry no offense but it is

  • ELECTRIC CARS ARE TERRIFIC, PROVIDED YOU LIVE AT THE GOLF COURSE.

    END OF STORY.

  • best fuel effecient car all around to date... anyone in denial needs to do research. It was Motor Trend's 2011 car of the year for a reason. I could go on for days about a volt. It truely does show you what GM can do if there is motivation.

  • sales are so poor the dealers are selling them to themselves to avial the $7.5K tax credit for their pockets

  • @emforty2 LOL thats not true you have been listening to Fox news lies. What was happening is that Chevy dealers are posting Volt demo cars which are NOT for sale and are used on cars.com as a bait and switch. The reason you where seeing some many used cars was because the demo cars are suppose to be used but they are not for sale. Therefore they shouldn't be online like they are for sale because its illegal for dealers to sale those cars.

  • Prius customers had to wait over 3 month even after Toyota stop selling to fleets and other companies? Or when the used Prius cost more than new because of the 3+ month wait Toyota could not keep up with customers demand?

WOW, gas prices just went up again, GOV. $7,500 tax break and still don't help the Volt sell. WOW, VOLT sucks.~40miles (more like 30mpg real) electric and 30mpg gas don't help.

The freaking Volt looks like any other $15k car. Cheap shit. Are people paying cash for it?

  • @irafael8080 you are a bullshit

  • My previous comment got cut short.....suffice it to say, my Volt is a fantastic car, and until you actually drive one , or see one in person before you criticize it, I suggest you take a test drive first...the car is truly amazing and fun to drive.

  • I've been driving my 2011 Volt since December and have almost 6000 miles on it. My averaged fuel use is 139 MPG's. Because I get around 45 miles on the charged battery, a

  • It kinda looks like a stretched out prius. But it is a decent idea

  • This car is beautiful!

  • all americans should use their credit cards and get one. if you can't get a credit card, just raise your debt ceiling.

  • Good review by the way.

  • I LOVE the way it looks. Finally, American car makers aren't making me yawn.

  • any fucking car, ANY FUCKING CAR, that needs oil to run is not a fucking pure electric car and ford chevy to call this p.o.s. electric is an insult to real fucking electric cars like the telsa which can do circles around this crappy car

  • I just wish it was at around 30g...I would love to own one, but I don't know if I would spend that much on a car. Especially on a first Model. Right now the Prius is good on the price, and mileage, but hopefully by the time I get home, maybe the Volt will be down on price. and BTW, if you on here and crying on how the Prius or Volt looks, you definitely need to look in the mirror XD

  • idk about the volt. Still think its conceptual, especially with the high price. Wait a year and a whole bunch of electric cars will be out competing against eachother.

  • @Block2Productionsmov Agreed, I'm definitly not buying a Volt. Its expensive but its a start.

  • too expensive, not worth it

  • i like the center console looks like really good quality plastic and shiny and its WHITE!!

  • drove it the other day and i got to say. holy crap, this car feels like you're driving an ACTUAL car. it was comfortable, the design was great, couldn't find a single negative thing to say. HOWEVER. 40 grand is a lil steep yo

  • i dont like it. I would much rather have a nissan leaf. Cheaper, better looking, in and out, and its just overall better quality

  • @electricwonderbars1 leaf is better quality? hum not according to all of the auto world because they put the volt at the top of their list not just for ev's but for all cars. never heard that from no one who driven both cars.

  • @lilgman191 bad Grammer much...

  • @electricwonderbars1 ouch good come back, btw don't ignore facts Volt is better

  • @electricwonderbars1 Poor spelling much? Grammar. Ironic, isn't it?

  • this car is garage.. hybrids are a scam as far as i am concerned do one of the other. Don't do both.

  • @AutoJunkieMan Your comment is irrelevant to this video. The hybrids your taking about are the priuses and the insight. they are completely different to the volt hybrid. This car you plug in to an outlet and drive. If you run out of juice, it has a backup gasoline engine. So basically, if you drive about 50 miles a day or less for regular stuff then you will almost never pay for gas.

