I don't know the RC-2, but this one has 8 different 'guide' tones you can use. They sound like some very basic sort of drumming. But actually you can record any musical part ('phrase') with, for example, the aux input (analog mini jack) and save it in one of the 11 memory spots. It'll stay there when the device is off, so you can overdub it whenever you want.
