@stusixtyone Sure helped me. :) I'm a believer in the theory of the Israelite origins of the Celts and Saxons. Didn't know it's the unofficial anthem of England.
when Iron Maiden were initiated, they they were pretty much into violence and horror, etc. and the music were average, but little by little they started to remove violence and started to focus on music and then it started to become fucking awesome, but I think that Iron Maiden is nothing without Bruce Dickinson, he gives it an edge. (sorry if my english fails somehow, not so good in it). Anyway i have writed a fucking long note, so Up The Irons!!!
@marspars nah maiden was already a beast of a band, bruce allowed some amazing music to be written with his vocal range though and i enjoy his time on maiden more than paul's, i mean really number of the beast was just legendary
I think it's a good band, i am a believer but that doesn't offend me, cause it's music and only that, while you create and not to cling to everything they say , I love their music! are the best in the world, but not offend me (: do not combine music with religion ...
Só de imaginar que estava na fila da loja woodstock (ainda existe?) para comprar um ingresso para esse show já valeu a lembrança. Em algum lugar devo ter a relíquia do ticket desse show "extra" na qual essa bela canção foi tocada...
well, it actually was, not that they were telling you to go worship the devil, bt their songs were about evil & they played that up in their demeanor on stage & in their music. I guess you had to be there back then, , things are different now, we were a messed up generation back then. & I love this song, I want to download this..
I know where you are comming from, and what you are seeing. The songs you are refering too were more biblical, and apocalyptic. The songs speeking of the Devil in essence, were more of warnings of what he embodies, rather than glorifying him. So, those songs were more about stories of people faltreing, and the wrongs that come of those failures, rather than actually being about Satan. The songs were about people, and what different lives go through.
Very nice response. I agree with you totally. That's how I try to explain it as well. I really don't believe that Iron Maiden promoted evil in anyway; most of their songs refer to literature anyway, so when they sing about things that refer to evil, they are simply refering to the Bible as literature. That's personally how I see it.
i must admit that this was well said. While Maiden was NEVER pro-satin they did use a "dark" stage set and some "dark" lines in there music. But that was what was amazing about them. The way they did it was amazing and one one will ever duplicate them. well put man
just because songs are ABOUT evil or the devil or stuff like that it does not mean that the members of the band are into evil and satanistic stuff Oo'
they just like the topic, the setting, the feeling of this dark stuff.
Listen to for the greater good of god for example.
yeah I know,, I was just trying to talk/express, about what the old days were like. Everyone was in such panic about heavy metal music & today, it is no big deal, they even put the songs on a video game, but we (me) were continuously attacked for listening to Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy, etc.. it's just funny how today, ozzy is on a reality TV show, but back then, they made us burn his albums & protest outside record stores & concerts, about going to hell etc... just funny how things changed..
Yeah, I know! It caused a lot of problems for me. You know, when people start treating you like a criminal, or devil worshiper & that's what they expect you to be, then I started believing I was a bad person & it actually caused me to act out in negative ways bcause that's how all the metal people acted. I am happy to see that now, people treat music as that, it's music/art, not evil! Acceptance of music has changed & I am glad, cause it made my life hell back then, it was so stupid! RockOn
Thank you for posting this wonderful live version of a brilliant song. When William Blake wrote his original poem, he was referring in specific detail to an historical event. There's a lot more about this on the Eternal Idol site, and Bruce's song is mentioned in the book "The Missing Years of Jesus."
He hasn't really...he said he is planning on another album sometime soon (maybe after he records the new Maiden album?). His record contract still has about 2 or 3 more albums left for him to record, though. He just has stopped touring, that's all. ;)
isnt HE his own record contract? like he recorded ToS and Chemical Wedding through Air Raid Records right? but any who bring on the new maiden and the new bruce!!!!!!
fuckin AMAZING!!!!!!! this song sounds amazing LIVE but than again so DOES EVERYONE song bruce sings! bruce is the ultimate singer, frontman hes amaing live and in the studio this man is a god among men, none can rival bruce ;D UP THE IRONS!!!!!
São Paulo's 2nd show (extra gig) on The Chemical Wedding world tour!
I miss his solo stuff! He got better material out on those 2 solo albuns of the late 90s (Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding), than Maiden did this past decade or so...
i'm gonna have to agree with all here great song(prefer it live thats the version i heard first) great singer nay the best in the business, he was great when i met him,i got autograph for me and a mate and bruce said to charge a tenner to me mate haha. paul bruce dickinson is awesome. they havent really stopped for 5 years.
and in the mist of that bruce released tyranny in 05 but with no tour.
can you blame him?