  • @AutoJunkieMan That's what hater say who never driven the car? Everyone who drives it swears by it, in fact no other single model year car won more awards than the Volt, EVER. GM gives free test drives, drive one and see if your tone change.

  • @lilgman191 I don't drive these hybrid vehicles for a reason. Simply because there not efficent enough for me. I personaly won't drive one ever. I need a car that has enough power to pass on the highway, and when im merging into traffic enough power to not only get me into traffic but make me feel like a rockstar doing it. Immature? Yeah but you should have a big goofy smile on your face when you put your foot down, and I can't see this happening here. Besides i hate automatic..

  • @AutoJunkieMan I never heard anyone complain about the Volt performance, Electric motors are superior to gas motors and more efficient. GM could have made it do everything you want in a car, only problem is price. In only 3 years from now the Volt is expected to be up to 7k cheaper get more than double the EV range and better mpg in Extended range mode.

  • @AutoJunkieMan

"I don't drive these hybrid vehicles for a reason. Simply because there not efficent enough for me. I personaly won't drive one ever. I need a car that has enough power to pass on the highway,"

Well you know little about the Volt then, which does just that. The Prius and Lexus cars do not hang about.

  • A customer of mine bought one! he regrets it like there's no tomorrow ! What an embarrassing piece of crap ! and this is no B.S !

  • @vid009 It sure sounds like B.S.

  • @vid009 Your comment is b.s, so stop making up stuff.

  • @lilgman191 ... this is no BS my friend !

  • I'm buying a Volt and trading in my Prius b/c I want to support GM and because it's a plug in. But let me tell you something- all this trash talking about the Prius is BS. The Prius is actually MUCH more roomy than the Volt, especially in the back- so when you say the Volt is roomier and more like a "real" car, you simply don't know what you're talking about.

Again, I'm getting my Volt in two days and looking forward to it, but don't shovel crap our way regarding the Prius.

  • /watch?v=y3V3trzcKQk

  • so wait its impossible for there to be good looking hybrids?

  • 0-60 about 8 secs not bad for an EV

  • This looks good.

  • I dont know this cars generation are the same for me...similar designs everywhere.

  • Hopefully Chevy will allow other car companies to use their technology (for a fee) because tbh I don't trust Chevy reliability one bit.

  • @xuimod That's an absolute joke.

  • @xuimod well i think the other car manufactures will come up with something similar. They've been testing these types of cars for years. don't think they'll need GM's technology because the technology is widely available already. How come they haven't start selling EVs? Dunno...

  • Prius blows

  • quick question

if youre going on a 300 mile trip. after the first 40 or so miles when the gas engine starts and it begins to charge the battery, when the battery is charged during the trip does it switch BACK to the electric and stops using gas?

btw this is a very nice looking car

one downer though, its made by chevy, i suspect the reliability wont be so good.

  • @bradyischamp The generator chases the power consumption of the car. It intentionally leaves the battery mostly-empty when you're running on gas. Power made by running the generator is more expensive than energy from the grid, so it only makes what it needs to run and doesn't store very much of it, so you have an empty battery ready to take on a full charge of cheap grid electricity at the other end.

  • hi @bradyischamp: The volt doesn't charge back up after it transitions to starting the engine. At that point it operates *sort of* like a normal hybrid, which don't really change the battery charge very much while you're driving around. The car does this because if it charged the battery up with the engine, it would end up with worse fuel economy than if you hadn't and waited to charge off a wall :-) I really like the car too, there's one outside my apartment right now.

  • I'd like one, but it looks like I'm going to have to wait for all the celebrities to get theirs first. When will they be in the showroom? I don't want to be on a waiting list and I'm not famous or anything. I just want to just go the dealer and drive off with one.

