I know that the word free is very ambivalent. I think Tibet should be free as an autonomos Region, not as a state. Chinese Gov. has a way to fight for absolute power. I know that the word free is very ambivalent. I think Tibet should be free as an autonomos Region, not as a state. Chinese Gov. has a way to fight for absolute power. And we all know, that it has its problems with religion and movements that are too strong. Taiwan has a much more similar culture to Han so there is not this kind of problems. I also dislike the violent way of protests. It is ignorant and arrogant too if Mao goes to Tibet and just declares: Old System bad, CPP Rule is good.

The abolition of slavery in America, the revolutionary war, the Civil rights movement, all happened at the time when these changes were most likely to occur because people were fired up over it. Will it necessarily solve the problem? No, of course not, but there is always the chance that with these protests something major could occur.

Extinguish the torch and call off the relay! If the torch relay continues, I fear that people will die. Either protesters, policemen, or passers-by.
Because of China's poor handling of recent events in Tibet, not to mention their consistently poor record on human rights, the torch relay will symbolize nothing but human rights violations.

You see, as I have been told the Chinese are like the borg, unquestioning of their government and controllers, they don't understand that people have a separate mind and will from their governments, and that we can protest ourselves against other Issues, Iraq, for example. Which is why they will accuse us ourselves of an atrocity, which in their eyes excuses their government of atrocities.

The fact is that there must b far more chinese ppl during the torch relay than the protests... The protests themselves in London said they were paid £60 per day to wave and cheer for Tibet's freedom. They know nothing about history, China, Human Right, even Tibet itself. Shame for bloody stupid protests.
