He was near dead last at the bell, i remember watching the final with 150m to go when he flew past Estevez and onto heshko's shoulder thinking "Holy s**t, i think Silva might win this!" If he was even mid pack it would have been interesting to see if he would have caught them. He had so much work to do and had to run so wide around everyone.

the principle of 1500m is endurance , it is useless to run slowly and give a background on the finish, we will assess the final speed. The purpose of the quick is to tire the others. But I'm still not agree Hicham Morceli have already shown they can win races slow to Athens in 1997
true but Aouita broke world recors from 1500 to double mile and didnt lack endurance so he could win at a fast pace as well as slow pace..either or he'll beat ya

Aouita could win at any pace..his finish was scary..the man ran the 100m in 10.9 and the 400m in 46..unbelievable

I'm not sure if that's right, but Aouita had a monstrous finish, as seen in the 1987 World Championships in Rome, when he ran a last lap of 52.8x.