  • I was very sceptic about this car but ive changed my mind. Seriously this is a good looking, futuristic, a bit Frech design i'd even say. Prius should be really worried. Its going to be very very popular here in Europe.

Well done Chevy!!! Keep it up!

  • I would get a Volt except for a few drawbacks. The engine requires premium gasoline which is costly. And if you exceed the miles on battery charge, you only get 30-40 MPG when the generator is turning. I will probably wait for the technology to advance.

  • chevy paid him to say that ...

  • 1 million prius sold in america 2 million world wide

the volt is a flop that requires a $7500 taxpayer bailout

btw its not an electric car its a hybrid

  • Really nice car! Better than Prius! Prius is not that attractive unlike the Volt! Love the interior!

  • This is the future.

  • A true game changer would consist of Ford, GM and Volkswagen selling the high MPG vehicles in the US that the UK never stopped enjoying. Try typing in .co.uk instead of .com at the end of your favorite automaker (except for Chrysler, they don't care about fuel economy in any country it seems).

VW makes a 'Bluemotion' vehicle that is rated at nearly 90 mpg, but no one would want that here, right?

  • @cubeOfat Imperial UK gallons are alot smaller than US Gallons, also the EU EPA is alot nicer than the US EPA which is why the Prius only gets 50 mpg in US while the EXACT same car gets 60 MPG in EU. But the bluemotion is a efficient vehicle it isn't as good to drive as a Prius or Volt because of the changes they have done to make it efficient, it is a diesel, the 74.3mpg VW Golf BlueMotion in fact. But nice accomplishment, the Chevy Cruze ECO gets 58 US MPG with the same technices, but on gas.

  • @CDTbossy "Imperial UK gallons are alot smaller than US Gallons, also the EU EPA is alot nicer than the US EPA which is why the Prius only gets 50 mpg in US while the EXACT same car gets 60 MPG in EU."

Correct, Imperial gallons are smaller, so to get the adjusted US MPG, multiply the UK listed mileage by .83.

The Cruze diesel is rated at 61.4 mpg highway (extra-urban), is 51.1 mpg US.

The original UK Prius COMBINED mileage is 72.43 MPG (UK), 60.31 (US).

The VW Golf with is 67 US MPG.

  • @cubeOfat That's why hybrids are not worth it in Europe. Just get diesel, about the same fuel economy and more fun to drive.

  • The front looks exactly like a civic.

  • Yeah, that's nice. $32 grand for a hybrid. Why would I pay more for a hybrid?

Now, wouldn't it be nice if Chevy brought the UK version of the Cruze to the US. Getting 50 mpg in a car that costs less than a Prius would impress me.

  • @cubeOfat It wouldn't sell much in the US because UK version probably has less horsepowers(I'm guessing because European version usually have smaller engines) and Americans don't want to compromise on horsepower. Even in a hybrid Americans complain about the performance. That's why Prius is not as fuel economic as it used to. It used to get 60 mpg city, but Americans complained it had bad performance so now it has better performance but gets 10 mpg less.

  • @imercana It has a top speed of 130 mph and does 0-60 in 8.7 seconds...

  • @imercana "The 150 horsepower diesel, by contrast has ample torque and very high gearing, meaning strong acceleration and relaxed motorway driving, even with the automatic transmission, which is a good six-speeder. The official fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are a bit behind those for the latest European diesels, which is consistent with the slightly disappointing “real world” mpg figures recorded by the Cruze's own on-board computer which were typically in the low-to mid-forties."

  • HOLY SHIT 40 GRAND,I WILL ABLE TO BUY A HOUSE FOR THAT BY THE END OF THIS YEAR

  • @EDTHEWATERGUY really? do you live in a tin can?

  • @panamera

Actually you can buy a house (not a tin one ) right now in south Florida for less than $40,000.

You can buy a house in Detroit for $5,000.

And the housing market is no where near the bottom yet

  • @EDTHEWATERGUY hmm where i live. you cant get a 1 bedroom, falling apart house in the worst neighbourhood for less than $250,000. but in all honesty. 40grand isnt THAT expensive for a car when you consider a base model audi is like 50 grand. just for the audi badge.

