@LOLJb123 I really don't know where it's taken (not my photos), but it could be Ainaži or not very far from there, because that is the side of shore along Gulf of Riga, where there are a lot of stones in it. The other side is mostly of sand only.

What was that cool red and white mushroom called? And what was that cool looking hedgehog like creature? ooo...what was that large horned cow-like creature called? I want to go to latvia!! Were those Riga wares that lady was selling significant to Latvian culture? Were those cranberries or something else on the streets? I feel so privileged to be part of the human race. Culture, nature, and history are so beautiful.

@qijino1236 If I understand right, then those mushrooms in English are called amanita muscaria or fly-agaric; maybe there are more words for them. Don't you know them? They're really quite lot growing here, are the best known poisonous mushrooms here, maybe right because look so beautiful. By the way, we call them very similarly as name "mushrooms"; therefore, when I first time got to know this word in English I thought it means right these red-white mushrooms, not mushrooms in whole! ;)

And I put there pictures of wild oxes and bisons.

Those wares are different ornaments which our ancestors far in past were wearing; surely quite significant part of our culture.

Berries are of hawthorn (sometimes look like trees, sometimes - like big bushes).

@daseina My parents were born in Riga and came to the US shortly before I was born, before they really spoke English, so Latvian was really my first language at home. I spoke English outside, Latvian in the home.

@daseina The Germans sent my mother to work in a bomb factory in Germany and my father escaped from the Russians after he was arrested and fled to Germany. My parents met in Germany and then moved to the US after the war. My father said he could not go back as long as the Russians were there because he would be arrested and sent to Siberia. He died 2 years before Latvia became independent. My mother returned to Latvia to see her mother and two sisters. Her mother died 6 months later.

But why you didn't come to Latvia? Did your mother also went back to US after visiting Latvia?

And have you met also other Latvians in USA? I know that there are rather many Latvians, as well as in other countries, or at least were. Their children are maybe not feeling Latvia so close to them anymore. Surely not.

Today we celebrate 75 years since got freedom.

You know, not all Russians are similar, just like also not all Latvians and Lithuanians, or people of any other nation.

Some Russians are bigger patriots of Latvia than some Latvians.

@daseina yes, I understand that but unfortunatelly most of the russian people in the baltics are not as good. most of them don't even want to learn the language because of their SLAVA ROSSII and SLAVA SOVETSKOMU SOJUZU. but it doesn't mean that all of them are bad. I myself have some good russian lithuanian friends. and yes some of LIT/LAT people just leave the countries without no feelings or ideas if going back in the future. they don't give a damn about their homelands.

It's not wise to hate people for their stupidity, just because all their lives they've lived with this ideology and are not able to see the world from another side. They think that the only truth is the one they believe in. This is everywhere, also in religions and other things. It's not worth that to hate anyone for that.

Latvia is a country by the seashore, has pure seasonal changes, lovely animal life live as if the neighborhood, clear-cut colors of a city, calm folk clothing, tunes, conexisting the Nature and folklore and pleasant living, surely my ability absolutely can't express the characters.

And Second Difference It Did Seem To Me That Lithuanians Are Tidier Than Latvians. All Was Very Spruce There.

It`s My Opinion.

But I Like That In My Country Are Much Forests And Beautiful Meadows.

When All Is Full With Fields Then It`s Not So Interesting.

Zini, man būs jāliek eksāmens vācu valodā, bet es jūtu, ka man sāk zust iemaņas. Man tagad labāk padodas angļu valoda, jo šeit, internetā, es pārsvarā runāju tikai angliski, un tagad man liekas, ka es to pārvaldu labāk nekā vācu, kaut arī sākumā bija pilnīgi otrādi.

Man vajag kādu, ar ko vāciski parunāt. :(
