  • i was thinking...having an engine for each wheel...does that mean that if one of the engines fails that wheel will be locked and you will have a really nasty accident?

  • @TozeDT Do not act-a-fool. That was obviously though of.

  • @JonTheChron i'm sorry if i ask pertinent questions...and i bet you're an audi engineer to know that right? ^^

  • @TozeDT I don't really think it's a pertinent question! It's an electric motor, why would it jam? Its basically a shaft between 2 bearings

  • @JonTheChron see? there's the answer i was hoping for, thanks (:

  • they do realize they are still burning fossil fuels to generate enough power to charge the damn thing right?

  • You have to start some where to initiate a proprietary and and least we have a new start. lets hope they don't kill the new line of electric cars because in the next year or two I will buy new if It can save me trips to the pump. It cost me 47$ at the pump a week soon to be over 50 that's 200$ a month I put forward to these 40,000$ cars. But lets hope we get more competition to lower these prices. I also noticed the government offers a big tax cut for new e-car buyers.

  • It's sad how in 25 more years when you need a oil change you this have to download one..... Yeah i'm goin to kinp driving my scooter thank you very much.

  • @heartlessvietboy

5-10 years?, ok examples. Nissan say the next battery in the Leaf will have a 200 mile range using nmc. Available in around 5 years. Beyond that we should see increased capacities from the like of silicone nanowires, maybe lithium air in 5+ years. Does that not seem like a reasonable time frame? Yes it could take many more to reach 10 times + capacity that some of these techonologies can Theoretically provide. But they will get there! Do you not agree?

  • the world won't gonna stop from producing cars !!!

  • what if one of the motors malfunctioned while on the highway.

  • @JeansForLife : the same thing that would happen when a petrol powered car runs out of gas or throws a rod while driving down the highway...that was a dumb ass question, lol.

  • @jayjaylen75 a car running out of gas doesnt have the same effect as a motor on one of the wheels (motors) malfunctioning.

  • holy shit this car looks niiiiiiiiiice!! i think girls would be falling over each other for a ride in this

  • Do your bit for saving the planet by NOT BUYING ANOTHER CAR!

  • If wealthy people want to "save the planet" they won't spend $200,000 on a car, they'll plant a garden. If they want to spend $200,000 on a car to get chicks, I understand that.

  • Batteries in 5-10 years will not be a problem as far as range is concerned, however the next problem, depending if you think it's a problem, will be charging. The greater the capacity the battery, the longer it takes to charge. Lithium air batteries, silicon nano wire batteries, all with great potential. With up to 40 times the range forecast, but will be probably be less due to peoples needs being less than 4000 miles range! leaf 100 miles x40 imagine that!

  • 5-10 years??? A five year difference is a long time. That has got to be the worst approximation ever!! Are you kidding me?

  • odd rims but damn that car looks nice

  • what about us non-wealthy people?

  • Fuck that what if the battery dies on one when that Final Destination right there im sticking with my Bentley

  • @jordanhelmz ya im sure u have a bentley homo

  • Ghetto rims.

  • hahaha if you have a million dollars to spend, a million dollar electric sports car is NOT the best way to save the environment.

  • Future car ... no fossil fuels !!

  • Finally an electric car that is not fugly (except by the rims). =/

  • Do a YouTube search for: 640 hp Eliica 8 wheel drive Li-ion powered Electric Vehicle 370 km/h

  • 100 spoke rims of a caprice ......

  • We want you to save the plant in the form of paying us a ton of money. hahah Good thinking Audi!

  • Fuck the rich bastards. I hate these pricks saying save the planet and blah blah blah, but its physically impossible to obtain anything with decency for the price. i mean jesus christ who the hell wants to drive a prius? If you are going to build a green car make it look good and affordable. Not ugly and affordable or nice and unaffordable. Until then v8 all the way

  • @Texarmageddon v8 all the way and make your diesel smoke like a freight train!

  • またこの形ですか

    アウディさん飽きましたよ

  • i have one issue about all of this electric car stuff and that is that the car makers are so obsessed about making them into super cars but no one is going to spend that amount of money for a electric car, y dont they put this tech in regular sedans and economy type cars not in super type cars just to show that electric is almost just as good as a gas car like tesla ya they are making a sedan but it is more of a lux. car they need to put put the tech in everyday normal cars for 30k or less

  • Because it's cheaper and easier to do it yourself.

  • @blafat - Cheve Volt...

  • Another thing to remember about electric motors is the torque curve. You can get max torque before the motor has even completed a single revolution. Thats max torque from zero rpm, which means you don't always need a clutch or gearbox, or any heavy mechanical transmission at all.

  • Lol. I don't think you need tcs on an electric AWD car.

  • funny how quoup1 can just say electric engines are weak..electric cars are fast...proven in ?topgear(electric car vs. GT500 and this quite old video i found in youtube(electric car vs Corvette)..

  • weak electric motors? electric motors will outperform an ICE any day of the week...problem is providing the electrical power with batteries and capacity....case and point? Mitsubishi's MIEK EVO - 4 in-wheel electric motors each delivering 300 ft./lbs of torque...problem with that car? battery capacity....