  • @EDTHEWATERGUY Yeah, if you want a house that's falling apart. Those houses are not even liveable, at least the ones in Detroit are not. I'm guessing it's the same for Florida because $40,000 is too cheap for a house in Florida.

  • why are you fuckers hating it looks MUCH better then a damn prius and not to mention the prius used to be fucking expensive give it time and it should get cheaper, im hoping that this car gets gm up and going again so they can make the next corvettes and camaros better and going

  • @tuugfo I would never trust an american car, i have had american cars and have learned my lesson! Toyota's are the most reliable in the world, still and that is why it sells like it does. The prius looks great, runs on 50mpg and is coming out with a plug in next year...only 14 miles on electric but toyota will increase that in the coming years.

The Volt has much worse MPG than the Prius! SO after electric runs out, you still got an unreliable american car with average MPG

  • @imercana haaaaa!!! i know right, true because it's alot bigger, sexier, roomy, comfortable, safer and NOT as fucking ugly as the wimpy prius. but if it was a toyota it would still have the flaws that toyota cars has always had and it prob wouldn't be what it is if it was a toyota, SO THANK GOD! that a car like this (electric/ hybrid, fuel efficeint or whatever) is finnaly american and not uuuuugggllyyyy!! and is worth it

  • @planetvicecity Dude the problem is people love hating on American cars. If GM or Ford had a re-call as big as Toyota did in 2010, they would be done forever but people love Toyota and accept their every fault. They think American cars=garbage and Japanese cars=last forever.

  • @imercana Very true

  • @planetvicecity Priuses are sexy. Unless you live in america where it looks tiny and fragile in comparison.

  • Only IDIOTS with more money than sense would buy this car!

  • @Citrusharvester volt is new tech. hardly available so it is pricey. It too soon to judge it

  • Good looking car, especially for a chevy, and I'm digging the overall concept, but $40,000 is a fucking joke (as are any form of subsidy for all you Obama fans out there =P). They missed the mark by about 15 grand imo.

  • Wow 20 years ago they had an electric car that was exacly like this

  • I bet if this was Toyota people wouldn't hate on it as much.

  • @imercana: I don't know why. Because Toyota is garbage this day and age. They are turning into a daily recall company.

  • Volt looks like _ _ _ _! $40,000 really? For that pile of junk. Just bought a 2011 Optima for under $25,000 LOADED and its huge compared to that tiny thing! 24mpg city and 34mpg hwy. You don't have be a math wiz to run the numbers and figure out the economics.

$7,500 Tax credit, Government is giving my money a way on this pile! NOBAMA!

  • @Citrusharvester Seriously? A pile of junk? GM put the volt into production to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and make the environment cleaner for everyone. Uncle Sam made it cheaper to encourage peeps to buy it and what do people like you do? complain about it. Volt is way more efficient than your altima. People don't have any respect for their own country now and making life harder for everyone. GM is a new company and so is ford chrysler.

  • @TheToyotahater It may reduce our dependence on foreign oil but not foreign parts the volt does not have all American parts. Uncle Sam is using my money to try to make the volt competitive, so sorry if it ticks me off! Look guy, if the big 3 made a car they could stand behind (10 years of warranty) like the car I just bought, then I would buy from them. The Volt is not the answer so give it up. I can buy 2 cars for the price of one volt.

  • @TheToyotahater Here are the numbers:

    7yrs. @ 15,000 mi. per year = 105,000 mi.

    Volt pure electric mode = $4,158 @ $ 0.11 per kWh

    Volt on Premium Gas = $9,583 @ $ 3.14 per Gallon

    Hyundai Elantra, Gas = $9,989 @ $3.14 per Gallon

    Volt retail = $41,000

    Elantra retail = $15,000 to $20,000

    And the Elantra is BIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Citrusharvester: Thats not completely true. You can easily get the price of this car down to 32,000 just by simply using the program they have set up for it. Secondly, with the Volt, if you are a person whose work commute is only about 10 miles one way. Then you can get by without using gas at all in this car.

