I think the trackpad difference between the 900 and 900a is actually hardware and not just firmware - I read elsewhere that the 900a doesn't have hardware support for multi-touch gestures because it's a different brand of trackpad. I guess this is a cost-cutting measure to keep the price down with the upgraded processor, like with the SSD speed you mentioned? Anyway, thanks for your excellent review. I have had a 900 for about 1.5 years which I run linux on and use for coding and physics calcs.

I have this eee pc for a year now and I am using it everyday. Checking e-mail, skype and web browsing, that is what I need comuter for. Only think I want to improve is battery life, but maybe I shoud buy the newer Eee PCs. I feel nostalgic using the 9 inch netbook, why are netbooks getting bigger and bigger , soon they will reach a normal notebook size. Keep up the great work Jkk! Love your every single video!

That is a great value. I'd go for it. And once you get it, I'd install eeebuntu instead of the version that it comes with. Trust me, eeebuntu can do everything xp can on these machines, as the main thing you'd need windows for is gaming and photoshop - which this system can't handle. Google eeebuntu to find out where to get it and how to install it without a cd.

Yeah, would work just fine. If you are using Linux on it, there is a Linux version of Limewire. And then instead of iTunes you can use gtk-pod, which will sync to any iPod without erasing your music collection.

i bought a  900a awhile ago i upgraded the ssd to a 128gb im getting about 100 read and 50 write its quite fast.

i also use gma booster for the gpu and im playing f.e.a.r just fine

It's not sold in Sweden but you could order one from usa or germany..

Only non shiny ones are old celeron version like Eee 900 and 701

hey jkk, i have a cool idea if your not going to be using the original 900 anymore. Considering they are almost the same devices you could take the non scratch lid, as well as the touchpad with the better firmware and put it in the 900A. Then you would have the ultimate 900A.

About the cover of that eeePC that is glossy and gets dirty, I've seen some videos about iPods where someone actually scratches their devices in the back, and the result was really good. I don't remember the site where I've seen that however what do u think? That could be a solution to avoid the finger prints.