  • @gtiguy727 Sure a couple AA's will work....

  • electric weak engines? ha do some homework man yea the are stupid but not weak

  • Then look around and do some research. They've been better for years. You're going off of obsolete information.

  • i love the muscle cars but ... .. wow !!

  • Oh how genius. Make rich people think they are the shit in there new car at the same time saving the planet!! My goodness the lies keep on costing money. Save the planet.. the planet will eat your children before we destroy or alter it.

  • They should even go as far as to charge the battery when the brakes are applied using the motors as generators that would be really efficient

  • @jasoncampagna83 ur right, that would be great. anyway, with 4 motors, u wont get far on 1 charge.

  • there is an audi electric car that does that, i believe its called the recharge, i'm pretty sure its an audi, but not 100%.

  • actually no, i just remembered it's a volvo. the volvo recharge when stopping uses that energy to recharge the cars main battery.

  • That is called kinetic energy regeneration... The F1 drivers are using it while stoping to charge the energy for a momentary boost of power...

  • wow, i thought that tech was recent. how long have F1 drivers been using that?

  • so what i got the name wrong doesnt mean its a poor comment i corrected myself. lol.

  • damn rich people get to "save the planet" in style with nice ballin' looking cars

  • Very good design !!!

  • yea that's right man, is nice but ''psychogundamjavelin is correct to. the car can crash if one of the motors stop:/:/

  • if a plane can fly with one engine down I'm pretty sure that a car can drive with either the other three or simply the just the front or rear motors depending on which motor was to go. In order for it to cause a crash, as you say, one of the motors would have to cease up completely. this desing is great because driveshafts and other friction in todays cars make them very inefficient.

  • 4 wheels and 1 motor in each wheel, is that right?

  • Awesome design! Reminds me of R8. But the motor-per-wheel system is strange: what if one of the motors suddenly stops working? One of the wheels stops getting power, and... car crash)))

  • do you actualy realize trains have electric motors in many cases 1/ea wheel,do you realy think they didn't thought of "what if 1 of the motor stops?"

  • i am shure thay would put a fail point on it like the axel would break before it acutally did cause an accident something to stop the wheel from locking up

  • beautiful car. the rims r sick

  • wouldn't having a motor per wheel eat up more power since its all connected to 1 battery? and on a side note, where did the news on the R8 being discontinued? i can't find that anywhere

  • This actually isn't new, this sort of design has been labeled as a "whispering wheel" design.

There is no need for differentials and no drivetrain or transmission.

Electric cars are so far ahead of gas cars in design and efficiency (w/ this setup 100% HP goes into the wheels) the only problem are the batteries.

Anyone can make a 1000+ HP car (with insane torque) for $50K...without batteries. The cost and lack of capacity of modern batteries is the only reason we're not driving them.

  • Horrid.

Wheels and grill look like something a poshy grandma might want to wear.

  • so nice wow

  • bad ass Audi, I like it!

  • i think its fuck bad ass

  • wheels and grill gotta go.....

  • change wheels and grill and it'd be so tight

  • that r8 e-tron looks damn sexy, but im going to miss the r8 =(

  • Love the car, but if it has to replace the R8 it should at least have the same performance like 0-100 km/h in less than 4 sec... otherwise it's one of the greatest concepts since tesla

  • that car looks very good, except for those wheels and grill.

  • i think the interio is pretty cool with the moving dash board and the vents in the side are cool but i would never buy this car if it went out on the markets

  • NO plz don't even put it on the market. Audi just tried to it pimp it up but it didn't work plus it looks so small beside him plz just give it to the lepricons. Stay with the R8 its still better

  • I dont care for saving the planet and going green, but that concept looks nice.

  • I like how that guy said "pimped up" LOL

  • but the r8 is badass

  • did you hear the terrible news that they're going to put the r8 out of production

  • Gay

  • nice

  • Dislike the rims

  • @andrespcp

    NO NO NO U B H8NNNN!!!

(sorry, just felt like being ghetto for a sec. I can see these on a New York Escalade for some reason...)

  • @andrespcp are you kidding? the rims fit perfectly with this type of model, otherwise if you put different rims then the whole car would look weird

  • @andrespcp you are right, but probably it is very aerodynamic.

other rims would miss the point of the car.

but yes it is ugly as shit

  • @andrespcp Wheels are sic, BTW.

  • This guys hands are like kissing eachother throughout this entire vid

  • that is nasty to look at

  • In my opinion she(he/it) is beautiful!

  • maybe, but they are playing off the R8 too much. Interior is questionable.

  • Wow. That's REALLY sexy.

  • Toyota has a big head start. Good luck Audi, but they don't need to save the planet. It does just fine with or without man's help. We can stop believing the global warming/climate change scam now. We, on the Right have been saying this for some time now and now the e-mails are backing us up from those who want to hide the truth from the public.

  • nice rim's if you black.

  • @sirberner12 lmfao!

  • I'm sure Snoop Dogg was eyeing them.......

  • do me a fovor and O.D. on some crack.

  • Comment removed

  • cheaper or more expensive than the r8?