  • @V8Supercar1 Yeah using $7,500 of TAX PAYER's money to bring it down from $41,000. Just like the goverment subsidy for ethanol that is driving the cost of food up.

  • @Citrusharvester don't misunderstand, the volt travels for 40+ miles, then you charge it up overnight. Youll hardly use gas, unless you travle very far distances a day

  • @Citrusharvester You're so right.

Think about it, why not save the other $15k as a fuel allowance? LOL

  • @kkjgg112391 Because gas prices keep going up. When gas prices hit $10, this car will be useful.

  • @imercana The point is--it hasn't even gotten that high yet.... still pricey.

  • why buy a volt? when the cr z makes better mpg, great reliability and looks better.

however if don't like electric cars then there are other alternatives like hyundays gdi

    or vw diesel cars

  • @ozwld222 oh idk because the rear seat leg room is half a centimeter

  • "It's the moment of truth"...You're a GM bondholder and just got screwed?

  • If you get this car , you better be prepared to replace the batteries AFTER the warranty ends = BIG EXPENSE!!

  • @shannontheguy after the warranty expires the battery would have 75% life chevy already thought that through :p

  • SHUT UP YOU American idiots. Try 8 bucks a gallon for gas and you would think this car is friggen cool. Chevy Volt rocks and you will see that too within 2 years you will be above 5 greenbacks per gallon and you will come to your senses. Not common sense because that no longer exists in the US.

  • This car looks like the 1995 to 1999 Chysler / Dodge sebring.

  • the world's most boring person in a boring car wow how exciting that is i and at $40,000 it is horrible value and it dosnt look sporty in one bit and doing 80-90mph hell any car can go that speed and be stable and to all those enviromentallists yes a 1.4 engine with a ton worth of batteries is very enviromentally friendly cause everyone knows battery acid is good for trees and flowers

  • Why does every review show this car coasting at like 5mph? Jesus i could walk as fast as that car can go.

  • @Greendude33 Is that why you have to plug it in for 8 hours? Moron.

  • You are a total moron if you're buying the Volt to "save the environment." If that is the case, you're likely one of those people that really don't get that the overall ecological damage of all these hybrids is on par with a Land Rover Discovery...from 1990, much less. If you're trying to save gas, its a great car I'm sure!

  • @sacdude20 Considering what's going to happen to oil prices in a few years it's pretty wise to buy one.

  • Too expensive. Electricity is NOT free. And far less 'clean' than other alternatives, including gasoline. And just another reason for electric companies to continue raising electrical rates - like we don't pay far too much already. Thanks Chevy, for bringing what happened with fuel prices to electricity as well. Jack offs.

  • @jneedee

"Thanks Chevy, for bringing what happened with fuel prices to electricity as well"

Yes, because we all know the supply of gasoline is endless and we will be driving gasoline powered vehicles 60 years from now.

  • Comment removed

  • ew. it still using belts???

  • Never buy a 1st gen.

  • Had a Toyo Supra, 50K replaced the rack/pinion,timing belt,55k,car lost cylinder.

Had an Audi S5, tranny problems, never remedied,MMI electronics always a prob.

BMW M3, constant electrical probs, high maint.

Had a Buick century, 100K+, replaced battery.

Dream car WAS 911, but read the blogs on the 996-997, M6 engine failures, IMS failures, Porsche NOT cooperating w/owners. Kept hush hush by Porsche, maybe going on 4 a decade.

I will stay w/American and tolerate the plastic.

  • Can't wait to drive it. I have to to admit that 10 years ago I didn't want to buy American(though I did), but after having a job that lets me get behind the wheel of every single car on the market and in some cases after they have some miles on them, I limited my likes to mostly American made vehicles. In fact after selling a Mustang with 260,000miles(all original, two clutches though) I decided on a 2010 Malibu. I can assure you GM does in fact give you one of the best cars for the money.

