I bouncer killed a guy a couple of months ago near me doing that. Squeeze too hard and it can kill a person. Better off kicking the legs and sweeping them away, over and over again until they get pissed off with falling over and leave.

We run a very large pub/club complex and my policies ensure we dont spend much time at all in court or A&E..... He (the bouncer) would have been looking at hard time if the drunk would have died, which is a possibility because the drunk looked like he was on deaths door to begin with. Even police can use such "sleeper holds'" only if deadly force is authorized.

I was ready to post a hate comment against the bouncer. Mainly because they are very rarely in the right with what they do, but this was done without excessive force, ok the sleeper wasn't that called for, but at least he didn't near kill the guy like a lot of bouncers.

Remember- he was already off the premises, so.... good job done! Taking someone out safely, professionally and efficiently is an entirely different matter. We run a very large pub/club complex and my policies ensure we dont spend much time at all in court or A&E..... I assure you it works for me, you run your door as you see fit brother but it may cost you in the long run. I've seen it before. Good luck.

four years huh. talk to me when you get some more experience. choking someone out can be dangerous and it should only be done when required. it was certainly not required in this instance. i could have come up with many way to distract this guy away from the entrance; or, walk away from him and he would go away, and if he didn't you could then nicely escort him away. making him pass-out is just an asshole move from an inexperienced doorman.