  • I liked the look of this car and it's method of using a gas engine to charge the batteries when they get low. However... The gas engine is way to big to charge the batteries, it could be a 500cc and it would still charge OK using much less gas. The car only runs for 40 miles? This must have been deliberate since you should be able to do around 100 miles on Li-ion batteries. The EV-1 which they produced then killed 10 years ago had a range of100 miles

  • @djburke135 Part of the reason the Volt only gets 40 miles is the way that Chevy cycles the battery. They think their approach will lead to the battery lasting longer. They have a very sophisticated battery management system on the Volt. For those people who drive less than 50 miles on most days, which is most people, it won't matter that the Volt can't drive 100 miles on battery power alone.

  • GM wants you to use GAS. This car is just a stunt to shut the green lobby up. You do not need a 1.4litre petrol engine to charge the batteries. A much smaller engine would do it and that would use much less gas. I'd be impressed if the range was 100 miles on battery then another 4-500 miles with the gas engine running the electric motor. All perfectly possible.

  • @djburke135 1.4 liters is tiny. What do you want? A Lawnmower to power the batteries? You need some power and torque.

  • NICE BUT ABOUT 20YEARS BEHIND !! I personally wouldn't trade my proven japanese prious for this!.American cars suck!period.. they drop the ball years ago, never thinking on their quality but always motivated by the all mighty dollar. An we the consumers kept falling for their crappy cars for years.I'TS going to take several generations of proven quality of volts to convince the smart car buyers,I sencirely hope so anyway.FULL us once shame on you , full us twice shame on us all.!

  • @thikabouit Yea, I personally wouldn't take an opinion seriously from someone who can't even put a sentence together. What is with that last sentence? Are you trying to be funny or are you just a retard?

  • @danrch3 Thank you so much for my free gramar check!but American cars still SUCK! is blinded saps like you who srtill continue buying American junk just because grandpa did, what keeps the American car industry shoveling crappy cars down our throats.lets see whos the retard when my Toyota with over 180thousand miles pasess youre American car on the side of the road, you poor thing you must be an American car dealer, that or a bad school teacher with bad car taste!don't forget my check!lol

  • @thikabouit Again, you are an idiot because you assume that I have an american car. In fact, I have an Acura that does not have 180k because I am not a broke piece of shit like you. So again, your statement is flawed and you are a retard.

  • @danrch3 oops my mistake my toyota has actually 195 thousand miles,an broke you say? far from it buddy... the fact that I invested in a toyota has allowed me to stash more nuts in my winter chest!an temper temper no need to get so unraveled over shitty cars buddy! You have a merry Christmass an a Happy New Year ok, oh an I would wash that mouth of yours with soap before you kiss youre wife or mother this Christmass!!An yes they still "SUCK"!!:)

  • New Toyota's are just plain cheap. Sure, they might be somewhat reliable, but then again, I have had multiple GM vehicles that have far surpassed the 200K mark. Personally, I drive a 2007 Honda with 100K miles on the odo, and I just hate the car. My 1997 chevy lumina had many qualities that foreign cars cannot acheive (such as road noise and ride quality). Do not trash mouth GM until you drive their newer autos!!! The only reason Toyota can sell cars is because they offer huge incentives.

  • @kaehal01 My mom had a new Opel Astra before (4years ago), it was in maintanance at least once a month and after 3 months of ownership the plastic interior just broke into little pieces alone due to sunlight, this was the first and last GM vehicle our family has ever bought.

I myself drive a 16 year old 3series BMW Cabrio now and in the 2 years I own that car I only had to go to maintanance once, and it wasn't even anything significant and evrything just feels better.

  • The design is just mind blowing

  • Sick of hearing about "tax-payers." Instead of that, why don't you think of the impact this car is going to have in the future of automobiles.
